বাংলাদেশের ঐতিহাসিক ও প্রত্নতাত্বিক নিদর্শন সমূহের মধ্যে দিনাজপুরের রামসাগর অন্যতম। ঐতিহাসিক ভিত্তি ও প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্যের জন্য প্রতি বৎসর অসংখ্য দেশী বিদেশী পর্যটককে আকর্ষণকরে এ রামসাগর। দিনাজপুর শহর থেকে প্রায় ৮কিঃমিঃ সোজা দক্ষিণে রাস্তার পাশে অবস্থিত রাম সাগরের জলভাগের আয়তন ৭৭ একর, তবে চারিদিকে টিলাকৃতির পাড়সহ আয়তন মোট ১৪৭ একর। ১৫০ ফুট দৈর্ঘ্য বিশিষ্ট বেলে পাথরে বাঁধাই করা দীঘির প্রধান ঘাট সকলেরই দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে। রামসাগরের গভীরতা প্রায় ৩০ ফুট। এই সুগভীর দীঘির জল কোনদিনই শুকায় না। দিনাজপুরের বিখ্যাত রাজা রামনাথ আলীবর্দীখানের সময়ে ১৭৫০থেকে ১৭৫৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দের মধ্যে দীঘিটি খনন করেন। সে সময় খরা জনিত দুর্ভিক্ষ পীড়িত লোকদের কর্মসংস্থান ও পানির প্রয়োজন মেটানোর জন্য রাজা এ দীঘি খনন করেছিলেন বলে জানা যায়। বর্তমানে অসংখ্য গাছপালায় সুসজ্জিত এ দীঘির পানিতে এর প্রতিচ্ছবি ও সুবিশাল জলরাশি মিলে এক নয়নাভিরাম দৃশ্যের অবতারণা হয়েছে। রামসাগরে প্রতি বৎসর প্রায় পঞ্চাশ হাজারেরও অধিক পর্যটকএর অপূর্ব সৌন্দর্য এবং দৃশ্যউপভোগ করতে আসেন।সরকারের উদ্যোগে এবং জেলা প্রশাসনের তত্ত্বাবধানে রামসাগরের সামগ্রিক উন্নয়নের জন্য বর্তমানে বিভিন্ন পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করা হচ্ছে।

Nature and Life - Episode 260 (Ramsagar & Altadighi National Park)
The northern region of Bangladesh is a vital Barind ecosystem.
Geographically this region is mostly flat.
For being sited near the Himalayas and for low rainfall the soil is rough here.
So, deciduous forest (Sal forest) emerged in this region.
This forest enriched the natural resources of the country.
But with the evolution of time the traditional look of Sal forest has declined.
The northern region has become pale.
The Sal forest exists now in a fragmented form in some places.
Ramsagar and Altadighi National Parks have been declared to conserve those fragmented forests.
The Ramsagar National Park is situated in Dinajpur district.
Total area of the park is about 27 hectares.
The park includes the lake and its adjacent biodiversity enriched area.
The main attraction is the Ramsagar Lake with clear water.
But this lake was not formed naturally.
The lake was dug to solve water crisis.
The lake is long in north-south position.
The series of Indian mast tree, surrounding the lake, has made a scenic beauty.
Beside the Indian mast tree, there are some other trees.
The sunshine in the morning reflects in the water of the lake.
The lotus and water lily float with the wave.
Various species of animals are found there.
There is an old mango garden in the park.
Other trees are also present in the garden.
Various colorful birds roam in these trees.
Insects fly over the flowers.
The reptiles and mammals are also found.
As a result, thousands of tourists visit the Ramsagar National Park.
A mini zoo has been established here to entertain the tourists.
Numerous tourists pass their time observing the Deer, Monkey, Python and so on.
The Altadighi National Park is another biodiversity rich area in the North Bengal.
This park is situated at the Dhamuirhaat Uapzilla in Naogaon district.
The park is carrying the sign of the traditional Sal Forest.
The presence of the Sal tree in the whole park is notable.
Almost 90% area of the park is covered by the Sal tree.
It becomes 10-25 feet in height.
Beside the Sal tree, other plants like Queen’s Crape-myrtle, White shiris, Aamla, Golden shower, Silk cotton etc. are also there.
Other climbers like Sarsaparilla, Fiveleaf yam, Indian Sarsaparilla, etc. are also found there.
Beside various climbers different types of Orchids and wildflowers are also found.
Various types of ferns and fungi are also found in this forest.
The surroundings become resonant with the crunching sound of dry leaves in the winter.
The land becomes full with dry leaves.
The amphibians and reptiles are found there.
Sometimes the Squirrel, Mongoose and Bengal Fox roam on the ground to feed on fallen fruits and insects.
The Five-striped Palm Squirrel is found here.
This species is found at the west of the Jamuna River and Sundarbans in Bangladesh.
Beside this various colorful birds make the place resonant with their songs.
Coppersmith Barbet, Owls, Woodpeckers, Bee eaters, Chestnut Starling, Weaver, Parakeets, Asian Paradise Flycatcher etc. are common among the birds.
Beside the forest birds the water birds are also seen in the lake of the park.
The name of the Lake is Altadighi.
Both the amphibians and reptiles are found in this lake.
The forest gives shelter to numerous invertebrates like butterflies, moths, spiders, snails and insects.
To solve the water crisis in this area, the king Bishwanath Jagaddal dug this lake.
The lake is ecologically very important.
The ecosystem of this lake is rich with aquatic animals.
This traditional lake and the beauty of the park have made a striking environment.
So the Altadighi National Park has become a tourist spot for numerous visitors.
The number of tourist is gradually increasing in both parks.
They are enjoying the natural beauty.
These two parks have vital role in maintaining environmental balance.
But due to lack of proper knowledge, the ecosystem of the park is being affected.
Appertaining authorities also lack apt management.
So, we have to take stronger steps to develop our tourism industry by improving the environmental condition of these two parks.
Only then the environment will remain good, tourism industry will progress and we will have a better life.

