Ep. 124: Rockport-Fulton, Texas | RV travel camping
The twin cities of Rockport and Fulton line the western shoreline of Aransas Bay along the Texas Gulf Coast, and we visit the area with our RV in this episode of Grand Adventure.
Tourism is a prosperous industry in the region, with visitors arriving to fish, bird or sight-see. Given the location of Aransas bay, shipping has always been a major industry. Following the Civil War, the meatpacking industry became a major source of income for ports on the bay, especially Rockport and Fulton.
We'll tour the area including the harbor, dining and the Fulton Mansion State Historic Site, while staying at Drifters Resort with full-hookup sites including cable TV and WiFi. Most of the park's RV sites are large enough to accommodate a boat trailer along with your RV. There's plenty of room between sites, and the grounds are meticulously manicured.

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Goose Island State Park - Rockport, Texas: Camping, RVing, Fishing and Birding
Thanks for checking out my YouTube video on Goose Island State Park in Rockport, Texas. I was investigating the park for future adventures during July of 2017. Yes, I plan to come back in the Winter. It is so much cooler then.
This is one of Texas' great camping, RVing, birding and fishing destinations. It's especially popular during the winter. You do need a reservation. Please check out the links at the bottom of this page for more information about Goose Island State Park.

Rockport Texas : Goose Island State Park : Gulf Of Mexico : Full Time Overlanding
We are more grateful each day for the opportunity to be out here full time overlanding.
The look of the Gulf of Mexico is postcard perfect to me!
Despite the mosquitos and the weather we wouldn't want to be doing anything else. Full time overlanding is the life for us!
Seeing the issues other communities face and the solutions they come up with gives me a whole world view of the network of people that make this world go around and save the world from the rest of us.
Our time in the gulf is coming to a close join us next week for our last beach adventures in Texas.

Whooping Crane tour
The Aransas Wildlife Refuge is one of the last nesting grounds for the endangered whooping crane. Rockport Birding and Kayak adventures offers tours through the winter up the Intracoastal Waterway to the edge of the refuge where birders can see this rare and beautiful animal up close in it's natural habitat without disturbing it.
Four For Feathers: Hunting Coastal Texas Pintail Ducks
R.K. (Rob) Sawyer grew up on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, a student of both its waterfowl and rich history. The latter inspired him to chronicle the mostly undocumented waterfowl history of his adopted state, Texas. The result was his first book, A Hundred Years of Texas Waterfowl Hunting, and a second, titled Texas Market Hunting: Stories of Waterfowl, Game Laws and Outlaws. Both are available from Texas A&M University Press and Amazon.com.
The legends and lore of pintails in coastal Texas are not unlike the canvasback and the Susquehanna Flats. While most of the native prairie grasses and ephemeral prairie ponds in Texas are gone, hunting clubs such as Thunderbird Hunting Club and Spread Oaks Ranch have worked to create habitat that still attracts great swarms of pintails as they trade between Gulf of Mexico barrier islands and interior shallow flats and rice fields. With their high approach and habit of circling a decoy spread four or five before committing, a limit of pintails falls to only the most experienced of hunters.

The Big Tree, Rockport, after Hurricane Harvey (Part 2)
I return to the Big tree for the first time since Hurricane Harvey, which happened over a month ago. The roads have been inaccessible until recently, and all the construction and cleanup makes it difficult to get in.
Please watch my first Big Tree video, which I did a few months prior to the hurricane, and check out my other videos. Like and subscribe if you enjoyed this. Peace!

Fishing - Bird Island Basin
In the Padre Island National Seashore near Corpus Christi, TX. I fished 3 hrs and had 15 minutes of action from about 08:45 to 09:00 that morning. I had given up on my spot and was wading back throwing the top water because I can cover more ground with it, as opposed to the popping cork.
Ep. 122: Padre Island National Seashore | Texas RV travel camping
We share all sorts of sights and sounds around Padre Island and its namesake National Seashore in this episode, including camping at Padre Balli County Park and boondocking right on the sand at North Beach, which should be a bucket list camping experience for any beach lover or surf fisherman. We also go kayaking on Laguna Madre at Bird Island Basin, and visit the bayside city of Corpus Christi, and Port Aransas on adjacent Mustang Island, where they're still recovering from Hurricane Harvey's landfall two years later. But we start off with an interview with the king and queen of Texas camping, Tom & Stacie Langland from @RVTexasYall.
