DAY-HIKING: The Amazing Colors of The Red Cliffs Trail
In this video, my son, daughter and I went for a day-hike to the beautiful Red Cliffs Trail at the Red Cliff National Conservation Area.
The red cliff is a small but beautiful area, and the best time to visit is in the Spring where the pools are replenished with water melted from the snow. It has impressive rock formations that contrast beautifully with the water. This trail is considered easy, and there is minimal elevation gain.
We visited it during Spring break, and it was hectic. Perhaps a regular weekday would have been a little better regarding the number of people there and available parking space. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic day, and we enjoyed every minute of this hike. I highly recommend it!

Red Cliffs NCA
The Red Cliffs Desert Reserve was first set aside to protect the rare Mohave Desert Tortoise. Federally listed as an endangered species it's considered a bellwether for the health of the entire ecosystem. Only one or two percent of hatchlings will ever become adults. And as human encroachment continues to threaten the tortoise local groups are raising awareness for the importance of protecting the landscapes that sustain them.
Now designated the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area the reserve is becoming more popular. In a familiar land management dilemma area residents face the challenge of how to defend a fragile natural environment while also allowing access to a growing number of outdoor enthusiasts.

Exploring Red Cliffs National Conservation Area 2005 Part One
We found this hidden away campground on some BLM lands in Utah and it's just amazing and beautiful. I loved it there. I'm from Michigan so they don't have surreal red canyons there.

Red Cliffs National Conservation Area Dinosaur Tracks
Red Cliffs Dinosaur Track Site Located in the Red Cliffs Recreation Area, within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, this dinosaur track site features 17 well-preserved tracks. Although it is impossible to know exactly which dinosaurs made these footprints, tracks are tied to a general group of dinosaurs based on shape, size, and arrangement of toe pads. These tracks have been identified as Grallator, Kayentapus, and Eubrontes tracks, which paleontologists suggest were made by bipedal meat-eating theropods during the Jurassic Period. If you want to check out these tracks, and learn more at the interpreted site, follow the directions for the Silver Reef Trail.
The approximately 45,000 acres of public land in the Red Cliffs NCA are located in south-central Washington County. The towering Pine Valley Mountains and Dixie National Forest lie to the north, while the communities of Ivins, Santa Clara, St. George, Washington, and Leeds ring the National Conservation Area (NCA).

Red Cliffs - Southern Utah
Red Cliffs in Southern Utah
From St. George -- go north on I-15, take the Zion/Hurricane exit.
Take a left at the first light and follow that frontage road along I-15 north. It will turn into gravel for a couple miles.
Go left under the narrow road underneath I-15, take a left at the T and then drive up into Red Cliffs campground (take $5 for the daily fee). Park in the camp ground and begin the hike (park before you start the loop to the right).
It is an easy and beautiful desert hike for 15 minutes -- then you get into the good stuff. Take your time and explore.

Red Cliffs St. George Utah
We hiked to Red Cliffs falls March 10, 2012 it was a warm day but not warm enough to get wet so we didn't walk through the slot canyon above the falls, instead we walked above it and looked down. We plan on coming back and walking up the creek into the slot canyon when we are more prepared with extra dry clothes. We met a nice young couple and their children from Canada visiting the area who where enjoying the canyons adventurous trail who did go up creek into the slot canyon.