Ramsagar is a largest man made lake of Bangladesh situated in the village Tejpur eight kilometer south of the Dinajpur town. The lake wide is about 1079 m north-south and length 192.6 m in East-West. Ramsagar was stablished in the mid-1750s by Raja Ram Nath. About 1.5 million worker took part to dig the lake and total cost is 30000 TK that time. রামসাগর জাতীয় উদ্যান বাংলাদেশের দিনাজপুর জেলার আউলিয়াপুর ইউনিয়নের তাজপুর গ্রামে অবস্থিত একটি জাতীয় উদ্যান। এটি দিনাজপুর সদর থেকে ৮ কিলোমিটার দূরে রামসাগর দিঘিকে ঘিরে অবস্থিত।[১] ১৯৬০ সালে রামসাগর বাংলাদেশের বন বিভাগের তত্ত্বাবধানে আনা হয়। ১৯৯৫-৯৬ সালে রামসাগরকে আধুনিক পর্যটনকেন্দ্র হিসেবে গড়ে তোলা হয় এবং ২০০১ খ্রিস্টাব্দের ৩০ এপ্রিল একে জাতীয় উদ্যান হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়।[২]
রামসাগর উদ্যানের প্রধান আকর্ষণ হলো বিশাল রামসাগর দিঘি। তটভূমিসহ রামসাগরের আয়তন ৪,৩৭,৪৯২ মিটার, দৈর্ঘ্য ১,০৩১ মিটার ও প্রস্থ ৩৬৪ মিটার। গভীরতা গড়ে প্রায় ১০ মিটার। পাড়ের উচ্চতা ১৩.৫ মিটার। দিনাজপুরের বিখ্যাত রাজা রামনাথ (রাজত্বকাল: ১৭২২-১৭৬০ খ্রিস্টাব্দ) পলাশীর যুদ্ধের আগে (১৭৫০-১৭৫৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দের মধ্যে) এই রামসাগর দিঘি খনন করেছিলেন।[২] তাঁরই নামানুসারে এর নামকরণ করা হয় রামসাগর। দিঘিটি খনন করতে তৎকালীন প্রায় ৩০,০০০ টাকা এবং ১৫,০০,০০০ শ্রমিকের প্রয়োজন হয়েছিল।
এই জাতীয় উদ্যানে রয়েছে ৭টি পিকনিক কর্নার। সেখানে আছে ২টি টয়লেট, ১টি ক্যাফেটেরিয়া, আছে শিশুপার্ক। এছাড়া সেখানে আছে কিছু হরিণ। এই উদ্যানে প্রবেশের জন্য রয়েছে টিকিটের ব্যবস্থা। এছাড়াও আছে ব্যক্তিগত উদ্যোগে ২০১০ খ্রিস্টাব্দের ১০ অক্টোবর (১০-১০-'১০) গড়ে তোলা রামসাগর গ্রন্থাগার নামে ৮ শতাধিক বইয়ের সংগ্রহ নিয়ে একটি অনুমোদনহীন পাঠাগার

The Ramsagar national park is managed by the Department of Forest, while the lake is looked after by the Department of Fisheries.
Though the reservoir was originally made to provide safe drinking water to local residents, it now plays a recreational role and serves as an important tourist destination in Dinajpur. The national park is a popular picnic spot for people of the area. The authorities have developed some facilities for visitors around Ramsagor Lake, like restrooms and kiosks to sell refreshments. Roughly, 150,000 tourists visit the area every year.

