Twin Falls, ID - RV Living
We continue to explore southern Idaho and land in Twin Falls this week. Our first stop is to visit Shoshone Falls, the Niagara of the West. From Shoshone Falls, we hike up to the rim of the Snake River Canyon to view an important piece of history in TJ's childhood memories. In 1974, motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel attempted to jump across the Snake River Canyon - 45 years later, we enjoy exploring the launch site of that ill-fated jump. Our last stop in Twin Falls is to visit the Perrine Bridge, which we get a beautiful view of from the Centennial Waterfront Park.

The National Park Service is culling local deer herds in Rock Creek Park in response to overpopulation. Students at Woodrow Wilson High School spoke to residents of D.C. to gather different perspectives on this method of species population control.

My channel is about full time RV Living in an older RV while keeping the wheels rolling on a budget. I do the repairs, updates and upgrades myself. I’ve become my own RV Mechanic/Medic! I seek boondocking opportunities every chance I can and power the RV with 500 watts of solar and approximately 500 amp hours of batteries. RV Resorts are just not our style!

Rock Island Twin Falls
Here's a quickie waterfall video I shot at the Rock Island State Park in Rock Island, Tennessee. Twin Falls flows from underground caverns in the mountain into the Caney Fork river. This part of the river is very popular place for kayakers wanting to challenge the river's large waves and rapids. An interesting note is that the source of the falls is actually seepage from Great Falls lake on the other side of the mountain and seeps through underground caverns connecting the two sides of the mountain.
Castle Rocks State Park- Hiking Idaho
Almo, Idaho is home to two magnificent parks with natural rock sculpture gardens. This trail takes you around the rock hoodoo forest of Castle Rocks State Park. I suggest you to download the gpx and load it into your phone before starting the trail as most of Almo and the park has no cell service. While this trail takes you around the perimeter of the rock garden, going in will surely offer another amazing experience of hikes and rock climbing (rock faces). Most of the trail is well marked. From the trailhead, we walked into the rock formations. About 3/4 of the trail is well marked in the counterclockwise direction of the trail. However, once you get to the 3/4 mark, the trail markers seem to guide hikers back into the trail rather than back to the trailhead. Because of this, we ended up going through some of the rock formations, which cut off or down some of the trail. We finished the trail from the further parking lot, walking down the road back to the trailhead parking lot. Though we trekked back via the park road, it seems the actual trail actually also does end through walking on the park road to the trailhead parking lot, but from a different entry point. We are happy with the trail we ended up taking though it was not the expected one.
We went in the spring. Going up to the high point, the trail was mostly flat with gradual 900 foot climb. However going down from the high point was a bit harder. The ascent down was steeper in some sections. Some sections were rocky and there were about 5-6 streams to cross, with some muddy sections. We neither got wet or stuck in mud. We did not have any of these obstacles on the way up. Though we saw some bought mountain bikes, and mountain bikers can do this trail, we did not see any on this trail. The way up would probably be easier for the bikers than the way down. The way down also had some ruts or gullies that could be tricky for mountain bikers to go around. I am saying this as a non-mountain biker! :D
This park is about 130 miles NW of Salt Lake City. You can also see some wildflowers here!

Note: Alltrails named this trek Cathedral Rocks Loop. but at the park, trail markers named this trek as Castle Rocks Trail.

IDAHO WATERFALLS
When we traveled though Idaho, the potato state, we didn't know we would come across some of the biggest waterfalls we have seen so far! Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls Idaho, is taller than Niagara falls. The other fall was just a few miles away from Shoshone. Perrine Bridge was another great attraction to catch as soon as you entered Idaho. We both agree Idaho is an underrated state. It is very beautiful! Thanks for watching!
