Georgia State Railroad Museum In Savannah
We visited the Georgia State Railroad Museum In Savannah Georgia on April 24th 2019. While we were there we live streamed and have some additional footage to share with you.
We learned a lot by visiting railroad museums all over the east coast from Georgia to Pennsylvania. This is the second museum in Georgia we visited this year. The other one was near Atlanta in Duluth Georgia.
Many Railroads of the past are rapidly disappearing from the landscape. Please support your local railroad museum by either visiting, donations or volunteering your skills. Many people we met at museums around the states are volunteering their time and knowledge rebuilding rolling stock, locomotives and even building and maintaining model railroads at the museums.

March Railfanning in NJ and FL: Ringling Bros Circus Train, CSX Seaboard Unit, RCRY Power & More!
The entire month of March compiled into one video to save on some time, so here's the month's-worth of railfanning around various areas!
Mar. 5th: Nothing too fancy but another visit to Piscataway on the anniversary of my Pop-Pop's birthday with some good friends in the slowly warming weather. Getting all set up we'd see 33K-05, 20K-04 followed by one of the big catches of the day being Q418-05 with YN2 70MAC leading, then came K622-02 bound for Philly with 2 CSX units and Q301-05. Once darkness fell we'd continue on at Prospect while catching 20W-04, Q410-02, a once-in-a-while-seen K534-03 and 25Z-05. Next another big catch of the day being Q409-05 with the CSX Seaboard System sticker unit #5461 leading 3 other units followed by Q300-03. After a quick drive up the road to Auto 5E/W on the Port Reading Secondary to see a dull 64K-03, we'd come back to the main to see Q034-04, 25R-05 and 25V-05 with a flat-back 70M leading the way.
Mar. 6th: Hanging around early into the next morning, we'd see 18N-04 and then wrap it up for the night. Heading out to the tracks later that morning after staying over my Grandma's house, I would end up catching some of the morning rush, being a massive 20E-05, 20R-05 with an epic RS3L-equipped leader heading up the Port Reading Secondary, a one-unit-wonder 15J-06 with a solo SD60E, 212-05 with NS/NS/UP (including the NS 6969 Sex Unit and a UP Gevo) and finally 23Q-05 hauling extra empty buckets into town behind a solo D9W. One last visit before wrapping up the train adventures would be to Morristown to visit the M&E Yard, where I'd see some of the equipment sitting around, including C424 #18 and Maine Eastern GP9 #764 (which has since been sent out to Strasburg).
Mar. 12th: Kicking off the next weekend for trains, Sam & I would swing by the Raritan Central yards in Edison to shoot some of the local power before going to the Greenburg Train Show at the Raritan Center Complex, which consisted of an LTEX Ex. ATSF/BNSF GP38, two LTEX Ex. SP SW1500's, an LTEX Ex. SOU SW1500 and an RCRY GP20. After the train show a little group of us would head up to Piscataway to enjoy some CSAO main line action with other friends. While out before darkness rolled in we'd see 65K-12 rerouting over the main, Q301-12 with 3 engines and Q409-12. The darkness wouldn't stop us as we'd continue on into the night, catching 25Z-12 with a 70M leader sporting an awesome RS5T horn (and hornshow), 20W-11 and Q418-12 with a nice YN2 duo. Splitting away for a few to grab a quick bite to bring back to the tracks, we'd just barely make it to see 18N-11 with a nice EMD trio (M-2/SD70/SD60E *new*), Q034-11, 290-11 and finally 25R-12.
Mar. 13th: Catching only a couple trains in the carryover Sunday morning, we'd end up catching Q439-12 with an unpatched C&O hopper in the consist, 23Z-12 with an SD70 (P5) leading the way and finally Q438-11 before wrapping it up for the night.
Mar. 14th: Heading out to the tracks before my night class on a dreary Monday, I'd swing by Bound Brook and withstand the rain and cold as I awaited the arrival of the circus train on Pi Day (3.14). First up during the outing would be a dull 212-13, followed by 22V-14 with nice power and MA01 heading east as lite power. Then the neat trains started parading through, being K140-12 with BNSF/BNSF power (a sight not too commonly seen anymore) followed by 047-30 hauling the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus train - the Blue Legends Tour - with their final run of the elephants (as part of the show) through town as they headed for Roanoke VA. After the main goal was accomplished, MA02 would return to Manville Yard, 054-14 with 2 H&W pipe loads and finally 20K-13.
Mar. 20th: Down in Florida for my Spring Break, and on the last official day of being down in the Sunshine State, my parents and I would allow me to find a spot to catch a couple trains before a family get-together at an uncle's house. Swinging by the Robert W. Willaford Railroad Museum in Plant City I'd get to see some of the local railroad signals and equipment hanging around - like ACL engine #508 and Seaboard Caboose #5735. In terms of trains I would time it perfectly and get to see 4 before having to head out, being K420-20 with a UP 70M trio and L740-20 coming up the S-Line as well as X793-20 with 3 engines and Amtrak's Silver Star P091-18 with the Pullman (NYC) Babbling Brook observation car on the back.
Mar. 26th: Being back in Jersey, it was time for more freights. Catching one at The Spot in Bound Brook, we'd see a very short 33K-26. Joining the the crew in Piscataway, we'd continue on and catch K139-26 with UP/CSX, 20K-25, 20W-25, Q301-26, a nice race between west between Q409-26 and MA80 and finally 25Z-26. Once darkness fell we'd see Q439-26, Q300-24, 25R-26 with 5 engines, 290-24 and finally Q034-25. Catching a couple last freights back at the Bound Brook station, I'd see 294-24, 23Z-26 with 5 engines and finally 65K-26.
