Roosevelt National Forest Campsite on a Rocky Mountain Pass - I made a HUGE mistake!
Camping on a Rocky Mountain Pass is the best! I had no plan and no specific location in mind. I headed out to what I thought would be a a good area to find dispersed camping and sure enough, I walked into one of the best places to camp in Colorado. There were campsites littered all over.
This area back behind Nederland / Rollinsville is absolutely stunning, providing mountain peak views, a reservoir (Mammoth Reservoir) and plenty of back country woods to explore in the Roosevelt National Forest.
I set up for tent camping and set out to explore, it is so beautiful and why I love the mountain states so much!
Entrance to the mountain pass:
I'm not going to give away the specific location, you will have to adventure out and find you're own spot! I will mention, this road requires 4WD vehicle and standard clearance although high clearance might be preferred in spots.

ADVENTURE SPIRIT ONE· Born of the desire to get free.
Years ago, in my late 20’s, I realized I was on a destructive path. Most of my grown up life had been spent working extra hard for companies I was not interested in and partying extra hard to numb the pain of a meaningless existence. I was as destructive as possible towards myself out of sheer misery for what I understood as “life”.
I began to dream of a different life...one without pain. A life worth living. This initially drove me to seek adventure, travel excessively and spend a lot of money. All of my money to be exact. Ending in bankruptcy and emotional disaster, I finally committed to change. As I battled back and forth between my old life and the dream of a new life, I began to face my addictions one by one, slowly removing their power over me in order to be truly free.
It is in this journey of unwinding a lifetime of destructive thoughts, that I decided to start making videos about things that interested me. I have a desire to spread hope to others who are feeling as I did, wandering without purpose. I’m only just beginning, and I invite you to come along.
In this way, I created Adventure Spirit One. To me, it symbolizes a spaceship that I can enter at any time and transport myself to another land. One where freedom exists, dreams are real and I’m the pilot.
In Love & Peace,
Jonathan

Skiing up to the Colorado Mountain Club's Brainard Lake Cabin, Roosevelt National Forest, Colorado
The Boulder group, of the Colorado Mountain Club, maintains this wonderful little cabin adjacent Brainard Lake. The cabin (and lake!) is located in the Roosevelt National Forest in Boulder County west of the town of Ward off of Colorado Highway 72. Brainard is south of Rocky Mountain National Park and adjacent to the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. At the time of this video the outside temperature, at around noon, was approximately 15 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 9 Celsius) with the trees protecting us from most of the wind. The cabin is only available through reservations so give the Colorado Mountain Club a call if you're interested!

Caribou Dispersed Campground
Took a quick trip up to Caribou for camping(June 30-July 1). Had a lot of great scenic trails and nature was awesome. Only 5 miles northwest of the Nederland townsite. Very few campers except for a party down mountain. Just had to deal with the partgoers down the mountain. Playing some dubstep till about 5 AM. Not sure if its a normal thing but slept through it anyways. Hope you guys love the video and photography. Like and subscribe. Dont forget about hitting the notification button for updates.

Backcountry skiing to Brainard Lake, Roosevelt National Forest, Clorado
Here I was able to record Bob Ahl, and then Sherry Richardson (our leader), on a Colorado Mountain Club backcountry ski trip up to Brainard Lake, Colorado. Despite their cheerful appearances we were already at about 10,500 feet (3,200 metres) with a temperature of 10 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 12 degrees Celsius) with occasional wind gusts through the trees. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun!

Stillwater Pass Dispersed Camping Colorado
Please watch: RIU Palace Bavaro Hotel Review and Family Vacation
--~--
Dispersed camping at Stillwater Pass near Lake Granby was the perfect mountain getaway. Close to Denver but it felt like a thousand miles away. The forest service roads were generally in pretty decent shape, but we struggled to find a camping spot on the main road. Eventually, after a few miles of searching, we found the perfect primitive camping spot and short of a few off-road atvs, we rarely saw another camper. This was national forest camping at its best and don't miss an opportunity to make a day trip to the town of Grand Lake, you won't regret it!

Lost Lake National Forest Camping Colorado
Come along on this camping and hiking adventure where we visit Lost Lake National Forest Campground. It is located in Western Colorado along the West Elk Scenic Loop up at the top of Kebler Pass. Kick back in your easy chair and enjoy the view as I hike trails around three beautiful hidden Alpine lakes - each around 10,000 feet.
Starcraft 15RB AR-one Extreme~Camping Colorado Roosevelt N.F
A weekend on Mammoth Gulch road. Just a hour and a half away from home. No reservations needed when you camp in the National forest. We have been to this 4x4 area many times for tent camping. It was nice to be able to bring the TT here for a whole new experience.
Roosevelt National Forest (Colorado)/Solo Backpack Trip
This is a slideshow from my 2 day hike in the Roosevelt National Forest, just west of the Gross Reservoir near Boulder, CO. I hiked in through Forsythe Gulch, and then up to higher ground on the west side of the reservoir. I hiked out on Forest Service Road 359.
It had been approximately 70+ degrees, but dropped to 20 degrees overnight when a snow storm rolled in. This was my first time camping by myself, so I was a little nervous about the storm. Also, I'm from Chicago so I don't know a lot about high altitude weather. However, even being nervous, this was definitely a worthwhile experience.

This trip was made possible by getting laid off from my job, so I traveled from Chicago to Denver for a few interviews. Does anyone have work for an environmental consultant???!!!

Cache La Poudre-North Park Scenic and Historic Byway Near Fort Collins Colorado
The Cache La Poudre-North Park Scenic Byway leads visitors from the city of Fort Collins to the quiet, bowl-shaped valley of North Park, located just west of the Continental Divide.
The Cache La Poudre River Canyon and the Roosevelt National Forest characterize the eastern section of the byway, while the North Park valley dominates the western section. North Park was once a favorite bison grazing ground, and today deer, antelope, elk, moose, beaver, and coyote populate the area. There are all types of wildlife to be seen on the byway, and migrating waterfowl flock to the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge.
Recreation along the byway is high on visitors' lists. The Poudre River, Colorado's only federally designated National Wild and Scenic River, is a popular spot for whitewater boaters and anglers.
The Cache La Poudre-North Park Scenic Byway was once a useful transit corridor for Native Americans and early white explorers. Today, the byway is a destination spot for travelers looking for beautiful scenery, solitude, diverse landscape, and recreational opportunities.
