Time River
TIME RIVER
Time River is a totally silent dramatic film. The story is completely in the visuals. It stars William A. Smith as an Old Man dying in an Arizona nursing home. He indicates to his family that he wishes to return to the desert town of Time River. His family drives him to the remnants of the old town, now a ghost town. As they push him through the deserted streets he sees the buildings and memories of his times in Time River. You see his memories as a Young Man (played by Jon Sharkey) who re-lives his first love with a beautiful and loving Saloon Girl, played by Cindy Womack.
Principal photography was completed in 1973, but the film was not premiered until 1987 due to multiple problems filming the closing credits.

Fly Around #1/23- Kermit Possum Killers, Cameo Theater Mountain Matinee 9/9/17
The Kermit Possum Killers open their inaugural Mountain Matinee performance at the historic Cameo Theater (on live radio and Internet streaming) with the well known old time fiddle tune Fly Around (My Pretty Little Miss).
The Kermit Possum Killers old time string band, with members from both southwest Virginia and east Tennessee, performed on stage at the historic 1925 Cameo Theater on State Street in downtown Bristol, Virginia (just across the street from Bristol, Tennessee). The Kermit Possum Killers were performing tunes that reflect this region's authentic original sounds of Old Time fiddle and banjo tunes. Their LIVE performance was simultaneously broadcast on the Tri-Cities Top Gun radio's three local radio transmitters on 870 AM, 96.3 FM, 100.7 FM, and their station feed was streaming on the Internet at wpwt.streamon.fm. This band was on the stage and on air from 1 pm until 3 pm on Saturday 9 September 2017. The Kermit Possum Killers were followed from 3 pm till 5 pm by a bluegrass band Fireball Mail from Nashville, Tennessee which was also booked for Saturday night at The Down Home in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The historic 1925 Cameo Theater and the three radio stations (10,000 watt WPWT-AM and the two FM translators) are under common ownership. The Cameo began in circa 1925 as a vaudeville venue and later began screening motion pictures, probably before talkies were introduced. See some pictures of the interior of the Cameo circa 1925:

Soldiers Joy #11/23- Kermit Possum Killers, Cameo Theater Mountain Matinee 9/9/17
The Kermit Possum Killers perform the oldest old time fiddle tune in the Anglo-American genre (according to CanJoe) called Soldiers Joy. Other names which sort of explain the joy part are Payday In The Army and Women In The Baracks. The song Five Pounds Of Possum sung by Troublesome Hollow and also today uploaded here goes a long way to described the thinking that went into choosing the name Kermit Possum Killers (I know Mike Elliott had input into that).
The Kermit Possum Killers old time string band, with members from both southwest Virginia and east Tennessee, performed on stage at the historic 1925 Cameo Theater on State Street in downtown Bristol, Virginia (just across the street from Bristol, Tennessee).
