The level of water in what was one of Russia's biggest rivers has gone down to a critical point. People share online posts showing incredible pictures of how the desert is taking over, and it's a warning sign for several large cities of Russia. Rostov-on-Don is preparing for disruption of water supplies, while Azov and Taganrog are threatened with sand storms due to the shallowed bay of the Sea of Azov.

The Volga is the longest river in Europe; it is also Europe's largest river in terms of discharge and watershed. It flows through central Russia and is widely viewed as the national river of Russia. Eleven of the twenty largest cities of Russia, including the capital, Moscow, are situated in the Volga's drainage basin. Some of the largest reservoirs in the world can be found along the Volga. The river has a symbolic meaning in Russian culture and is often referred to as Волга-матушка Volga-Matushka (Mother Volga) in Russian literature and folklore.
The Volga River is the longest river in Europe. It belongs to the closed basin of the Caspian Sea. Rising in the Valdai Hills 225 meters (738 ft) above sea level northwest of Moscow and about 320 kilometers (200 mi) southeast of Saint Petersburg, the Volga heads east past Lake Sterzh, Tver, Dubna, Rybinsk, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kazan. From there it turns south, flows past Ulyanovsk, Tolyatti, Samara, Saratov and Volgograd, and discharges into the Caspian Sea below Astrakhan at 28 meters (92 ft) below sea level. At its most strategic point, it bends toward the Don (the big bend). Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad, is located there.

Участники похода 2019 только мужчины, 5 взрослых и 7 мальчишек, младшему 4 года, старшему 63.
Сплав по реке Дон 86 км на двух плотах. Оба плота оборудованы мотором для большей мобильности и безопасности.
ПЛОТ
Размеры плота - 6 х 12 м.
Основа - жесткая металлическая конструкция 6 х 12 метров, покрытая дощатой палубой.
Грузоподъемность – 5,5 тонн.
Экипаж - 8 человек.
Каждый плот зарегистрирован как маломерное судно и имеет судовой билет.
На палубе установлены 4 двухместные двухслойные палатки. Между палубой и палаткой – мягкий поролоновый матрац.
В центральной части плота расположена кают-компания оборудованная тентом и пологами от дождя и солнца.
Плот для сплава по реке оборудован двумя трапами: для схода на берег и для спуска в воду.
Перед началом похода все взрослые члены команды проходят иструктаж по технике безопастности.

I wish I could translate poetry...

This is one of our anual special interest tours to Russia. Each May we offer an unforgetable trip to Volgograd, formerly known as Stalingrad. One of the hightlights will bet he Victory Day Parade.
DAY 1
In the afternoon arrival in Volgograd. After immigration formalities, meet with our English speaking guide. Russian welcome, Transfer to the booked hotel. Check-in, time to refresh and dinner at the hotel. Accommodation at the booked hotel.
DAY 2
Breakfast at hotel. Meet in the lobby and start of the sightseeing tour. Visit of the Mamajew hill. After the visit transfer to the Panorama Museum and get to know about the history of the Battle of Stalingrad. In the afternoon return to the hotel. Dinner at hotel. Accommodation at the booked hotel.
DAY 3
Breakfast at hotel.
-Victory Day- Festivities within the whole city and military parade on the main square of the city.
Enjoy the festivities on your own and experience the unique atmosphere.
In the evening dinner at the hotel. Accommodation at the booked hotel.
DAY 4
Breakfast at hotel. Full Day excursion to the suburbs of Stalingrad where the battles took place. Visit of the Russian and German cemetery in Rossoschka. Late afternoon, visit of the German visitors center in Rossoschka and small snacks. In the afternoon return to the city center of Volgograd. Free time till dinner.
Dinner at the hotel. Accommodation at the booked hotel.
DAY 5
Breakfast at hotel. Full Day excursion to city of Kalatsch on the river Don. Sightseeing and freetime in Kalatsch. Transfer back to Wolgograd.
Dinner at the hotel. Accommodation at the booked hotel.
DAY 6
Breakfast at the hotel, checkout and departure.
