This travel center is in what seems like the middle of nowhere but it is certainly worth a stop. The museum is free and there is a bunch of items to look at.

Welcome To Russel's Truck And Travel Center
We stop at this rest stop and had no idea what was waiting for us inside. Welcome to Russell's truck stop. Have you ever seen the such?
Russell Travel Center
The Russell Travel Center is located at mile marker 369 on the I-40 in eastern New Mexico. Not only was the food great at the diner, but they have a magnificent car museum which features over a dozen fully restored classic cars from the 1950's. Also the museum features thousands of items from the 1950's & 60's. Strolling thru here is truly like going back in time. Completely enjoyable and worth the stop.

8-18-2009 Glenrio Almost Tornado
A great summer surprise. Just N of Glenrio on the TX/NM border just N of I-40. There were 3 funnel cloud iterations with this one being the last and best one. The rain from a storm just S of us ruined the inflow on our storm. In any case an August treat for the TX Panhandle. The rain curtains were rotating on the ground and if this had been over a dry field we would have had a large debris cloud.

RV Nomad Life | Boondocking in Glenrio, Texas, an Abandoned Ghost Town
Glenrio, Texas had a population of up to 30 people before the town became abandoned. From what we could find of the history of this town, it was involved in tax wars, gas wars (between New Mexico and Texas), occupied by farmers, and at one point was doing very well with the railway system nearby. The homes were made of traditional Adobe materials and today they are stripped by the wind and damaged by mischevious travelers.

Cuervo Cut Off Route 66
Cuervo Cutoff / Route 66 through New Mexico. Believe it or not, but this is one of the newer alignments of Route 66 through New Mexico. The oldest path in these parts is now the preferred route, and is maintained by the state. This path was abandoned when the interestate bypassed route 66.
