Lake Trail at Candlers Mountain in Lynchburg, VA
Lake Trail @ Candlers Mountain. Completed in 7.5 Minutes. Lots of fun! Intermediate trail with lots of roots and rocks. Mostly downhill with a few quick climbs going right back into descents. I really like this trail system. Shuttling is kinda needed since its quite a long and hard ride back to the top if you want to get some laps in.

Blackwater Creek Trail: Langhorne Rd - Hollins Mill Tunnel - Downtown Lynchburg
An afternoon bike ride from Langhorn Rd to Downtown Lynchburg, VA on the Blackwater Creek Trail
Walking the Lackawanna River Heritage trail part 1
Hollins Mill Tunnel in Lynchburg, Virginia
On the west side of downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, Blackwater Creek has carved a steep gorge as it makes its way to the James River. In the mid-19th century several railroad lines were built to connect Lynchburg to the western frontier and to other major cities to the north and east. One of the lines passed through the Blackwater Creek area and a 450 foot long tunnel was constructed. The tunnel was built by African slaves and Irish immigrants by a combination of black powder blasting and hand digging. Two groups started on either end of the tunnel and met in the middle.
The tunnel is named for the nearby Hollins Mill site, a historic water powered mill located along Blackwater Creek. Today, the property is owned by the City of Lynchburg and a popular walking/biking path passes through the tunnel. Hollins Mill Road and McIvor Street both pass over the tunnel. Despite its location right in downtown Lynchburg, the area has a fantastic wild feel to it.

High Bridge Trail in Farmville Va.
What a great trail which use to be an old train system. Wide and mostly flat with great views. It is 31 miles long and runs right in the middle of town.
New signs could help make Danville Riverwalk Trail safer

Bike Ride return The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail
Start : Depot St, Taylor, PA 18517
Finish : Scranton Riverwalk, Scranton, PA 18503
Via The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail
3.8 miles Mostly flat bike path 16 mins.
The multi-use Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (LRHT) follows Pennsylvania's Lackawanna River and, when complete, will be more than 70 miles. The trail begins at the confluence of the Lackawanna and Susquehanna rivers in Pittston, southwest of Scranton. The LRHT heads north to meet the Delaware and Hudson (D&H) Rail-Trail in Simpson. The two trails continue together to Union Dale. From Union Dale north, the D&H Rail-Trail carries on north to the New York State border. Scranton Section: Taylor (Depot Street) to Scranton (Dean Street): 6.1 miles. This segment is a mix of levees, unimproved trail, and the new Scranton Riverwalk.
High Bridge at High Bridge Trail State Park, VA 2-13-17
High Bridge Trail State Park is a 1,103 acre Rails to Trails park located in Appomattox, Prince Edward, Cumberland and Nottoway Counties, Virginia. This central Virginia trail is 31 miles in length and the featured attraction is the High Bridge which is 2,400 feet in length and towers 125 feet above the Appomattox River. For more information about this park and trail click here: and here:
The section that I hiked on this day was flat and easy hiking. The kind of hiking that you expect from most rail trails. I rate it 1 out of 5 Billygoats.
Directions to the trailhead closest to the High Bridge:
From downtown Farmville, VA take 15 Business North/North Main Street/Route 45 North. All of these routes merge in the town. Stay on this road until you cross the Appomattox River. Once over the river take an immediate right on to River Road. Stay on River Road for a few miles and keep your eye out for a big parking lot on the left. There is a power station right beside the parking lot, so you cant miss it. It's a fee area (4 bucks) but that is the parking lot for the most direct route. The trail is right beside the parking lot. Turn left on the trail and go 0.9 miles to the High Bridge. There will be a sign. There are other non-fee areas to get on the trail. If you want a longer ride/hike to the bridge and in a non-fee area, you'll have to check the map... Thanks for watching
