Rock Island Lines Trailer
Rock Island Lines (Frank Dodge mystery #1), by Dean Klinkenberg
Frank Dodge is out to resurrect the story of a brutal gangster by writing about one of his descendants, Miguel Ramirez. Dodge's obsession with the story, though, will ultimately make him question who he is and what he's capable of doing. When Ramirez is found floating in the Mississippi River, Dodge finds himself on the wrong side of a murder investigation and wishing that he'd left the gangster's memory locked away in the past.

Rock Island Cop oversteps his bounds
A cop takes my keys while he writes a littering ticket and shines his flashlight at my camera. The other cop lies and tells me I can't record in a public place. The female cop lied and said its legal to take my keys out of my car to make sure I don't leave. Yea right
Rock Island Arsenal
The Rock Island Arsenal comprises 946 acres, located on Arsenal Island, originally known as Rock Island, on the Mississippi River between the cities of Davenport, Iowa, and Rock Island, Illinois. It lies within the state of Illinois. The island was originally established as a government site in 1816, with the building of Fort Armstrong. It is now the largest government-owned weapons manufacturing arsenal in the United States. It has manufactured military equipment and ordnance since the 1880s. In 1919–20 one hundred of the Anglo-American or Liberty Mark VIII tanks were manufactured, although too late for World War I. It is designated as a National Historic Landmark.
Established as both an arsenal and a center for the manufacture of leather accoutrements and field gear, today it provides manufacturing, logistics, and base support services for the Armed Forces. The Arsenal is the only active U.S. Army foundry, and manufactures ordnance and equipment, including artillery, gun mounts, recoil mechanisms, small arms, aircraft weapons sub-systems, grenade launchers, weapons simulators, and a host of associated components. Some of the Arsenal's most successful products include the M198 and M119 towed howitzers, and the M1A1 gun mount. About 250 military personnel and 6,000 civilians work there. The 2000 census population was 145.

Illinois Adventure #1301 Franklin County Jail Museum
The Historic Jail Museum in Benton serves as the home of the Franklin County Tourism Bureau. This beautifully restored 1905 structure houses memorabilia of the gang era from the days of prohibition, as well as mementos from famous Benton natives, including General John A. Logan, actor John Malkovich, NBA basketball star Doug Collins, and Beatle George Harrison, who visited his sister in Benton in the summer of 1963.
Special Mentions: The jail became a symbol for the gang era in Southern Illinois during Prohibition, and became the last stop for Charlie Birger, the last man publically hanged in Illinois on April 19, 1928 for the 1926 murder of West City's mayor, Joe Adams. A new jail was built in 1991, and the old jail was placed on the register of Historic Places on Feb. 1, 1999.
Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area - Aerial - P2V+
Aerial view of Providence Canyon filmed with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ quadcopter.
Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area:
Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon” is a testament to the power of man’s influence on the land. Massive gullies as deep as 150 feet were caused simply by poor farming practices during the 1800s, yet today they make some of the prettiest photographs within the state. The rare Plumleaf Azalea grows only in this region and blooms during July and August when most azaleas have lost their color. The canyon soil’s pink, orange, red and purple hues make a beautiful natural painting at this quiet park.
Visitors can enjoy views of the canyons from the rim trail, taking care to stay behind fences and off the fragile canyon edge. Hikers who explore the deepest canyons will usually find a thin layer of water along the trail, indication of the water table below. Guests who hike to canyons 4 and 5 may want to join the Canyon Climbers Club. Backpackers can stay overnight along the backcountry trail which highlights portions of the canyon and winds through mixed forest. Camping, cottages and efficiency units are available nearby at Florence Marina State Park on 45,000-acre Lake Walter F. George.
Visitors are urged to use caution on trails and to not go beyond fences or overlooks. Erosion can cause the canyon walls to collapse.
The custom built Donald Trump 1911 pistol by Jesse James
On display at the Jesse James Firearms Unlimited booth at SHOT Show 2018, is a beautiful hand-made 1911 pistol that James made for his good friend Donald J. Trump. The pistol is on display at the booth (#411) until Jan. 26.
When Trump became the president, James felt an obligation to make his friend a gun. I build cool guns. So, it's like, I'm going to build a presidential gun, he said.
Setting out to build the gun, James wanted to capture the essence of Trump. Donald Trump's kind of old school, like 1970s, James said. You know, New York City rich guy. So, a little bit of gold, a little bit of decorative filigree work.
Being the 45th president of the United States, of course the gun had to be a large 1911 in .45ACP. James used one of his Grandmaster X seven-inch 1911 model frames as a base, and added a two-inch comp to the barrel to bring the total length of the pistol to nine inches. This gave him enough real estate to be able to write the president's entire name down one side Donald J. Trump. On the other side he put, The 45th President of the United States of America.
It's kind of like, a modern Dirty Harry gun, said James. He's kind of bigger than life, I think. So he needs a bigger than life pistol.
James only made one of the gun and he hasn't spoken to Trump about it. He figures he'll probably make a trip to the White House and present the gun to his friend. However, if he does this in a formal fashion, by law, the gun then becomes the property of the people. So Trump wouldn't be able to keep it.
To this Jesse said, I guess I shouldn't bitch about having a pistol in the presidential museum.
