Russia Travel Saint Petersburg
Thank you for watching my video on Saint petersburg Russia! This was my first time to Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg and Russia were never on my bucket list of countries to visit, but I am so glad I did travel there. Saint Petersburg Russia was very interesting and so beautiful! It has become my favorite city in Russia. I Hope everyone can keep an open mind when watching this video and the rest of my Russian series. Russia really surprised me!
Welcome to my channel! I'm Patrick and this is Patmax Adventures! I'm originally from California and have been living abroad for the past four years. My focus will always be on the culture, food and of course the local people of everywhere I travel to! I'm an optimist and always try to highlight the positives of a place rather than just the negatives.Though I will also be bluntly honest at times too! If you love travel and exploring far away places, then you found the right place!

The Russian museum has a number of Ivan Aivazovsky paintings as well as other famous Russian artists. If you are looking for Russian art, you will not find very much of it in the Hermitage Museum. The Hermitage Museum is mostly art from other countries so if you are in St. Petersburg Russia, you must visit the Russian Museum to get experience what Russian art is really like. With a visit to the Russian Museum you also get the added benefit of seeing the Mikhailovsky Palace which houses the Russian Museum.
Russia River Cruising with Scenic | Exploring St Petersburg

Read below for full transcript:
Our last stop on our Scenic Tours Russian adventure is here in St. Petersburg and what a city to wrap things up.
There's one man who you are going to fall in love with when you come here and that is Peter the Great.
No it's not because of his incredible architecture or phenomenal monuments, it's because of the vision he had for St. Petersburg
Peter the Great wanted this city to shine like no other and with a soft spot for the European lifestyle he brought elegance to Russia, the canals and grand palaces play a starring role in this masterpiece.
Peter did have a good sense of humor though, he would sit his guests down and unbeknownst to them the fountain would go off.
One of Peter’s finest moments was Peterhof Palace, it's 1,000 hectares of fountains and gardens have been used throughout the ages to impress not only royalty but also Scenic guests.
Imagine having this as your backyard.
Catherine the great as her name suggests was also a mover and shaker in the city's history and enjoyed the finer things.
I think you're gonna be waiting a little while for Catherine's palace to come on the market but to give you an idea of value in here there are pieces of amber that are as rare as most unique diamonds on earth so this room alone is priceless.
Once stolen by the Nazis the famous amber room and the Grand Hall of this residence are just some of your Scenic
highlights here in St. Petersburg.
The exquisite beauty and class of Catherine's Palace can only stretch so far as you could imagine with all the royalty and riches of the 18th century artwork was a highly sought-after possession.
I'm pretty confident saying that the Hermitage is one of the very best museums that you will ever see in your life but if you think there's any chance that you're going to see all 3 million exhibits think again it would take you close to 11 years.
The Hermitage is one of the most prestigious museums in the world you'll be happy to know that they're expanding because the current 10 buildings can’t hold all the incredible works.
St. Petersburg is rich in culture and its European lifestyle but it also knows how to party.
Well this morning when I woke up I didn't think I'd be sitting at one of president Putin's favourite restaurants but hey, its Scenic Tours. Cheers!
That water is very strong.
With a mix of tradition, entertainment and special performances setup exclusively for us, I think even Peter the great would be a very happy man.
This trip has really changed my perspective on this country, I was expecting a highly strung more repressive kind of place but it is simply been the total opposite.
The people are very warm and welcoming and there is so much that you need to checkout so from Russia, Privet.
Livin' Like a Tsar | Solo Travel to St. Petersburg, Russia
Second half of my stay in St. Petersburg revolved mostly around my splurge stay in a beautiful boutique hotel near Nevsky Prospekt. It was truly money well spent as the stay made me very happy. Treat yo self, guys!
Visited Peterhof, Peter the Great's summer palace and was stunned by the beauty of the Grand Cascade. Also squeezed in a visit to Winter Palace to view the collection of art.

Udelnaya FLEA MARKET - Biggest ANTIQUES Market (Budget Travel Russia) {St. Petersburg, RUSSIA}
Budget Travel Russia #12
Udelnaya Flea Market certainly epitomizes that quotation about another man's treasure is another man's junk.
In the St. Petersburg suburb of Udelnaya, the biggest antiques market in Russia is on display during weekends. The usual collection of antiques, housewares and knick-knacks satisfies serious buyers and curious onlookers to pay a visit to these outdoor stalls and ground-floor markets.
One of the more colorful tables contains a serious USSR pin collection and Matt cheerfully leafs through album upon album of thousands of pins.

First Thoughts on Russia | We Spent 48 Hours in St Petersburg, Russia
After our insane Russian visa nightmare we are so glad to arrive here in St Petersburg...these are our first thoughts on the country.
Tour we are on in Russia with On the Go Tours:
We have 48 hours in St Petersburg so we are going to show you as much as possible to do in this incredible city which started off by working out the Metro systems...going to the deepest one in Russia - Admiralteyskaya station. It's so cost effective to use the Metro system, less than a $1 and there's no zones - jump on and just jump off when you are done.
Our first stop was obviously coffee, so we went to Pyshechnaya which is a cafe set up like an old soviet style restaurant where all they sell is cheap coffee and one style of donut.
Next up we headed to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood which is a breathtaking church best described as a gingerbread house - and if you think outside looks stunning - wait till you go inside and see the 1000's of mosaics lining the walls.
To find the best views in St Petersburg we recommend you head to St Isaac's Cathedral.
If you are looking for some of the best museums in the world - head to the Hermitage Museum (the Winter Palace) and also head to Catherines Summer Palace - both very grand and opulent.
If you want to try some Russian food - we recommend Советское кафе Квартирка - which is an old soviet style restaurant set up like an old soviet home. Amazing food - we recommend you try
We Tried Russian Food in St Petersburg
- Vareniki (Potatoes & Mushroom dumpling)
- Cherry Vareniki
- Pirzhok Pie (cabbage and egg)
- Rasstegai Pie (fish)
- Napoleon Cake with Custard
- Ukrainian Cottage Cheese Pancake
and finally 2 end your 2 days in St Pettersburg - head on a river boat to see the best views around the city :)

CATHERINE PALACE | BEST Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia
Today, Katie and I visited Catherine Palace just outside of St. Petersburg, Russia. It was an incredible day and one of the better palaces we've visited around the world. Extremely beautiful and opulent!
This palace was owned by Peter the Great, then Elizabeth the I, and then Catherine the Great!
The Amber Room was a highlight and very interesting to see. It has great significance in the history and the original room was stolen and never recovered.
We enjoyed touring the beautiful gold rooms and palace grounds today. Peterhof may have incredible fountains, but by comparison the palace itself at Catherine Palace is much more impressive!!
Make sure you buy your tickets in advance and likely join a group tour to keep things easy as this palace lines up for HOURS out front. It's not worth the wait if you can just walk in with a tour guide.
Stay tuned - tomorrow we head to Peterhof to compare the two palaces and grounds.
