Time Lapse - BC Highway 99, the Entire Route northbound (incl. Sea to Sky Highway!)
Welcome to BC Highway 99! It may not be the longest highway in the province, but it's definitely one of the most important and most unique! From a freeway to major downtown arterial to two lane highway in the middle of nowhere, Highway 99 as it all!
Starting at the Peace Arch on the Canada/United States border, where it meets Interstate 5, Highway 99 acts as the southern gateway into Metro Vancouver, connecting to its southern suburbs of Richmond, Delta, and Surrey, as well as the United States and the rest of the Americas.
After crossing the Fraser River twice - above and below, the only single road to accomplish such a feat - the 41 km freeway turns into city streets (such as Granville Street and Georgia Street) to tranverse the largest city in Western Canada (and Canada's third largest), Vancouver.
Crossing the iconic Lions Gate Bridge brings Highway 99 to Vancouver's North Shore, where it piggybacks on the Trans-Canada Highway to Horseshoe Bay, where it veers off to become the world-famous Sea to Sky Highway.
Following the southernmost fjord on the west coast of North America, Highway 99 hugs the cliffs overlooking Howe Sound on its way to Squamish, then ascends from the sea to the sky on its way to Whistler, Canada's premier ski resort and, paired with Vancouver, the host of the 2010 Olympic games.
Beyond Whistler - and even moreso, Pemberton - Highway 99 is much less travelled but no less beautiful. From 1992 onwards, the stretch beyond Pemberton, known locally as the Duffey Lake Road, extended Highway 99 across the rugged and untouched terrain of the Coast Mountains to Lillooet on the Fraser Canyon - an arid desert landscape.
From there, Highway 99 follows the Fraser Canyon and the former alignment of the Cariboo Road to Pavillion, then veers east to finally meet up with the longest highway in the province, Highway 97, where you can turn left for the Yukon and Alaska or turn right for the Okanagan and California.
Adventure awaits on Highway 99! All set to classical music!

Mare Island in Vallejo, CA is making a Comeback!
And for the first time in years, has major development plans and a tremendous opportunity with more space available for businesses through Choose Vallejo.
Just in the last few years shows like 13 Reasons Why, MythBusters and an upcoming Transformers movie were filmed here thanks largely in part to Film Mare Island, Cinelease, Lennar Mare Island and City of Vallejo - Local Government.
Home to the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi, Mare Island Golf Club has one of the best views for golf in the Bay Area, allowing you to see deep into the distant corners of the North Bay.
Taste the amazing wine of Vino Godfather Winery located on Walnut Ave inside one of the Historic Admiral Mansion’s, giving you a first hand experience into the charm and sheer brilliance these buildings still possess to this day. They have live music every Saturday with plenty of wine to spare!
Drink craft beer along the water, with nine historic Coal Sheds sitting prominently on the waterfront of Mare Island. Converted from their original role of providing coal for the steamships of the Naval Base, the Coal Sheds now house artists, speaker manufacturers, Renaissance faire producers, welders and of course the Mare Island Brewing Co. which is currently in their final phases of construction. Their Taproom is located directly across the water inside the Vallejo Ferry Terminal.
Ride over from San Francisco directly to Vallejo on the San Francisco Bay Ferry which has daily trips to and from SF, and just within the last year, now provides ferry riders a direct stop to the newly constructed Mare Island Ferry Terminal.
Mare Island is also home to Touro University, CA which was established in 1997 and offers graduate degrees in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, nursing, public health and education. The mission of Touro University is to educate caring professionals to serve, to lead and to teach. Students from diverse backgrounds are recruited nationally to create a dynamic, robust learning environment.
But did you know it was once a thriving Naval Base?
The base served America from 1854 to 1996 and provided outstanding service from Steamboats all the way to Nuclear Submarines. Spanning World War I and II, Vietnam and the Cold War.
Some notable achievements included:
Creating the Navy’s first Aircraft Landing Deck as well as launching the first electrically driven ship in the US Navy. They were in fact the same ship, the USS Langley (CV-1/AV-3) was the United States Navy's first aircraft carrier, converted in 1920 from the collier USS Jupiter (AC-3), and also the US Navy's first turbo-electric-powered ship.
The only battleship ever built on the West Coast was the USS California (BB-44), one of two Tennessee-class battleships completed shortly after World War I, was the fifth ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 31st state. She was the last American battleship built on the West Coast, and the only one of the dreadnought type.
Built 5 of the 7 top scoring United States Submarines of World War II were built on Mare Island: The 1943 USS Tang – submarine (sank 24 ships in 5 World War II Pacific patrols (2nd highest number for a U.S. submarine). The 1941 USS Silversides – submarine (sank 23 ships in 14 World War II Pacific patrols (3rd highest number for a U.S. submarine). The 1944 USS Spadefish – submarine (sank 21 ships in 5 World War II Pacific patrols (4th highest number for a U.S. submarine). The 1943 USS Seahorse – submarine sank 20 ships in 8 World War II Pacific patrols (6th highest number for a U.S. submarine). The 1942 USS Wahoo – submarine (sank 20 ships in 7 World War II Pacific patrols (6th highest number for a U.S. submarine).
And a World record still held to this day
A destroyer ship built and launched in less than 1 month. the Mare Island Naval Shipyard holds this shipbuilding speed record for a destroyer that still stands, launching the USS Ward, in just 17 1⁄2 days in May–June 1918. She fired the first American shot in World War II, when she engaged a Japanese submarine before the attack on Pearl Harbor, and successfully sank her opponent.
Today the spirit of servicing and repairing ships lives on through the hard working people at Mare Island Dry Dock, LLC. and the history of the brave men and women who defended our Nation and helped define the legacy of Mare Island can be found at the Mare Island Museum as well as the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum.
We’re proud of Mare Island and its History and look forward to what development it has in store!

