Experiencing the beauty of Western Nebraska is accentuated by the history and tales of Scotts Bluff National Monument and Chimney Rock. They are geological wonders that nearly everyone heard of growing up in textbooks....or at least while playing Oregon Trail back in the '90s.
Continuing our two week RV road trip, we didn't have high expectations when we traveled to Scottsbluff, Nebraska to see these historical locations, but were taken by surprise. The countryside is breathtaking and the significance of these landmarks is etched in every part of the surrounding areas.
Come explore #Nebraska with us as we tour some of the most recognized and mentioned landmarks along the Oregon Trail: #Scottsbluff, #ChimneyRock, and Courthouse and Jail Rock. We also visit a very-budget friendly but entertaining zoo and show you around our campsite at #LakeMinatare.

Riverside Discovery Center Zoo Director Anthony Mason joins Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Monday morning.
Anthony is on the program to talk about upcoming activities at the zoo, including the First State Bank Wild Lights beginning December 1st.
Another unique opportunity where Western Plains Business Solutions and the RDC will be giving away one 53 plush teddy bear each week for 10 weeks in support of the RDC's new orphaned grizzly bears.
Jingle Paws is where area residents are encouraged to donate enrichment activities to be given to the animals throughout the year.
The 1st Holiday Drop & Shop is an opportunity for parents to get that much needed shopping done without the kids. Spots are limited, but they will provide activities for the kids, including crafts, games, learning labs, animal encounter zoo hikes, and includes a pizza lunch and snacks. Email education@riversidediscoverycenter.org or stop by the zoo to register.

This is footage from the river/park area of Riverside in Scottsbluff. Again, just getting used to it and practicing. These are my first flights over water and I was nervous because it's a river, not a lake, and it's a fairly swift river as well. So losing the bird would have most likely resulted in actually totally losing it without a chance to recover it.
I'm trying to figure out how to put music with the video without YouTube taking the video down because of copyright.