রামসাগর জাতীয় উদ্যান, দিনাজপুর
দিনাজপুর শহর থেকে ৮ কিঃ মিঃ দ্িক্ষনে মহারাজাদের র্কীতিময় দিঘী রামসাগর। চারদিকে সু উচ্চ মাটির টিবি , মাঝ খানে দৃষ্টিনন্দন দীঘির নীল জলরাশি। পাড় ভূমিসহ এ দিঘীর মোট আয়তন ৪,৩৭,৪৯২ মিটার । এটি বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে বড় দীঘি।
প্রজাদের পানির কষ্ট দূরীকরন,সেচ সুবিধা ও কর্ম সংস্থানের জন্য দিনাজপুরের রাজা রামনাথ রায় এই দীঘি খনন করান। ১৭৫৯ সালে এর খনন কাজ শেষ হয়। লীলা বৈচিত্র্যে স্থানে স্থানে গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে পিকনিক কর্নার।
দিঘীর পাড় ছাড়িয়ে রয়েছে আন্দোলিত ভূদৃশ্য সম্বলিত বৃহদাকৃতির সমভূমি এলাকা। ১৯৬০ সালে রামসাগর বাংলাদেশের বন বিভাগের তত্ত্বাবধানে আনা হয়। ১৯৯৫-৯৬ সালে রামসাগরকে আধুনিক পর্যটনকেন্দ্র হিসেবে গড়ে তোলা হয় এবং ২০০১ খ্রিস্টাব্দের ৩০ এপ্রিল একে জাতীয় উদ্যান হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়।

Ransagar located in the village named Tajpur in Dinajpur District.It is the largest man made lake in Bangladesh. It is situated about 8 km south of the Dinajpur town.The lake is about 1079 meters long from north to south & 192.6 meters wide from east to west.It was created in the mid -1750s, founded by Raja Ram Nath, after whom the lake is named. The excavation cost 30,000 tk at that time & 1.5 million labourers took part in the project. Its surface area is about 108.1 acres & average depth is about 10 meter. It was under forest dept at yhe year of 1960. In the year of 1995- 1996 it was made as a modern Tourism center & 30 April, 2001 it was announced as a National Park in Bangladesh.

রামসাগর উদ্যানের প্রধান আকর্ষণ হলো বিশাল রামসাগর দিঘি। তটভূমিসহ রামসাগরের আয়তন ৪,৩৭,৪৯২ মিটার, দৈর্ঘ্য ১,০৩১ মিটার ও প্রস্থ ৩৬৪ মিটার। গভীরতা গড়ে প্রায় ১০ মিটার। পাড়ের উচ্চতা ১৩.৫ মিটার। দিনাজপুরের বিখ্যাত রাজা রামনাথ (রাজত্বকাল: ১৭২২-১৭৬০ খ্রিস্টাব্দ) পলাশীর যুদ্ধেরআগে (১৭৫০-১৭৫৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দের মধ্যে) এই রামসাগর দিঘি খনন করেছিলেন।[২] তাঁরই নামানুসারে এর নামকরণ করা হয় রামসাগর। দিঘিটি খনন করতে তৎকালীন প্রায় ৩০,০০০ টাকা এবং ১৫,০০,০০০ শ্রমিকের প্রয়োজন হয়েছিল।[১]

এই জাতীয় উদ্যানে রয়েছে ৭টি পিকনিক কর্নার। সেখানে আছে ২টি টয়লেট, ১টি ক্যাফেটেরিয়া, আছে শিশুপার্ক। এছাড়া সেখানে আছে কিছু হরিণ। এই উদ্যানে প্রবেশের জন্য রয়েছে টিকিটের ব্যবস্থা। এছাড়াও আছে ব্যক্তিগত উদ্যোগে ২০১০ খ্রিস্টাব্দের ১০ অক্টোবর (১০-১০-'১০) গড়ে তোলা রামসাগর গ্রন্থাগার নামে ৮ শতাধিক বইয়ের সংগ্রহ নিয়ে একটি অনুমোদনহীন পাঠাগার।[২]
স্থানীয় প্রশাসন ও আইন-শৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর অলক্ষে এই উদ্যানটি সন্ত্রাসী এবং মাদকসেবীদের অনৈতিক ও অসামাজিক কার্যকলাপ ও মাদকব্যবসায়ের স্থান হয়ে উঠেছে বলে অভিযোগ রয়েছে। কখনও কখনও তারা পর্যটকদেরও হয়রানিও করে থাকে। এছাড়া পিকনিক কর্নারগুলোও অযত্ন অবহেলায় ভঙ্গুর, অরক্ষিত এবং প্রায় ব্যবহার-অযোগ্য।[২]
