The Bells of St Margaret's Church, Westminster, London UK
Leaving Westminster Abbey we were treated to London swells leaving the Church and the bells pealing loudly. I think I spotted a Lord or Lady or two, and some were seen entering Parliament a few minutes later.

St Margaret's Church at Westminster Abbey Drone photography and video.
St Margaret's Church at Westminster Abbey Drone photography and video. Getting artwork for building wrap is not an easy task, especially in London where all the buildings and streets are so close together and you can’t get a good perspective.
Taking photographs for building wrap artwork at street level and then manipulating the image on a software program like Photoshop will only go so far. Once the building is over 20 meters high stretching the image perspective the building starts to look odd. Getting the artwork for building wrap life like is the very ‘art’ we specialise in.
Having done a lot of work for Westminster Abbey, Project Print Management was called in to produce a trompe l’oeil building wrap (also called scaffold wraps ) as St Margaret’s Church clock tower is having renovation work done and will be under scaffolding for over two years. A trompe l’oeil building wrap is basically a lifelike print of the building to disguise or hide the scaffolding. The art of course is not only getting the artwork for building wrap accurate but also making the print high enough resolution and ensuring the installation is carried out in a way you can’t see any fixings and creases. Only then will the trompe l’oeil building wrap look life like. The ambition is to make the construction site or scaffold go unnoticed.
The challenge in getting Artwork for building wrap
Having surveyed the area getting a van mounted platform positioned in the four elevations needed was not going to be possible or practical. One elevation would need the van to be positioned on Parliament Square. This would need special permission from Westminster Council and can take up to 4 weeks and the other elevation, trees were in the way from the only practical position.
The other option was a high resolution 4K drone.
Getting a drone to take the photos was the most practical solution. But flying a drone near the Houses of Parliament will need special permission and we know refusal is quite normal.
Westminster Abbey is neither a cathedral nor a parish Church but a ‘Royal Peculiar’ and is under the jurisdiction of a Dean and Chapter and needed to get permission from them first.
A drone pilot must have PFCO or CAA certification and insurance for commercial operations.
The pressure was on because by the time we got approval from the Dean we only had 1 week before the scaffolding went up and the opportunity to photographic and get the artwork for building wrap would have gone. All drone flights must apply for a Non Standard Flight Application from the National Air Traffic Control Services (NATCS). This normally takes 1 week but can be up to 21 days. We managed to get provisional ATC approval in principle the day before we were supposed to fly and we had to also get clearance from the PaDP (Parliamentary and Diplomatic protection) and London Control SWA (Senior Watch Assistant) which can only be done one hour before the flight. Fortunately we got permission from both bodies needed and we took off at 5am.
We were very lucky, as it was a fine, clear morning with little wind. The photography took around 1.5 hours which gave us about 30 mins to take some spectacular video of Westminster Abbey.

ancient blurb on St. Margaret's Church Westminster
St Margarets Church Parliament Square.
William Butterfield, All Saints, Margaret Street
All Saints Church, 7 Margaret Street, London
Architect: William Butterfield
Primary patrons: Alexander Beresford Hope and Henry Tritton
Designed 1849
Cornerstone laid by Edward Bouverie Pusey, 1850
Consecrated 1859
Speakers: Dr. Ayla Lepine and Dr. Steven Zucker
William Butterfield had little more than 100 square feet of real estate, but designed perhaps the greatest example of High Victorian Gothic architecture. The spire soars 227 feet above London and its interior is a kaleidoscope of color and pattern that expresses the vision of the Oxford Movement and the Ecclesiological Society. In 1841, the Society announced its intentions for their model church:
It must be in a Gothic Style.
It must be built of solid materials.
Its ornament should decorate its construction.
Its artist should be 'a single pious and laborious artist alone, pondering deeply over his duty to do his best for the service of God's Holy Religion'.
Above all the church must be built so that the 'Rubricks and Canons of the Church of England may be Consistently observed, and the Sacraments rubrically and decently administered’.

My equipment:
Gimbal - DJI Osmo 2 Mobile, I am not very good at using it:/
LG mobile phone - a bit on its last legs and overheating at all the hard work, but just about hanging in there.
Poor image quality is a combination of an old camera phone and me being rubbish with a gimbal!
I do the immersive first-person walks with these two items.
For vlogging to camera, I use my Canon G7X Mark ii. One day I hope to buy a proper camera gimbal so as to use the Canon for the actual filming, but this will take a bit of saving up for, and then a bit of learning! Probably by then my head will have been turned by a GoPro....

London Westminster area August 2013
rrz518 visits Westminster a central London area within the City of Westminster lying on the River Thames' north bank, centred 1.8 miles (2.9 km) southwest by west from the City of London's St Paul's Cathedral, and locally 0.58 miles (0.93 km) southwest by south from Charing Cross. Westminster's concentration of visitor attractions and historic landmarks, one of the highest in London, includes the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.
Historically within St Margaret's parish, City & Liberty of Westminster, Middlesex and the name Westminster is from an ancient description for Westminster Abbey's surrounds, literally West Minster or, before the abbey, monastery church. Pre-dating its being the seat of British government, it has continuously been the home of England's government since about 1200, High Middle Ages' Plantagenet times.
In a governmental context, Westminster often refers to Parliament itself, by virtue of its UNESCO World Heritage Palace of Westminster location. Also known as the Houses of Parliament, the closest tube stations are: Westminster, St James Park and Waterloo.
London Vlog: Parliament Square & Westminster Abbey
History Is Important! During my London trip, my friend Mel and I visited Parliament Square and Westminster Abbey to get our nerd on. Even though I was battling high pain and fatigue this day (which is why this video hardly has us in it) we had a wonderful time touring the Abbey. It was especially cool to see some AmRev era memorials and vaults!

London Westminster Walk
rrz518 follows the narration and walks thru London Westminster area on a nice Saturday afternoon. Westminster (/ˈwɛsmɪnstər, ˈwɛst-/) is an area of central London within the City of Westminster, part of the West End, on the north bank of the River Thames.[1] Westminster's concentration of visitor attractions and historic landmarks, one of the highest in London, includes the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.
Historically the area lay within St Margaret's parish, City & Liberty of Westminster, Middlesex.
The name Westminster originated from the informal description of the abbey church and royal peculiar of St Peter's (Westminster Abbey), literally West of the City of London, indeed until the Reformation there was a reference to the 'East Minster' at Minories (Holy Trinity Priory, Aldgate) east of the City; the abbey was part of the royal palace that had been created here by Edward the Confessor. It has been the home of the permanent institutions of England's government continuously since about 1200 (High Middle Ages' Plantagenet times), from 1707 the UK government instead, and is now the seat of British government.
In a government context, Westminster often refers to the Parliament of the United Kingdom, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Palace of Westminster - also known as the Houses of Parliament. The closest tube stations are Westminster, St James's Park on the Jubilee, Circle, and District lines.
Westminster street map
The area is the centre of UK government, with Parliament in the Palace of Westminster and most of the major Government ministries known as Whitehall, itself the site of the royal palace that replaced that at Westminster.
Within the area is Westminster School, a major public school which grew out of the Abbey, and the University of Westminster, attended by over 20,000 students. Bounding Westminster to the north is Green Park, a Royal Park of London.