WORLD WAR II VICTORY SHIP FILM HANNIBAL VICTORY PART 2 28462
Support Our Channel :
Produced in 1945, Hannibal Victory documents the activities of the World War II Victory Ship S.S. Hannibal Victory, named after Mark Twain’s Mississippi River hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. Departing from San Francisco, the ship carries a cargo of eight steam locomotive engines and cars across the Pacific to the Philippines. The crew’s daily routines are portrayed along with occasional threats by Japanese vessels.
During World War II, 534 Victory ships were built to transport materials to support United States military efforts in theaters of operation across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The Victory ship (officially called VC2) was 455 feet long and 62 feet wide. A cross-compound steam turbine with double reduction gears developed 6,000 or 8,500 horsepower. The first of 534 Victory ships, the S.S. United Victory, was launched on February 28, 1944. The next 34 Victory ships were named for each of the Allied nations; the subsequent 218 were named after American cities (one of them named for Hannibal, Missouri in recognition of successful war bond sales), the next 150 ships were named after educational institutions, and the rest received miscellaneous names.
The 10,000 ton S.S. Hannibal Victory, hull number 579 was built by Permanente Metals Corporation's shipbuilding division in Yard No. 2 at Richmond, California in January 1945. Since her retirement the Hannibal was last reported as being In reserve in Suisun Bay near San Franciso, California. The following is a transcript of the narration of the motion picture produced by the U.S. Maritime Commission in 1945 which documented the maiden voyage of the Hannibal Victory across the Pacific Ocean to the Philippines. Some of her cargo included one of six locomotives and railroad car wheels manufactured at the Hannibal Car Wheel and Foundry at 1200 Collier Street. in Hannibal. The half hour color film was photographed on location in Hannibal and aboard the ship as she crossed the Pacific from San Francisco to the Philippines.
After the war in September, 1946 Vice-Admiral William Ward Smith of the the U.S. Maritime Commission came to Hannibal to present the 8 by 18 foot battle flag of the Hannibal Victory to the city and the documentary film was also premiered on that occasion. Taking part in the flag presentation ceremony were Governor Phil Donnelly; Mayor W. J. Schneider; William C. Garnett, president of the Chamber of Commerce; Floyd Shoemaker of the State Historical Society, Fred Hibbard, sculptor of Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn statues; and two attorneys who had just returned from the war, Elgin Fuller and Branham Rendlen. Fifty copies of the film were given to various agencies nationwide.

Urbex: Abandoned Warehouse in Los Angeles (Ep.10)

In this episode we check out an abandoned warehouse located near the heart of Downtown Los Angeles! I hope you guys enjoy this one! If you guys have any spots you'd like to have featured in my videos hit me with a DM on instagram! I give credit to people who show me spots. I don't give out the addresses of these spots due to the fear of the city of LA buffing these masterpieces. Sorry.
Song used is: Tayyib Ali - Coastin'
All shots filmed and recorded on a Canon60D.
Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the exploration of man-made structures, usually abandoned ruins or not usually seen components of the man-made environment. Photography and historical interest/documentation are heavily featured in the hobby and, although it may sometimes involve trespassing onto private property, this is not always the case. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. It may also be referred to as draining (when exploring drains), urban spelunking, urban rock climbing, urban caving, or building hacking.
The nature of this activity presents various risks, including both physical danger and the possibility of arrest and punishment. Some activities associated with urban exploration may violate local or regional laws and certain broadly interpreted anti-terrorism laws or be considered trespassing or invasion of privacy.

