Rare Drive In Theater Closes for Good! Hi-Way Drive In US 30 Lincoln Highway Latrobe PA
Another drive in theatre bites the dust, victim of big box development and new home expansion. The Hi-Way drive in was a fixture on US 30 dating back to the early 50's when it was only a two lane road, and had opened around 1954. At one time as many as 600 cars would crowd into the theatre for family entertainment. They had the best Sunday flea markets as well. Took my kids to several movies here over the years.. This was originally part of the Manos Theatre family and recently was owned by a local family. They have since restored another drive in in Robinson Twp called the Twin Hiway, also on Old US30-US22. Midway Drive In Theater Demolition
Taken in October of 2005. This was taken just moments before the big screen came down. The Midway Drive In was on Pacific Highway South in Kent Washington. The original drive in was built in 1940 (it was the first in the northwestern portion of the United States) as the Northwest Motor-In but was demolished in the late 1960s to add a widescreen as well as a new snack bar. The theater played movies until 1990. It was also used as a Swap Meet for over 30 years as well until it was demolished.
A Lowes hardware store was built on the site.

This year, St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Augusta, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Hallowell, and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Augusta all joined under Prince of Peace's roof at 209 Eastern Ave. in Augusta to worship, given their diminishing numbers. This is their first Christmas together, and they are all represented in the choir, singing Oh, Holy Night.
Returning To Camp Ellis Beach - Saco, ME
This last Maine vacation video was filmed on July 17 in which I had some free time on my hands for that evening (As my parents would be going out to dinner over at the Run of the Mill Brewpub in Saco). Therefore, I decided to use some of my free time to walk back down to Camp Ellis again. Only this time, the weather was much more nicer (Although there would be an extremely severe thunderstorm that would hit part of Southern Maine later that night) and I got a much better view when I walked onto the jetty again (I did also go past both Huot's and Wormwoods again too as I do hope to visit one of the 2 seafood restaurants again whenever I go back to Maine in the future). With that great view, I could even all the boats near the end of the Saco River (As that river does go all the way up to Northern New Hampshire by the way) and Biddeford Pool to the south as well as Ferry Beach, Bay View, Kinney Shores, Ocean Park, and Old Orchard Beach to the north. But anyways, it was a great vacation indeed!
