Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei - Royal Regalia Museum HD (2015)
Brunei, officially the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace (Malay: Negara Brunei Darussalam, Jawi: نڬارا بروني دارالسلام), is a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. Apart from its coastline with the South China Sea, the country is completely surrounded by the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is separated into two parts by the Sarawak district of Limbang. Brunei is the only sovereign state completely on the island of Borneo; the remainder of the island's territory is divided between the nations of Malaysia and Indonesia. Brunei's population was 408,786 in July 2012.
At the peak of the Bruneian Empire, Sultan Bolkiah (reigned 1485–1528) is alleged to have had control over most regions of Borneo, including modern-day Sarawak and Sabah, as well as the Sulu archipelago off the northeast tip of Borneo, Seludong (modern-day Manila), and the islands off the northwest tip of Borneo. The maritime state was visited by Spain's Magellan Expedition in 1521 and fought against Spain in 1578's Castille War.
During the 19th century, the Bruneian Empire began to decline. The Sultanate ceded Sarawak (Kuching) to James Brooke and installed him as the White Rajah, and it ceded Sabah to the British North Borneo Chartered Company. In 1888, Brunei became a British protectorate and was assigned a British resident as colonial manager in 1906. After the Japanese occupation during World War II, in 1959 a new constitution was written. In 1962, a small armed rebellion against the monarchy was ended with the help of the British.
Brunei gained its independence from the United Kingdom on 1 January 1984. Economic growth during the 1990s and 2000s, with the GDP increasing 56% from 1999 to 2008, transformed Brunei into an industrialised country. It has developed wealth from extensive petroleum and natural gas fields. Brunei has the second-highest Human Development Index among the Southeast Asia nations, after Singapore, and is classified as a developed country. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Brunei is ranked fifth in the world by gross domestic product per capita at purchasing power parity. The IMF estimated, in 2011, that Brunei was one of two countries (the other being Libya) with a public debt at 0% of the national GDP. Forbes also ranks Brunei as the fifth-richest nation out of 182, based on its petroleum and natural gas fields.

Royal Regalia Museum previously known as the Royal Regalia Building. Now this is a royal museum located in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan, capital of Brunei. It mainly houses the regalia of the Sultan and the royalty, as well as exhibits related to the commemorations of the Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's rule of Brunei. It was officially opened on 30 September 1992 by the Sultan himself.
The building, was originally called Churchill's Memorial Building, which had been established by the Sultan Omar Ali Saiffudien., It was established to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty's coronation as Brunei's 29th king. A historical review of the present Sultan's life is narrated through family pictures with detailed narrative texts in which he is highlighted through many of his portraits and a hologram.
The museum building is a large gold-domed structure which is fitted with specially-designed mosaics. It has a semi-circular plan and is covered with plush carpets. Marble has been used extensively in its interior. The main display at the entrance hall is a huge chariot used for the parade carrying the Sultan through the streets of the city on the occasion of his 1992 silver jubilee celebration. A bevy of headless mannequins dressed in traditional attire are displayed in front of the chariot. There is also a second chariot which was used during the 1968 coronation and also during the 1972 Queen's visit to Brunei.

The Royal Regalia Museum Building is a large gold-domed structure located in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan, the state capital of Brunei. Established in 1992, the building has a profusion of exhibits related to the 25th commemoration of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s rule in the country. It was officially opened in September 30, 1992 by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Originally, the father of the Sultan of Brunei called it as “Churchill’s Museum”, named after Winston Churchill. In 1992, it was changed to Royal Regalia Exhibition Hall to celebrate the 1992 Silver Jubilee of the Sultan’s coronation as King of Brunei.
A huge royal chariot is the main display at the entrance hall. It is a “gold-leafed winged chariot” used in the parade carrying the Sultan through the streets of the city in 1968 on the occasion of his silver jubilee celebration of coronation in 1992. The building also exhibits artifacts used for royal ceremonies in Brunei, such as gold and silver ceremonial weaponry, crowns embedded with jewels, ceremonial costumes, and the like.

Royal Regal Ria Museum. The royal family made a museum in commemoration of the coronation of King County. When the King's coronation carriage rode golden! It was realized on the country's golden heard louder than words. Flashes and all is not gold. The British proverb that I heard this idea in Brunei exception. Created to celebrate the King's 60th birthday is a golden cannon. Other nwatda to different ornaments and souvenirs of the royal family on display. And that all things are expensive as priceless. Is it so, palace look like? Is it to much to expect? The palace did not seem to think seemingly more glamorous. The Royal Regalia Museum (Malay: Muzium Alat Kebesaran Diraja), previously known as the Royal Regalia Building (Malay: Bangunan Alat Kebesaran Diraja), is a museum located in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. It mainly houses the regalia of the Sultan and the royalty, as well as exhibits related to the commemorations of the Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's rule of Brunei. The Royal Regalia Museum Brunei - Well Worth a Visit
Visiting Brunei on the return leg from Brisbane to London, on the Brunei national carrier for a friends wedding, I booked three nights in the city center Bandar Seri Begawan.
The Royal Regalia Museum is very close to the main palace Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and visiting both is recommended.
Adorned within the museum are narrated pictures of the current Sultan including the Sultans Regalia.
That is the museum features exhibits from current Sultans silver and golden jubilees.
Opened late 1992 after initially being used as Churchill’s Memorial Building.
Its stunningly designed plush carpets and lovely marble stand out along with its large gold dome on top.
Main museum points of interest include the chariot, crown jewels and ceremonial artifacts of all the Sultan and his silver and golden jubilees.
Muzium Alat Kebesaran Diraja (Royal Regalia Museum), Brunei
