23 Things To Do In Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam
►Read 23 Things to do in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam:
►FREE eBook:
When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city.
1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple.
3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam.
4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city.
5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit.
7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building.
8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war.
9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available.
10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon.
11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city.
12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational.
13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon.
14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks.
15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city.
16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around.
17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater.
18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective.
20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market.
21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit.
22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets.
23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample.
Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit.

South East Asia Tour - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
We spent three nights in Ho Chi Minh in District 1, in the Little Tokyo area. There were a lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, we had some pretty good meals. I was in search of the best Pho in Vietnam, I didn't find it here though.
Pho 79 in Garden Grove, California, is the best pho I've had, and I've had a lot of Pho, all over the US and now in Vietnam. After reading reviews and watching YouTube, I decided to try Pho 24 as our first meal, it was so disappointing, not good at all. We then tried Pho 2000 a couple hours later, this was better, but still not that good. My search wasn't going well, so the next day we went to the Lunch Lady who was made famous by Anthony Bourdain. It was good, but we got the tourist prices, about double what I calculated it should be. But she's a nice lady, Chris bought her cookbook for $3 USD, so we figured we'll help support her family and not argue.
We then went to a coffee shop around the corner so I could work up an appetite to try Pho Phuong which was better than the previous day, but still not close to Pho 79.
We splurged on a really nice dinner at Xu Restaurant, it got very good Trip Advisor reviews but ended up costing about $250 USD for 4 of us. It was a great meal, small bites though but filling enough.
We took a tour from Saigon Free Walking Tours, it was nice to have the two students show us around the city and not feel totally lost for once. They took us to the Cong Caphe where Chris had his favorite coffee drink, then the War Remnants Museum which was interesting.
We had another good dinner at Chi Hoa which was a block from our hotel. I was about to give up on my Pho search but decided to try Pho Le which was recommended by Kyle Le. This was our best Pho so far, very good, but still not the best I've had.
The next morning we left for Hanoi, I think we spent just the right amount of time in Ho Chi Minh.

City Description:
Ho Chi Minh City (commonly known as Saigon) is a city in southern Vietnam famous for the pivotal role it played in the Vietnam War. It's also known for its French colonial landmarks, including Notre-Dame Cathedral, made entirely of materials imported from France, and the 19th-century Central Post Office. Food stalls line the city’s streets, especially around bustling Bến Thành Market. The story of wartime Saigon is told at the War Remnants Museum, the tunnel network at Củ Chi and Independence Palace, where North Vietnamese tanks famously breached the gates in April 1975. The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens are home to elephants, tigers and rare orchids. Native plants and animals may also be seen at the Cần Giờ Biosphere Reserve, a mangrove forest at the mouth of the Saigon River. The Jade Emperor Pagoda is filled with incense and carved figurines, and features elaborate statuary and a turtle pond.
Weather and Events:
Most visitors come Dec–Apr, when the tropical weather is warm and dry. The rainy season is May–Nov. Key events and holidays include Tết, or Vietnamese New Year (Jan/Feb, dates vary), for which many businesses close, and the Mid-Autumn/Full Moon Festival (Sep/Oct, dates vary), celebrated with mooncakes and lanterns.

Vietnam - Saigon - A walking tour through the Colonial Quarter
Vietnam is one of Asia’s most fascinating destinations. Its capital is Hanoi but its biggest city is Ho Chi Minh – otherwise known as Saigon. This sprawling metropolis is a fascinating mix of old and new.
We had ventured to Saigon with Thailand’s premium low cost carrier, Nok Airlines, to commemorate their first flight to Vietnam. On our Boeing 737 800 we were joined by other media and the Nok Airlines team for a discover tour of their newest destination.

HO CHI MINH CITY TOUR | ONE TRIP TOUR | VIETNAM VLOG #017
Ho Chi Minh City tour, Vietnam Vlog #17
We recently spent the day touring around Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and thoroughly enjoyed our time. This vlog covers everything that we saw and did during our day spent exploring Saigon!
To start off with, we visited an old quarter in District 3 that was previously a slum and was repeatedly bombed during the war. It has since recovered and is now a thriving neighbourhood. Some of the houses in this area sell for up to $100 000!
Next stop was Cheo Leo Cafe, which is considered to be one of the most popular local coffee shops in Saigon. Instead of using coffee filters, this coffee shop still makes use of an old clay pot and basket to make coffee. We highly recommend this place - The address is: 103/36 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street, Ward 2,District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Next we headed to the shrine established to commemorate the monk who burned himself alive to fight for his religion, to learn about the unique history behind this event was mindblowing!
After that we caught a taxi to one of the most famous hidden weapons cache's that was used in the war. Again, it was incredible to learn about some of the underground tactics used in the war.
Overall, it was an extremely enlightening day and we would thoroughly recommend such a tour, especially if you are into your history! Check out the OneTrip YouTube Channel:

