Floating the Rio Grande between Elephant Butte & Truth or Consequences NM
This video was taken Sunday June 2, 2013 along Riverside Drive in Truth or Consequences. There were lots of folks floating the Rio Grande that day, the water was flowing fast and the weather was hot! Floating the river is an excellent way to cool off during the summer.

Brad Lockwood Tubing the Stanislaus River 04/26/14
Brad, I made this short clip to show your family our point of view. These spots are so beautiful. Who would ever think we had scenery like this in Modesto. It's such a wonderful experience. However, catching fish was impossible, since the current was very fast. Honestly, the fastest current I have ever been in. The video was taken mostly in areas that were wide so it didn't look as fast. You can ask Brad himself about the narrow sections. Just to get a feel for how fast the water was flowing, we tubed from Jacob Myers Park (Santa Fe) to Mavis Stouffer Park (99) in Ripon. Amy, thanks for helping navigate & for the drop off/pick up. Good times!

A Huge Alligator in Blue Springs Florida 18.10.2015: A man was killed the next day - by this gator?
Snorkeling with a ~ 12 ft / 4 m alligator in Blue Spring State Park, Orange City. The swimming was reopened just moments before when I found this gator. It's eyes were looking at me.
I just heard the news about a man missing in Blue Spring. My deepest condolences to the families. Most probably this was the gator that was killed today 19.10.2015 and could be the attacker.
This is a quick low resolution upload, I had 2 cameras shooting video and photos of this gator.
Full encounter in HD:
Close up, short clip:
Long story:
I had researched Blue Spring beforehand and other spots for snorkeling in Florida. On Saturday 17.10 we visited Gator Park near Miami and saw gators during the airboat ride. I wanted get underwater footage of gators, but they did not let me in the water from the airboat dock where there were small, about 3 ft gators.
The airboat driver had snorkeled in the swamps since a kid and the told that gators could be found anywhere, but he was reluctant to point me to a certain spot. He told me that gators are attracted by splashing, but once they notice how big you are they will run. Other option is to dive which obviously reduces splashing and their visibility. I went snorkeling on the canal just across the road from Gator Park. The water was murky, about 6-8 ft visibility. I saw a lot of fish and turtles but no gators.
On Sunday 19th we drove past Orlando to Blue Spring State Park, hoping to see Manatees. My wife is not a keen snorkeler but this spot she had agreed to snorkel because of the clear water and possibility to see the gentle manatees. Just as we walked down the trail we saw some scuba divers walking out with their gear. Then the park rangers whistled everyone out of the water because the divers had spotted a gator.
I was disappointed about the closure and asked the rangers if snorkeling would be possible later or is swimming prohibited for the whole day. They replied that the situation was being checked and probably swimming would be resumed in an hour. We walked the trail to the river and back and the swimming was resumed. I jumped in the water immediately and asked my wife to get my fins from the car.
Soon my wife joined me in the water and we started swimming upstream, filming the gars and catfish. On the opposite bank about 100 yards from the steps we saw a large gator under a ledge and a fallen tree. I shouted through my snorkel: look a gator, to my wife. She saw it and swam back to the steps in a determined fashion. I remained filming but kept my distance. I swan upstream and filmed the gator from behind and then floated away with the stream.
The gator remained still for the whole encounter, but I could see from its eyes that it was not sleeping. The eyes were covered by a hazy light blue layer, but I could see the eye was moving and watching me. I had the feeling that it could make a dash on me any second.
On my way back I told about the gator to some guys splashing nearby and to the family on the swimming steps. My wife told the store clerk, but the rangers were not around. I would have been glad to point out the exact location and the disturbing nature of this gator. I don't think that a gator this size would be scared of a human anymore. We had a bad feeling about it and already and in the evening I googled if something had happened in Blue Spring. Therefore we were not surprised about the news next day.
