Palace On Wheels: Exploring Rajasthan In Royal Style Aboard India's Top Luxury Train
The Palace On Wheels, India's most luxurious train conjures up images of Maharajas, royalty, pomp and elegance. Inspired by the personal carriages used by the former Maharajas, Nizams and Viceroys, there cannot be a better way to explore one of India's most colourful and vibrant states Rajasthan. Once land of Rajputana princedoms Rajasthan is home to some of the most resplendent fortresses, spectacular palaces and havelis along with rich cultural heritage and diverse wildlife. With the aim of promoting tourism in the state, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation along with Indian Railway launched India's first Indian luxury train on 26th January' 1982. Originally the Palace on Wheels was created out of actual carriages and saloons that were used by former Maharajas, Nawabs and Viceroys. But since then, the train has been modernised but in keeping with the regal charm and elegance.

Royal Rajasthan Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Royal Rajasthan in India.
There are many ways by which one can travel across the state of Rajasthan in northern India but the train is probably the most fascinating. This journey explores the history of India’s former maharajahs and mughals and begins in Delhi, India’s great capital city. The streets of Delhi are full of life and even though there is much poverty the city is currently enjoying a degree of cultural and financial prosperity. Many historic landmarks such as the Lal Qila, the Red Fort, are a reminder of the city’s glorious past. Due to its numerous magnificent historic buildings, Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is one of the most beautiful and impressive cities in the region. The facade of the city’s most famous landmark, the Palace Of The Winds, is one of the most photographed sights in India. Around forty-two kilometres west of Jaisalmer the Desert National Park helps visitors to experience the natural beauty of the remote Thar Desert. At night the inhabitants of the desert, accompanied by traditional and exotic sounds, display the oriental side of their culture. Traditional music and dance are part of the nocturnal ambience of the desert and create an evocative scene straight out of the One Thousand And One Nights. With around seven hundred thousand inhabitants Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. The Meherangarh Museum contains an extensive collection of historic objects that once belonged to the rulers of Jodhpur. Agra is the most popular tourist destination in India. Between 1630 and 1653 Shah Jahan built a unique monument here that is one of the most famous buildings in the world, the Taj Mahal, a magnificent example of Mughal architecture that is synonymous with India itself. Historically, culturally and scenically the journey has provided many colourful impressions of Royal Rajasthan, the legendary kingdom of India’s Rajput and Mughal rulers.

Jaipur Tourism | The Pink city | Gopro | Rajasthan | India
Location :
Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building color. At the center of its stately street grid (notable in India) stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex. With gardens, courtyards and museums, part of it is still a royal residence.

The Amazing Amer Fort In Jaipur Rajasthan – India Golden Triangle Tour
The Amazing Amer Fort In Jaipur Rajasthan – India Golden Triangle Tour
Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer is a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi) located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Located high on a hill, it is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur. The town of Amer was originally built by Meenas, and later it was ruled by Raja Man Singh I. Amer Fort is known for its artistic style elements. With its large ramparts and series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake, which is the main source of water for the Amer Palace.
Mughal architecture greatly influenced the architectural style of several buildings of the fort. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or Hall of Public Audience, the Diwan-e-Khas, or Hall of Private Audience, the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace. The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort's Ganesh Gate, there is a temple dedicated to Shila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya cult, which was given to Raja Man Singh when he defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh). Raja Man Singh had 12 queens so he made 12 rooms, one for each Queen. Each room had a staircase connected to the King’s room but the Queens were not to go upstairs. Raja Jai Singh had only one queen so he built one room equal to three old queen’s rooms.
This palace, along with Jaigarh Fort, is located immediately above on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the same Aravalli range of hills. The palace and Jaigarh Fort are considered one complex, as the two are connected by a subterranean passage. This passage was meant as an escape route in times of war to enable the royal family members and others in the Amer Fort to shift to the more redoubtable Jaigarh Fort.