Although this is my 7th visit to Vietnam, I still feel that there are many first impressions of Ho Chi Minh City that are still fascinating to me. I first started the day by eating Bun Bo Hue and continued walking to the Saigon train station. I tried buying Vietnam train tickets while also explaining the importance of the Reunification Express during the Vietnam War. I managed to also pass by the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon while walking to the Saigon Central Post Office.
This bustling city is exciting yet overwhelming at the same time. I hope you enjoy watching while exploring this city with me :)

Pham Ngu Lao nightlife is also one of Ho Chi Minh’s finest, with throngs of street vendors, bia hoi stalls, lively bars, and downtown clubs filling up the lively scene. Interesting nightlife entertainment spots include The View Rooftop Bar, Seventeen Saloon, Go 2 and Crazy Buffalo Nightclub as well as many smaller pubs that are known for their cheap drinks and happy hour promos. It’s also common around here to meet friendly expats who are more than happy to share a few tips about travelling in and beyond Vietnam. If you want to immerse yourself in the local culture, we highly suggest getting up early and visit the parks within the area. It is interesting to see (and even to join in on) the elders participating in Tai Chi-like exercise sessions. Another must-do is heading to the morning markets such as Ben Tanh Market, where local vendors sell a wide array of fresh produce, household supplies, and Vietnamese street food at attractive prices. As Pham Ngu Lao is not such a large area, it’s the perfect place to explore on foot - the best time to do this is in the morning and late afternoon as the weather can be rather scorching at the height of the day. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are also travel agencies that can help arrange for day trips within the city centre and beyond.

Hello, I'm Suresh IDEA .

I make videos in Hindi to make aware people in India and South-Asia that travelling is not a costly affair. I wish everyone explore this beautiful world and learn the best things to make our world a better place to live.
Thank You
Walking around Saigon,Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is a wonderful city to walkabout and discover all its hidden gems.In this 'raw' video - no talking or music! - I'll take you on a memorable walking journey through many famous landmarks. This will give you an excellent introduction to the city’s history and provide you with plenty of opportunities to soak up the unique mix of chaos and tranquility that is modern-day Ho Chi Minh City.
Starting from Le Loi Street, we will make our way to Ben Thanh Market. Here you'll be able to see why this market is a sensation with many shoppers. I've made a video of what products are available to buy.Make sure you bargain hard! The video link is at the bottom of this page.
From Ben Thanh Market, we head towards Dong Khoi Street. This is the heart of the city’s commercial life. It is still the best place to admire the grand old colonial buildings although they too are being overshadowed by the nearby high-rise office towers. International brands, boutiques, stylish cafes and high-end restaurants now line this bustling street. The Opera House, a magnificent building built in 1897, is situated on this busy street.
The Central Post Office is a glorious example of French colonial architecture, perfectly preserved with as much style as when it first opened in 1891.This building was designed by Gustave Eiffel, who also designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Make sure you send a postcard home! As you leave the building, across the street you'll see Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica.
We pass the iconic Reunification Palace. The palace is like a time capsule frozen in 1975 with two of the original tanks used in the capture of the palace parked in the grounds. Lastly, we end the tour at The War Remnants Museum once known as the ‘Museum of American War Crimes.' It’s a horrible reminder of the long and brutal Vietnam War with many graphic photographs and American military equipment on display.
Hope you enjoyed this short tour. Please give a ''thumbs up'' if you have a moment to spare. There are plenty more videos of Vietnam at Travel Phnom Penh Cambodia:
ARE YOU FLYING TO PHNOM PENH? UPDATE NOVEMBER 2018: Phnom Penh Airport to Central Train Station by a NEW TRAIN SERVICE.
Did you know that there is a TRAIN SERVICE from Phnom Penh International Airport to Central Train Station by train? The price of a one-way ticket is $2.50 and worth it. The service starts at 05.30 from Phnom Penh, and takes around 30 minutes or so. There is only one train and one track! The 30 minute journey, which depends on traffic, cars, and people on the tracks - and the amount of near misses -will slowly make its way though some cool scenery, including villages and plenty of local people. The train station is located in the airport.

