Dhaka Sadarghat, also called Sadarghat Port, the Dhaka City River Front, located in the southern part of Dhaka, on the river Buriganga,[1] is one of the most dynamic places in Dhaka. Here, the Sadarghat River Boat Terminal is one of the largest river ports in the world. About 300 large and small passenger river boats (motorized) depart and arrive with an average of 500 passengers every hour at the terminal every day. According to the officials at the terminal, 1,50,000 people, in average, use the terminal for departure and arrival every day. At this place hundreds of country boats laden with passengers and merchandise cross the river.

সদরঘাট বাংলাদেশ-এর আদি ঢাকা শহরের একটি নদীবন্দর যাকে ঘিরে উনিশ শতকে একটি ব্যবসায়িক জনপদ গড়ে ওঠে। এই নদীবন্দরটি বুড়িগঙ্গা নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত। একবিংশ শতকের শুরুতেও এটির গুরুত্ব অক্ষূণ্ন রয়েছে। এর সন্নিহিত এলাকা পুরনো ঢাকা নামে প্রসিদ্ধ। এর অতি নিকটে রয়েছে পুস্তক প্রকাশনার ঘাঁটি বাংলাবাজার, জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, বলধা গার্ডেন এবং আহসান মঞ্জিল এবং, সর্বোপরি, বিভিন্ন নদী পরিবাহিত পণ্য, বিশেষ করে মাছ ও ফলের সুবিশাল সব আড়ত। সারাদেশ, বিশেষ করে, দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের সঙ্গে ঢাকা শহরের নদীকেন্দ্রিক যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার পরিকেন্দ্র এই সদরঘাট। অসংখ্যা লঞ্চ ঞাটে ভীড় করে আছে। ডিঙ্গি নৌকাগুলো যাত্রী নিয়ে এপার-ওপার করছে, কুলিদের শোরগোল—সব কিছু মিলে সদরঘাট এমন একটি জায়গা যা কখনো নীরব থাকে না।
ঢাকার সদরঘাট লঞ্চ টার্মিনাল থেকে সর্বমোট ৪৫ টি রুটে নৌযান চলাচল করে। এই নদীবন্দর থেকে বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিণ অঞ্চলের এলাকাগুলো যেমন, পটুয়াখালী, বরগুনা, ভোলা, ঝালকাঠী, মাদারীপুর, চাঁদপুর, খুলনা, হাতিয়া, বাগেরহাট প্রভৃতি গন্তব্যে লঞ্চ ও স্টিমার ছেড়ে যায়।

Usually Thursday and Friday people depart Dhaka city because Friday and Saturday are the government holiday in Bangladesh. Today was Sunday, and it was little late from the busiest hour of Sadarghat.
Except the regular time, in the time of Eid-Ul-Ftar and Eid-Ul-Azha the launch terminal of Sadarghat get a tremendously chaotic place and order becomes mauled usually. Every passenger ship get overcrowed then and it is a must scene in Bangladesh, surprisingly people sometimes enjoy the journey.

1.Gulistan is a very busy street of Dhaka city in Bangladesh.
Several important streets are connected to Gulistan which makes it busy and crowded.One of the oldest transports of Dhaka City ‘Tom-Tom’ can be seen in this street. There is a shrine right at the middle of the road. It is called “Golap Shah’s Shrine”. Thousands of people show their devotion to this shrine everyday and make donations so that their desire can be fulfilled.
2.Sadarghat is a great riverside place in Dhaka City.
The Sadarghat means City Wharf. It stands a little left in front of the Ahsan Manzil. Sadarghat is also the central point of the Buckland Bund. Originally, it was built as a place for landing of boats, launches and even ships coming to Dhaka from other places. Large vessels can no longer use it because of shoaling up of the river bed entry and an overall downsizing of the capacity of the inland waterways.

Ahasan manzil - Its a historical place of Bangladesh.its open for all ,there is a museum into the Palace for visitor.Its has a beautiful natural view ,you can vist there.

The Massive Ferry Launches of Sadarghat, Dhaka
Bangladesh has a lot of rivers - over 700 of them, in fact - and lots and lots of boats, big and small. Towering over them all are the massive river launches at Sadarghat.
Rising four stories above the water, these huge ships bustle about with the same casual air as the tiny river taxis, or nouka.
In this video, I explore the Sadarghat terminal and take a look at these behemoths in action. At the dock, I got the chance to go on board several of these boats and take a close look.
I didn't go anywhere on the launches this time. This was an exploration and reconnaissance mission. Hopefully, in the days to come, I will take advantage of everything I learned and go for a ride down the Buriganga on my own launch adventure.