Iconic New York | USA | World Travel Studio
New York City consists of five boroughs, which are five separate counties. Each borough has a unique culture and could be a large city in its own right. Within each borough individual neighborhoods, some several square miles in size, and others only a few blocks in size, have personalities lauded in music and film. Where you live, work, and play in New York says something to New Yorkers about who you are.
The five New York boroughs are:
1. Manhattan (New York County)
The famous island between the Hudson and East Rivers, with many diverse and unique neighborhoods. Manhattan is home to the Empire State Building in Midtown, Central Park, Times Square, Wall Street, Harlem, and the trendy neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo.
2. Brooklyn (Kings County)
The most populous borough, and formerly a separate city. Located south and east of Manhattan across the East River. Known for artists, music venues, beaches, and Coney Island.
3. Queens (Queens County)
Located to the east of Manhattan, across the East River, and north, east, and south of Brooklyn. Queens is the home of the city's two major airports, the New York Mets professional baseball team, the United States Open Tennis Center, and New York City's second-largest Chinatown (in Flushing). With over 170 languages spoken, Queens is the most ethnically diverse region in the United States, and one of the most diverse in the world.
4. The Bronx (Bronx County)
Located north of Manhattan Island, the Bronx is home to the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the New York Yankees professional baseball team.
5. Staten Island (Richmond County)
A large island in New York Harbor, south of Manhattan and just across the narrow Kill Van Kull from New Jersey. Unlike the rest of New York City, Staten Island has a suburban character.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC : Richmond Hill, Queens (Forest Park Gate, 111th St, Jamaica Ave) [VIDEO IMPERFECT]
Google Maps Route:
A walk in the neighborhood of Richmond Hill, Queens from the Forest Park Gate, down 111th Street, and along Jamaica Avenue to 96th Street. Apologies for the video quality after 15:48 or so. My camera had some technical difficulties and didn't even record the entire route I wanted (I walked all the way to Cypress Hills, Brooklyn).
From Wikipedia:
Richmond Hill is a commercial and residential neighborhood located in the southwestern section of the borough of Queens, in New York City, New York, United States. The neighborhood is split between Queens Community Board 9 and 10. The area borders Kew Gardens and Forest Park to the north, Jamaica and South Jamaica to the east, South Ozone Park to the south, and Woodhaven and Ozone Park to the west.
Richmond Hill is known as Little Guyana-Trinidad and Tobago, for its large Indo-Guyanese, Indo-Trinidadian and Tobagonian, and Indo-Caribbean immigrant population, as well as Little Punjab, for its large Punjabi immigrant population. Richmond Hill is home to a density of Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Christian, Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim places of worship.
Main commercial streets in the neighborhood include Jamaica Avenue, Atlantic Avenue and Liberty Avenue. The portion of the neighborhood south of Atlantic Avenue is also known as South Richmond Hill. The Long Island Rail Road provides freight access via the Montauk Branch, which runs diagonally through the neighborhood from northwest to southeast. The ZIP codes are 11418 for the main portion of Richmond Hill and 11419 for South Richmond Hill. Many residents own homes, though some also rent within small apartment buildings.

San Rafael is a lively business and cultural center located in an area of incomparable natural beauty. At the city's heart is its charming, vibrant downtown shopping district. Downtown's mixture of Victorian buildings, ethnic restaurants, retail stores and financial institutions creates San Rafael's hometown flavor.
TRIP REPORT - Amtrak, St. Louis to Chicago
You asked for more Amtrak trip reports, and I listened! This time, I check out Amtrak's Lincoln Service. To make things more interesting (and my trip more comfortable), I spent a few bucks and upgraded to business class. The Lincoln service takes us out over the Mississippi river and through the state of Illinois, stopping in many small and mid-sized towns along the way (a few too many, if you ask me). While this route has some sections being upgraded to 110 MPH service, the frequent stops and sections with low track speeds make for a pretty long trip. But it's a comfortable ride and free wifi is thrown in, so the time passes a lot faster than it would if you chose to drive.
In any case, I always love riding the train. This brought me back to my days of riding the Amtrak Missouri River Runner between St. Louis and Jefferson City on an almost-monthly basis. Hope you enjoy this quick little report!
