Proceeds support arts enrichment programs in the Public Schools of Northampton, Leeds, and Florence
ABOUT:
Each summer the Northampton Arts Council and the Parent Teacher Organizations of Northampton’s public schools join forces in August to raise funds for arts enrichment in the schools and for the Arts Council’s ArtsEZ spring grant program. Each elementary school, J.F.K. Middle School, and Northampton High School will receive funds raised from Transperformance. Your support for this event will help keep art alive in the public schools and in the community.
Last year’s benefit, Transperformance 23: Beyond Bob, provided $1,200 to each school due in part to the dollars raised by donors like you. The money goes towards great projects in our local schools. We also raised an additional $12,500 that was just recently distributed in our ArtsEZ round of grants to artists, schools, and small art organizations to maintain the artistic and cultural heritage of Northampton, Florence, and Leeds.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Fish Creek & Ephraim (#612)
[Latest Airdate: January 4, 2018]
[Original Airdate: March 9, 2017]
Fish Creek and Ephraim are just minutes away from each other in Door County. While these communities are really different, they are both part of the same wonderful Door County experience. We're on the bay (west) side --- also known as the busy side. Indeed, John had a full agenda, as do most tourists who come to this part of Door County, but this turned out to be one of the most relaxing episodes because that's how Fish Creek and Ephraim are. You can't help but walk a little slower, talk a little less and smile a little more. Well, John didn't follow suit on the talk a little less part because he's a television host and talking to people is what he does. And what fun conversations he had at Lautenbach's Orchard Country Winery and Market, Edgewood Orchard Galleries, Wilson's, and with everyone he met. And since John spent a good deal of time here acting, he couldn't wait to catch up with both famous theater groups. The busy side of the Door in September. We highly recommend it!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

Some of the richest people in the US, including billionaires Warren Buffett and Sam Zell, have made millions from trailer parks at the expense of the country's poorest people. Seeing their success, ordinary people from across the country are now trying to follow in their footsteps and become trailer park millionaires. The Guardian went to Orlando to learn the tricks of the trade from Frank Rolfe, the self-appointed dean of Mobile Home University, as he led would-be investors around a trailer park for sex offenders.