8 THINGS TO DO IN SAIGON (Ho Chi Minh City) | VIETNAM VLOG #016
8 things to do in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Vietnam Vlog #16
We recently spent the day exploring some of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and thoroughly enjoyed our time. This vlog covers everything that we saw, ate and did during our day spent exploring this mega city!
To start off with, we visited the iconic war remnants museum. It was a very interesting, must see attraction, but bear in mind, it is not for the feint-hearted!
Next we headed to the famous Ben Thanh Market for some shopping, its a great place to pick up that Vietnamese souvenir you've been after! After that we had a short walk up to the Ben Thanh Street food market. This is a great place to pick up all sorts of different foods! It is one of the top tourist attractions, so be ready to pay slightly more for food here!
After that we caught a quick Grab ride over to the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral, also a very worthwhile visit when coming to Saigon. The cathedral is currently under construction but it is still a great sight. The post office is grand and still in operation, so we recommend buying some letters at the market and posting them back home to family from here!
After that we popped in at the famous book street, this is a very trendy area and has coffee shops for you to rest your legs.
We then headed a few blocks down to the incredible city hall. this building is iconic and a must-see when in Saigon! In absolutely beautiful! Once you're done you can head down the walking street and go for dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area.
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to leave them in the comments below and we'll get back to you. If you have no questions, still leave a comment just to say hello:)

First Time in VIETNAM - Exploring Ho Chi Minh City
We landed in bustling Ho Chi Minh City for our first time in Vietnam! We had a great time exploring Ho Chi Minh City and will be traveling Vietnam for the next 28 days. Without a real plan, we visited Ho Chi Minh Square to learn some history of Ho Chi Minh City. We also played frogger with the thousands of motorbikes trying to cross the streets, haha.
Our first stop after the 2 hour travel to Vietnam from Malaysia was Ho Chi Minh Square. We got stopped by some local Vietnamese scouts who tried to help teach us a Vietnamese language phrase. We sucked really badly but they were nice and persistent. Finally, Ryan spoke Vietnamese! Ho Chi Minh Square is located in District 1 Saigon which is right in the middle of the city. District 1 Ho Chi Minh City is also the main tourist hub in HCM, Vietnam.
We aren’t sure if it’s better to call the city Saigon Vietnam or Ho Chi Minh Vietnam, so please leave us a comment down below and let us know which one is correct! While walking the streets and exploring Ho Chi Minh City, we got thirsty and decided to try Vietnamese coffee for the first time. Stacia loved the Vietnamese coffee but since it’s 2x stronger than regular coffee she couldn’t finish the whole thing.
Before finding the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh, we decided we wanted to get a feel for local life in Saigon. We quickly saw that the traffic in Ho Chi Minh City is a BIG part of daily life so we decided to test our luck crossing the busy streets. I can’t put into words how busy the streets of Saigon are, so you’ll just have to watch the video to see for yourself. It was a true frogger moment!
Being Americans in Vietnam, we are very interested in the war history of the Vietnam War. We were told there is an American War museum we need to check out which we will do off camera to spare sharing some deep emotional stuff with you guys. There are so many things to do in Saigon we can’t wait to explore the city for the month! If you have any suggestions for things to do in Vietnam, please leave a comment down below.
We have uploaded Vietnamese subtitles for any of you who would like to read in Vietnamese. We hope to hear from you guys in the comments and thanks for watching our first Vietnam travel vlog!
* We’re Ryan & Stacia from DeathbyVlog. Unlike other travel vloggers, we live and work in a different country each month with a moderate housing budget. Sorry, but no backpacker lifestyle here! Hi, We are Jimmy and Tah,
American and Thai Millennials left the career in military and finance to become travel story tellers, proving the world that you don't have to be rich to travel well. Met in August, 2015 in South Korea, kicked off traveling in September, 2017 with $4000 in saving account and first started publishing our journey on the way we live the life we have always dreamt of - traveling and being able to work wherever we love ( as long as there is Wi-Fi and coffee)
☼ Currently homeless, live the life out of luggage, travel non-stop, and grow love along the way.
☼ We are deeply into traveling, doing what locals do, managing the budget to travel non-stop, challenging ourselves daily.
☼ Everything we show you here is to not only show you how our world is such an interesting place to explore, but also inspire you to live the life you love especially when you dream of traveling.
Still want to know more about each of us ? :
Thank you for joining us along this crazy journey

We head to party central Bui Vien Street where you can enjoy food, drinks, restaurants, and the clubs of Vietnam. Filled with backpackers and foreigners, Bui Vien Street is where the people go to party. The aura of the people and nightlife here is amazing. Vlog #230
