The Beach: Roque Bluffs, Maine
The Daley Family of Calais, Maine are enjoying Roque Bluff State Park in the town of Rogue Bluff about six miles off US Route 1, is a unique day use area. With its pebble beach on the ocean and freshwater pond, it provides both fresh and saltwater swimming. Dramatic cliffs along Maine's Bold Coast provide for spectacular views and for early-risers, dramatic sunrises.
It's a wonderful secluded park that lies between Great Cove and the Little Kennebec Bay in Maine. It is a seasonal park -- meaning that it is open during the summer months. Here you can enjoy both saltwater and freshwater swimming, take a leisurely stroll along the beach and discover the minute species of maritime life that cling to the rocks along the coast. You might come upon rounded gray rocks and/or water sculptured ocean glass. In addition, there are picnic areas with tables, grills, and a children's playground. Fishing is allowed and there is a boat launch.

We're in Maine, but it looks like Alaska!
We are driving our 4x4 expedition vehicle north through Maine and stopping at Jasper Beach. Much to our surprise it looks a lot like beaches in our home state of Alaska.

Maine's Mattawamkeag River
Deep in the woods of northern Maine lies one of the largest non-damed rivers in the country. The river was flooded, and had just receded, a little. The ice on the trees is high water mark. Part 2 is on it's way.

Jonesboro Maine Bicentennial Newscast
Tales Told: Storytelling for Lifelong Learners -
Just as a story gets better with repetition, so a GOOD story is one that can be told many ways -- as Tales Told did with the 7th and 8th grade students at Jonesboro Elementary School, who provided a modern take on the Battle of the Margaretta, first naval battle of American Revolution. These children of the digital age chose the format of the evening newscast to explore the events surrounding this battle in which many of their own ancestors participated. Along the way, they dug into primary research, wrote, directed, acted, and produced a finished product that made history their own.
You are screening an excerpt which opens with the newscasters' greeting and cuts to desperate American colonists demanding that British Captain Moor give them the food and supplies he has brought to trade. He refuses because the colonists, having just heard about the Battles of Lexington and Concord, are unwilling to give him their lumber, which they know will be used to build British barracks in Boston.
The newscasters then introduce patriot Jeremiah O'Brien, who reiterates the colonists defiance of the British.
Next we go to footage of the ensuing battle between the British and colonists.
The newscast wraps with a reporter who attempts to interview the doctor tending mortally-wounded Captain Moor.
