Rocky Woods ~ The Trustees of Reservation
Yesterday we went to The Trustees of Reservation Rocky Woods in Medfield Massachusetts. I have not been here in years. It was such a beautiful day. We were there for 3 hours. I loved the walk up on Tower Path. There was such a magnificent view. You could see Gillette Stadium from up top,, which is where the New England Patriots play. We plan on coming back this Fall when the leaves start to change color.

King Phillip's Overlook is a principle destination for a Rocky Narrows hike. The firmament gets a viewing and is found to be stunning.

December 26, 2018 Chris and I went for a wonderful Nature Walk at Shattuck Reservation in Medfield Massachusetts. This reservation is part of The Trustees of Reservation. This trail also connect with the Bay Circuit Trails. You park your car at the Noon Hill parking Lot.
We just found out that there are more trails for this Reservation across Causeway Street. We had only walked around Holt Pond in the past. This is a lovely trail that brings you out to the Charles River.

ABANDONED INSANE ASYLUM GHOST TOWN - Shutter Island and X-Men ( New Mutants ) Filming Locations
This insane asylum is located just outside of Boston and originally opened up in 1847. Years later it became a State Hospital but eventually closed down in 2003. Since its closure the old asylum has been used as a filming location in Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio, The Box starring Cameron Diaz, as well as the upcoming X-Men Horror film called The New Mutants which stars Maisie Williams ( Arya Stark from Game of Thrones )

Rocky Narrows ~ Trustees of Reservations ~ Beautiful Day
It was such a beautiful weekend. Today (10/9/11) we went for a walk at Rocky Narrows ~ A Trustees of Reservation in Sherborn Massachusetts. We haven't been here in about 10 years. We walked on some beautiful trails. There was several great lookouts. There is a trail that leads you to the granite bluff that bears the name King Phillips that overlooks the Charles River and Railroad Bridge and Rocky Narrow lookout Ledge which also has a beautiful view that looks through the Hemlocks over looking the Charles River.
There were many varieties of Mushrooms.
We walked down to the bank of the Charles River. A few Trees had started to change color. It was so pretty.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley and Fangirl Quest. Those are all people who have walked the grounds of the Medfield State Hospital.
Canoeing out to Devils Foot Island ~ Stop River ~ Medfield Massachusetts
In this video we canoe out to Devils Foot Island on the Stop River in Medfield Massachusetts. We went on June 25, 2017.
We started on Dover Road in Millis at the Charles River and paddled out to the Stop River. Due to lots of Spring rain we were able to easily canoe out to Devils Foot Island.
What a fun place to explore. This was the first time we have visited the Island. Normally the water levels would be to low this time of year to be able to canoe out here.
I'm not sure how the Island got it name. There are two Foot Steps' in the Boulders that they call Devils Foot.
While we were exploring we saw a large Garter Snake. We had a picnic lunch then continued back up the Stop River turning around at Noonhill Road. We did a round trip of 8 miles. It was such a great day.

Saturday (Jan 7, 2012) it got to 60*. Hard to believe this is winter in New England. What a beautiful day it was. We went to Medfield Massachusetts to check out a few places we saw online.
First we went to:
Bill Martins Field ~ Flying Field
From Rt. 27 in Medfield turn onto Hospital Road.
Immediately after the railroad tracks, turn left onto the dirt road.
After passing the gate, follow the dirt road for about 1/4 mile, up over a gentle rise, and you'll see the field. We ended up parking on Hospital road across from the entrance to the field and walked in. We saw several people flying remote controlled airplanes.

We watched the planes for a while then continued our walk through the field over to the Charles River. There was some ice on the banks. We walked up to the train Tracks and Bridge which is Bay Colony Rail.
We then headed over to:
Medfield Charles River Reservation: (Medfield State Forest)
This was a very nice place to walk around and connect with nature.
From Rt. 27 Medfield: Parking lot is on the left before you go over the Charles River Bridge.

Its is directly across from the sign to the Medfield Charles River Reservation
