The La Cruz Market (officially called the Mercado Huanacaxtle) opens each year on the first Sunday in November and brings vendors from around the community to sell their authentic products and delicious foods on Sundays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. The market also provides various workshops for adults and children such as yoga and there is live music every Sunday.
The La Cruz Sunday Market now covers the entire area from La Cruz Mercado (Fish Market), out along the Marina walk way and down and around to the jetty. More vendors attend and sell their wares each year, coming from all over the state of Jalisco and Nayarit. Some as far as Guadalajara as well as Tepic!
Its fun to walk, eat, and shop at the market while listening to the live music being played by the waters edge. Many diverse local and visiting musicians and bands come to play every Sunday. It brings an energy of happiness and joy to the market place. Give them a “tip” as you pass by!

Bucerias Street Market, Riviera Nayarit, north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Take a stroll along the cobblestone streets in Bucerias, many say that it's like talking a walk to the past of Puerto Vallarta, back in time, the locals will greet you while they talk to their next-door neighbors, small stores, some international food dining establishments, government and real estate offices, art galleries, a local market with numerous Huichol works of art as well as small street stands that offer fresh oysters in their shells, maybe you might even get tempted to stay in town more than a day.
In the 1940's Bucerias was a few palapa huts, and the citizens cultivated corn, sorgo, sesame, peanuts and fruit, other activities included fishing. Access to the little village was not easy mainly throughout the rainy season (the summer months), however after 1955 a much better road was built there helping locals and providing easier access for visitors.
The most popular local fiestas are the religious festivities for the Virgen de la Paz, January 24 each year, includes peregrinations by sea on colorfully decorated boats with different spiritual symbolism, fireworks, dance, local Mexican delicacies and lots more.

Visit Puerto Vallarta & Mexico's Riviera Narayit
Visit Puerto Vallarta - Mexico's Riviera Narayit. I love Puerto Vallerta, from the hills that surround Banderas Bay with cobble stone streets where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton partied, to the vibrant town with unique shops.
The beaches and fiery sunsets, resorts and hotels and all the way into the Sierra Madre mountains with lush jungles and old mining towns.
This is Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta 2018: Cuale Island Flea Market
Cuale Island Flea Market is a great attraction that lets you experience nature in Puerto Vallarta, as well as do some souvenir shopping. You can get there very quickly from the Malecon.
The cable bridge is something you must experience. The more people walking on it, the more it wobbles!

Downtown Puerto Vallarta Cuale River Island, Hanging Bridges & Romantic Zone
Guided walking tour along Encino Street, past the Roma Cafe up until the Mercado Municipal Río Cuale (Cuale River Municipal Market) in downtown Puerto Vallarta Jalisco Mexico - here we turn right and over one of the three hanging bridges that connect the downtown area with Old Vallarta or the now called, Romantic Zone.
You can find all kinds of souvenirs in the Isla Cuale Flea Market, leather items, silver jewelry, t-shirts, traditional handicrafts, talavera ceramic, tequila, sombreros, hats, sunglasses and more.
In the past the area south of the Cuale River was used as farm land and for fruit trees, the first hanging bridge was inaugurated April 5th 1932 and they became part of the towns environment. There were special vehicles that took people over the river or you'd take a horse. October 3rd 1959 the first solid concrete bridge was opened after it was built in 100 days under the direction of Engineer Marcial Reséndiz Galván.
There's another hanging bridge connecting the island to the romantic zone by the Cuale Cultural center, where you'll also find a nice bridge (Iguana Bridge) connecting to the Gringo Gulch area of downtown PV.
I cross the bridge and show you a short panoramic view of some of the stands on the Cuale Island part of the bigger Cuale River Flea Market. The Cuale River Island is a relatively new geographic section of town that formed during strong rains in the 1970s. It was used as a playground into the 80s, hence the name Children's Island and then into the market and park that it is today.
We then cross over another hanging bridge over to the Romantic Zone, arriving at the corner of 5 de Febrero and Constitución Streets. We walk along Constitución past the, no closed, Gutierrez Rizo Supermarket and turn right on Aquiles Serdán Street.
