Nederland, rivierenland. Eeuwenlang kronkelden de grote rivieren door het lage land. De waal, de rijn en de maas brachten zand, grint, klei en slib. Wierpen nieuw land op en overstroomden dat weer. Er leefden otters, bevers en heel veel vogels. Toen de mens de rivieren temde, kwamen er dijken en kunstmatige oevers. Uiterwaarden werden weiland en bouwland.

Officiële MTB route Rhenen ???????? - Hoogtepunten
Hoogtepunten van de mountainbike route Rhenen, Utrecht. Deze korte 6,5km tellende route gaat over het licht geaccentueerde (106hm) en bosrijke gebied van de Utrechtse Heuvelrug. De route loopt volledig offroad en bestaat hoofdzakelijk uit singletrails. De singletrails hebben een erg goede flow waardoor een hoge snelheid kan worden vastgehouden. De bochten zorgen voor de meeste variatie maar zorgen er ook voor dat de MTB route Rhenen geschikt is voor beginners en uitdagend genoeg is voor de gemiddelde mountainbiker.
De MTB route Rhenen is uitstekend aangegeven met de blauw-witte MTB routebordjes en de route is uitstekend onderhouden. LET OP: voor deze route is het MTB vignet Utrechtse Heuvelrug vereist.

People in Dutch Town Rhenen Look Forward to Arrival of Chinese Giant Pandas
Locals in the Dutch town of Rhenen are looking forward to the arrival of two Chinese giant pandas Wednesday as the town has prepared comfortable accommodation for the guests.
Signs of giant pandas can be seen everywhere in the town. Products in the style of giant pandas ranging from toys, cakes, and even ice cream are being sold at supermarkets and stores, attracting many children.
Even the mayor himself has come to taste the panda ice cream.
And more of the shop owners have made their own products panda style. And that's terrific to look at it. We are all crazy about pandas. We are looking forward meeting them next week, said mayor of Rhenen Hans van der Pas.
Streets in the central area of the town are decorated with green plants in the shape of giant panda.
The giant pandas named Xing Ya (male) and Wu Wen (female) will be living in the Ouwehands Zoo in the town.
Some school children will be among the first ones to see the giant pandas before the zoo is opened to public.
We heard that the class of my son is going to face them before the official opening. So they can watch them in about four or three weeks from behind the glass. They are so excited and so proud that they are the first ones who can see the pandas in real life, said Wamalink, a resident in the town.
Preparation work at the zoo is nearing completion. About 7 million euros have been invested in the well-equipped Chinese-style giant panda house. Even the tiles on top of the buildings are made at the factory which made the tiles for China's Forbidden City.
The zoo has prepared a special panda bus to transport visitors.
The management at the zoo is already expecting new panda babies as they have prepared an incubator for the babies.
We can put small giant pandas in there when we get a twin for example, we hope of course, said Robin de Lange, director of the Ouwehands Zoo.
De Lange said it is common that wild mother giant pandas would reject to take care of the weaker one of two panda babies. If that is the case, the zoo will help take care of the weaker one in the incubator.
The two giant pandas were lent by China during Dutch King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima's visit to China in October 2015.
