Find Your Way to Red Hill Cheese
Trevor and Jan Brandon established their small Cheesery and Cellar Door on the farm at Red Hill in April 2000, producing distinctive, handcrafted regional cheeses to complement Mornington Peninsula wines. They were first inspired by farmhouse cheesemaking in Europe, and draw upon Trevor's experience as a food microbiologist.
They are joined by their son Burke and his family. Burke is a graduate in agriculture, with extensive training in cheesemaking, and has a particular interest in the management of cheese maturation and flavour development. During 2008 Burke & wife Bronwyn began milking their flock of East Friesian sheep and made trial batches of sheep blue and luscious yoghurt. We have since released the mild Prom Picnic Pecorino, a true sheep milk Pecorino, as well as two soft pure sheep cheeses.

In the rolling countryside near Gloucester, England, stands the now-famous Cooper's Hill. One day each spring, people send large wheels of artisanal Double Gloucester cheese down the hill at speeds up to about 70 miles per hour. Chasing each wheel is a pack of contestants. Some of them roll, while others just fall over. Long a contained, local affair, over time the Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake (meaning festival) started drawing international crowds to watch or compete in this seriously risky game. In the May 2018 event, Chris “King of the Hill” Anderson set the all-time record, with a career total of 22 cheese wheels. Ending the day without mishaps, although the longtime cheese racer has been injured in past years. And Flo Early, winner of the 2018 women's competition, did dislocate her shoulder. No longer officially supported because of increased crowds, the cheese race continues on its own momentum.

On today’s video we are heading to Green Olive at Red Hill, one of the finest farms and wineries on the Mornington Peninsula with something for the entire family. At the restaurant, they grow olives, grapes, herbs and vegetables and turn amazing produce from local farmers into a range of tapas for you to enjoy. The restaurant also offers a wide range of wines that are typical to the area and produced on site. We also head to a local national park where we spot some bouncing kangaroos!
The all day farm tapas menu includes hand made lamb sausages and meatballs, free range egg and garden vegetable frittatas, dips made with herbs and vegetables from the garden, seasonal soups and salads as well as a range of delicious desserts. The restaurant also serves a range of wines from their vineyard, cheese from their neighbours farm, and other select produce from local farms that they support as part of the farming community on the Mornington Peninsula. The Mornington Peninsula is famous for it’s Pinot Noir. The restaurant also offers a tasting paddle consisting of a Pinot Chardonnay, a Chardonnay, their Pinot Noir and Shiraz, all of which are delicious.

Every year daring competitors throw themselves down a death-defyingly steep hill in Gloucestershire, England, in a bid to win a coveted Double Gloucester cheese, and this year's event was no different - with a number of competitors incurring injuries.
