Mugini Jacob, VoicesofAfrica mobile reporter in the Mara region, Tanzania (18 June 2010) Bicycle transport has become a significant relief for banana farmers in the interior remote villages of Mara Region in the Northern Tanzania. Banana growers say they travel about 30 kilometers every morning by bicycles when taking their bananas to for sell at Tarime town market.
One of the farmers identified as Moka Mang'enyi says the bicycle has been enabling him to feed a family of six children since 1992.
'This bicycle had helped me a lot and if you grab me this bicycle it is like grabbing my wife', says Mang'enyi.
Presently Mang'enyi says he has over 270 banana pants at Kenyamanyori village.
Another farmer identified as Wambura Wang'enyi says they can not survive without bananas and bicycles.
'Bicycles a more than any thing for us as banana farmers', remarks Wang'enyi
On his side Jackson Mwikwabe describes part of the rural roads thank link them with the main tarmac road as poor ,asking the government of Tanzanian to improve rural road net work if it is determined to implement the slogan of better live for every Tanzania but actions.
Better live for every Tanzanian is a slogan used by President Jakaya Kikwete when he was seeking election for the Presidency on the ruling CCM ticket in 2005.

East Africa community limps as Rwanda runs
Tanzania- playing watch and see game. Uganda- Not sure where it belongs.
Kenya- The master of deceit fooling all. Burundi- to be seriously watched.
Rwanda- getting all the policies right.
The region deserves a vibrant prioritization of its needs. There needs to emerge a culture of transparency and complementarity. I wish Burundi got this signal right and streamlined micro finance entities and cooperate governance

In-depth look into state of Tanganyika - Zanzibar union, ahead of 2015 election
On April 26th this year, the United Republic of Tanzania celebrated the 51st anniversary of the union between the mainland Tanganyika and the islands, Zanzibar. Although the unification was a milestone in the post-colonial history of the African continent and beneficial to the region's peace, both Tanganyika and Zanzibar have had grievances about the union for decades. This has led to numerous debates that have even questioned the union's legitimacy and relevance. KTN's political editor Ben Kitilli takes an in-depth look into the union, which has been a major issue in the 2015 election campaigns..

Namanga troubles; Tanzanian govt. directive splitting families at border
The Tanzanian government's directive to evict persons who do not have relevant paperwork is splitting families. Despite the street volatility at the Kenya-Tanzania border of Namanga having cooled off, concerns are still alight over the future of these families, and their livelihoods, as well as the growing distrust between the two sides of the border. Nonetheless, there was movement across the border today.

Verbatim.
Good morning guys, today, I want us to dissect the reasons or the strategies which i think William Ruto is using to manage or to contain Uhuru Kenyatta but before I proceed, kindly remember to subscribe. Ok. Alot of things have been going on within the political circles in regards to 2022 politics and you know William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta had a pact which was supposed to take them upto 2022. The pact was Uhuru will rule for 10 years, then leaves or handover to Ruto for the next 10 years. You know in this country, that's how they agreed, so basically, the country they assumed is theirs, so agreed like that, William Ruto 10 years, Uhuru Kenyatta 10 years but the recent political activities in the country is actually very different from that and the signals are that Uhuru might change his mind or the people around him might change his mind and as a shrewd politician, William Ruto has also employed new strategies to manage such kind of a fallout.
Now, I have identified five strategies which I think William Ruto is using in case Uhuru will not support him and these strategies are as follows.
Number one, the first strategy which William Ruto is using is what I call loyalty. You know, William Ruto is a very good student of Raila Odinga. William Ruto learnt alot during the grand coalition government. It is said, that during that time, many people expected Mwai Kibaki to rule for one term based on a pact which they had and hand over power to the rest and the next person who was supposed to be the beneficiary was Raila Odinga based on the role he played during that time. Infact, Raila Odinga basically gave Mwai Kibaki the presidency while Kibaki was on a wheelchair, so many expected Raila to be the beneficiary but the people around Kibaki were very wise. They were very strategic. The first thing they did was to make sure that there was a bad blood between Kibaki and Raila and what a better way of doing it. They simply made sure Raila Odinga as frustrated and out of frustrations, Raila Odinga decided to leave the government and that now gave Mwai Kibaki the chance to re-organise again and basically, what William Ruto learnt then is that loyalty is key.So, William Ruto despite all things which are going on in this government has ensured that his loyalty to Uhuru Kenyatta is not questioned.
The other thing William Ruto has learnt is the power of direct engagement. You know, William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta were in separate parties previously. Ruto was in URP and Uhuru was in jubilee but for the purposes of this election, they merged these parties and now they have one party called jubilee and because of the signals which is being sent to William Ruto, he has decided to go directly or work directly with the local leaders. For example, if William Ruto want to go to Kisii, he has his contacts there, people like Osoro and if he wants to go to coast for example, he has his people there, people like Aisha Jumwa. He is nolonger using that jubilee structure, that jubilee structure if he relies on it, then at the end of the day, he will be a very disappointed man, so William Ruto has now employed the strategy of engaging local leaders directly. Infact, he is creating his own network which in my view I think is a very good strategy.
The other strategy William Ruto is using is what I call covert warr and pressure. In this strategy, William Ruto is not fighting Uhuru Kenyatta. He is not questioning what Uhuru Kenyatta is doing but he has employed specific people to do this for him and one of the people he is using is Aisha Jumwa. You know, recently, Aisha Jumwa questioned the role of Raila Odinga in government and the other person he is using is that man from Kiiminini DIdmas Barasa. Didmas Barasa has also questioned the role of Raila Odinga in this government. So, basically, what's happening is that William Ruto is questioning this people, but he is not doing that by himself and he cant use the rift valley MPs to do this. He is using his foot soldiers.
