RCSD School Day Soccer Game at Sahlen's Stadium (F) - Rochester City School District
Produced and edited by Christian Ramirez
The Rochester Rhinos and Rochester City School District are proud to announce the return of the “RCSD School Day Soccer Game” at Sahlen's Stadium on Thursday, June 11th at 10:00am.
The Rhinos will played FC Buffalo (NPSL) in a Friendly soccer match in front of 5,000+ students and teachers from the Extended Day Learning program of the Rochester City School District.
This free event was created to give RCSD students the opportunity to experience a professional soccer game at Sahlen’s Stadium. The field trip included a boxed lunch and a complimentary book provided by RocRead. Community partners at the stadium interacted with the students to discuss staying safe as the school year comes to a close and summer vacation begins.
“Rochester has so much to offer to its youth, parents, and community and as a District, it is our responsibility to expose our families to all that Rochester has to offer. The Rhinos event is one of many partnerships/collaborations that we have established in the community to provide an overall awareness of the resources in Rochester along with emphasizing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle,” said Carlos M. Cotto Jr., Rochester City School District Executive Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics.
The winner of the match received the inaugural “DeRosa Cup” named after Sal DeRosa, the former head coach of the Syracuse Scorpians (NASL), Rochester Lancers (NASL), Buffalo Stallions (MISL), Buffalo Blizzard (NPSL) and 2015 Rochester Soccer Hall of Fame inductee. George DeRosa, son of the late Sal DeRosa, was at the game to represent the family. Mr. DeRosa was instrumental in bringing the school day to Sahlen’s Stadium after achieving tremendous success with the Buffalo Blizzard. His determination and desire led to the first “RCSD School Day Soccer Game” at Sahlen’s Stadium in 2012.
“The return of the RCSD School Day Soccer Game to Sahlen’s Stadium continues to strengthen the Rhinos commitment to the City of Rochester and its residents. The Rhinos are celebrating their 20th season in 2015 and are happy to see the RCSD be a part of the celebration,” said Pat Ercoli, Rochester Rhinos President & COO.
The Rochester Rhinos and Rochester City School District would like to thank the following partners for helping to make this event happen: RCSD Administration, Monroe Ambulance, RocRead, Sahlen’s Quality Meat Products and Wegmans.
Rochester Rhinos season tickets, flex packages, and group sales tickets are also currently on sale and can be purchased by calling (585)454-KICK (5425), online via Ticketmaster, by visiting the MVP Health Care Box Office at Sahlen's Stadium during business hours or by visiting rhinossoccer.com.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
