New Romney Railway (1966)
New Romney, Kent.
M/S of a model steam train (a third of life-size) of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway standing on a track; a name plate on the side of the train reads 'Winston Churchill'. As the train starts to move off we see the driver, squashed into the cab, showing how small the train is.
Various shots show trains on 'The World's Smallest Railway' being polished and driven along the tracks; passengers look rather cramped in the little carriages; they get on and off the train at a scaled down platform. Several shots of the train steaming along through the countryside and past a caravan site; children look out of the carriages as they zip by.
Commentator tells us that during the war, the German air force thought it was important enough to send their bombers on a raid after raid to put it out of action, but their total toll was one engine derailed.
Cuts exist - see separate record.

Hi and welcome to Aidan's Railways.
1st: My channel is aimed at adult model makers and collectors of railway related models.
2nd: My channel also covers visits to railways around the U.K. in various gauges.
3rd: My channel also covers events that myself and my brother attend in relation to his classic car collection.
Aidan's railways is a channel where i shall bring you reviews of railway related models, the construction of various layouts in different gauges (OO, OO9, O & G).
For years i have collected models, locomotives, rolling stock and scenery with the plan to build Aidan's Railways.
I have used the term Railways because there will ultimately be more than one railway and in various gauges.
I have a real passion for railways and model making.
So follow me as i go through reviewing my stock, New Purchase's, Constructing the Railways and getting Inspiration from our Days out and visiting railways and related locations.
Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway 16.11.2019 (Meet up)
Sorry for the lateness of this one, this was meant to be uploaded on the 20th but College got in the way and editing was pushed back along with having no motivation to edit it. Then came the struggle of rendering due to both my computer being slow and my storage. But I would like to thank Luke & Ed for making this happen

2019 Jul 17 Dungeness and the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway
Just back from a short break to Sussex, in the South of England, revisiting some places I've not been in over a decade. Here's a short video of Dungeness (complete with the always-popular sights such as the Nuclear Power Station).
The RH&DR is a very popular tourist railway that also serves the local communities and even runs trains to take children to school. You will find older video of this Railway on some of my Hastings/Eastbourne videos that I took a long time ago and which I've posted previously on this channel. The station at Dungeness has been much modernised since then.
Hope you like this video as a change of pace from model railways (don't worry, they'll be back very soon).
Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway 09/08/2019
A day on the Kent coast, with the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway in full swing for the summer months. Living up to their title of Kent's Mainline in Miniature, the railway fronted no fewer than 6 locomotives to operate their intensive Pink timetable, with a mix of steam and diesel traction on display over the 13 mile line between Hythe and Dungeness.
The railways' flagship engine, Pacific No1 Green Goddess was among the locos hauling services over the course of the day. With the addition of No2 Northern Chief and No3 Southern Maid, this resulted in the oldest 3 locomotives on the railway running together - all having been built in 1925.
Locomotives were regularly swapped around on services at New Romney, allowing loco crews to have short breaks as well as a chance to service the engines.
Locomotives:
RH&DR Pacific Class - No3 Southern Maid
RH&DR Mountain Class - No5 Hercules
RH&DR Pacific Class - No2 Northern Chief
RH&DR 'North American' Pacific Class - No9 Winston Churchill
RH&DR Diesel Class - No12 J.B. Snell
RH&DR Pacific Class - No1 Green Goddess
All footage filmed on Friday the 9th of August 2019.

Short visit on steam railway: Romney,Hythe & Dymchurch in England
Steam railway.
• From the homepage of Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway:
«Since 1927 the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway has been an integral part of the landscape of the Romney Marsh.
Known as “Kent’s Mainline in Miniature”, our world famous one-third full size steam & diesel locomotives have powered their way along the 13½ miles of track from the Cinque Port town of Hythe, terminating in Dungeness; a National Nature Reserve. With 4 stations in between, all within walking distance of a beach, our railway provides you with an opportunity to explore this unique corner of Kent. Coast & country walks, with all manner of wildlife & flora to be seen.
The official opening took place on 16th July 1927, with Hercules hauling that inaugural train from Hythe to New Romney. When first opened to the public the line only covered, in double track, the eight miles between Hythe and New Romney. Owner Captain Jack Howey soon had his eye on extending the line and in 1928 double tracks carried the trains to Dungeness via Greatstone.
The Railway is probably best known for its superb fleet of one-third full size steam and diesel locomotives, all of which have been built to run safely at speeds of 25mph on rails only 15 inches apart. All of the steam locomotives were built between 1925 and 1937. »

Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway
The Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is a 15 ‘’gauge railway that runs as a main line in miniature for 14 miles from Hythe to Dungeness near Folkstone, Kent. On Monday 2nd July 2018 I paid another visit to this wonderful line travelling via St Pancras and Folkstone west to arrive at Hythe for the 1.30 pm departure hauled by 4-6-2 pacific No 10 Doctor Syn. At New Romney, the principle station on the line I broke my journey for an hour to watch various arrivals and departures before continuing my journey hauled by pacific No7 Typhoon to the end of the line at Dungeness. After a pleasant 25-minute stop over there. Typhoon setoff and ran back as far as New Romney. Here the loco s were changed and once again my train was hauled by Doctor Syn back to Hythe. Always a pleasure to travel on this line and a visit is thoroughly recommended.

Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway 'End of Season Parade' - 26.10.2019
The third and final event I'd attend in October would this time take me down to the Kent coast for the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway's 'End of Season Parade', a railway I've wanted to return to for a few years.
As with usual RHDR galas they ran a very intensive timetable, with non stop trains, parallel runs and a multi header special, to name a few.
Locos in service were....
N.o 1 'Green Goddess'
N.o 2 'Northern Chief'
N.o 4 'The Bug'
N.o 5 'Hercules'
N.o 6 'Samson'
N.o 8 'Hurriance'
N.o 12 'J.B.Snell'
Diesel 'Shelagh of Eskdale' (Visiting from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway)
Unfortunately like the last galas this month the weather wasn't great, with strong winds throughout the day and rain in the afternoon, so apologies for the shakes and wind noise. Other than that the gala was brilliant, very whistle happy!
Enjoy!
