The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge northwest of Taos, New Mexico, United States. At 565 feet (172 m) above the Rio Grande it is the seventh highest bridge in the United States and 82nd highest bridge in the world. The bridge was started in 1963 and completed in 1965. It was dedicated on September 10, 1965 and is a part of U.S. Route 64, a major east-west road. The span is 1,280 feet (390 m): two 300-foot (91 m)-long approach spans with a 600-foot (180 m)-long main center span.

Taos New Mexico was established in 1615. It is a beautiful town of land of enchantment, New Mexico. Taos Pueblo is inhabited by Native Americans for past 1000 years. The multi storey buildings reminded me of native villages of Punjab in India. The earth is fragrant and emotionally inviting. Standing in front of Taos pueblo one wonders how many generations have stood here watching these beautiful structure. Rio grande gorge bridge over Rio Grande Gorge is a cantilever bridge. It is very beautiful and has been featured in many movies. Earthships are buildings made of natural and recycled material. This is a community of 60 self sustained homes near Taos, New Mexico.

Cruise I took to visit Taos New Mexico and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge over the February 28th weekend 2010. I was going to also take a couple video clips at the Taos Pueblo but decided not to after seeing a Pueblo cop busting a tourist ahead of me for a speeding ticket. And he was traveling slow from what I witnessed. Just killed my interest to visit. I lost my taste for spending 15 to 20 bucks to get in just to take a minute or so video clip if you know what I mean. Just like that poor Joe I've been victimized myself in the past. Instead of trying to fleece the public as a funding source they should be glad you came to visit at all. OK Rants done.

New Mexico's Rio Grande Gorge Named a National Monument | Pew
President Obama has designated five new national monuments, including one in northern New Mexico that encompasses more than 200,000 acres of spectacular wild lands. The Rio Grande del Norte is home to one of the great migratory bird routes in the world, and habitat for bear, deer, elk, and bighorn sheep. The monument designation will preserve this special land and the culture and traditions of its people.
The President also named Washington State's San Juan Islands and historic sites in Delaware, Maryland, and Ohio as national monuments.
