TasteBuds : Whiskey Review. We sample Rocktown Hickory Smoked Whiskey from Little Rock, Arkansas
This week we grab a glass of Rocktown Hickory Smoked Whiskey all the way from Little Rock, Arkansas. This one may make a second appearance as it's apparently great in cocktails, which suits us just fine.
You can call us Taste Buds or the Two Guys behind the counter, it doesn't matter to us. We are two guys from Missouri doing a Craft Beer Review and a Whiskey Review (or Whisky Review depending where you are from) with a drive to always Try Something New. We won't drive you crazy with snobby tasting notes that no one else will understand, just a general idea of what the beer or food tastes like. We want YOU to join us in trying exciting new things to open our minds, and pallets, to something different. So join Chris Horn and Lyal Strickland as we foray into some suds and grains and stumble all over ourselves trying to sound smarter than they really are.

Read more - - Phil Brandon talks about the opening of Rock Town Distillery, a 15,000-square-foot distillery and warehouse near Heifer International on the fringes of the River Market in Little Rock. The still will allow Rock Town Distillery to soon begin production of its hand-made, premium, small batch distilled spirits - Brandon's Vodka and Brandon's Gin - and to start aging Brandon's Bourbon. Each will be made from only Arkansas grains. Friday's arrival of the 250-gallon copper pot still marks the first craft distillery in Arkansas.

Our Afternoon at the Copper Run Distillery
Yesterday, Gail and I took a drive through the Ozark Mountains. We headed south on Highway 65 and turned off at county highway BB. After driving several miles we made a left onto highway 176, drove south about five miles, then turned west onto Day road. In two or three minutes, we turned into the parking lot of the Copper Run Distillery.
Once inside we sample some of their merchandise - moonshine (unaged corn liquor), whiskey (moonshine that has been aged in charred white oak barrels), and rum (distilled sugar cane spirits).
A little while later the Peppersauce Alley String Band arrived and played several sets of old time mountain music as we sat on the sofa in the parlor sipping whiskey sours, moonshine margaritas, and rum punches.
