NH Fire Tower List map…
Our quest to stand at every site where a fire tower stands, once stood or was proposed, brought us to Stewarts Peak, #48 for us on the NH Fire Tower List. We bushwhacked up to the summit.

A quick trip up the Tuckerman Ravine Trail on Mount Washington. The Severe Weather App on our phones warned of an incoming thunder storm from the west, and since we didn't plan or pack for bad weather, we backed off before reaching our destination.

Welcome everyone to my journey to the top of the famed Mount Monadnock. The mountain that everyone does, then says “wow, that was a lot harder then it looked”.
Do not let the popularity fool you into thinking this will be a cake walk type of hike. What waits for on your climb is a 3,166 foot summit, a very windy summit and if the weather is clear, spectacular 360 degree views.
On this day, I decide to hike the mountain in late October, the day after decent rains. Which was rather surprising since 2016 was a year that saw serious drought in this region. from a poor winter and lack of summer rains.
I kicked off the hike around 7:15am with being the only car in the parking lot at the Marlboro trailhead. My plan was to start at the Marlboro trailhead, then hook up with the Dublin junction and follow it all the way to glory.
What occurred was several hours of patience, while I navigated a lot of rock piles, scrabbled up rock faces and worked hard to not slip and fall in either direction. Only to be rewarded with about a view of 100 feet in any direction at the summit.
I have to say this was not the easiest of hikes I’ve done and I certainly would not recommend it for those that are looking an easy walk.
