Saint Stanisław (St. Stanislaus)
Visit-
This music was composed by Nathan Shirley to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Polish artist Wyspiański. It was performed in Krakow during the unveiling of Wyspiański's newly realized stained glass window depicting the body of Saint Stanisław in his opened coffin. The window was to be placed in the Wawel Cathedral, but the painting for the window proved controversial, and the window was never made... until 2007.
The composition consists of original music, but also incorporates the famous hymn to Saint Stanisław Gaude, mater Polonia originating in the 13th century. Just as the dismembered corpse of Stanisław rejoined itself, so too do the fragmented musical elements rejoin at the end.
The narrated text of Wyspiański has been cut from the middle in order to fit the 15 minute limitation.

Bicycle ride along the Vistula River - Krakow attractions
This is a bicycle ride (tour) along the Vistula River (Wisla in Polish) in and around the Polish city of Krakow (Kraków). Our bike sightseeing tour starts on the bicycle road (cycling road) which lies next to the Vistula River (In Polish this bicycle track is called Bulwar Kurlandzki). Our ride begins next to the river just in front of the Krakow Sheraton Hotel (west) and ends at the Stopień wodny „Dąbie (a dam area further in the east of the city).
From our bicycle tour viewers should be able to get an impression of what it is like to ride by the river. Our ride took place in April when it was still very cold and even rainy / snowy and still we enjoyed the ride although we did not find that the route was very interesting from a tourists perspective (we took the ride as an active holiday activity). On our journey on our bike route between the Krakow Sheraton and the Stopień wodny „Dąbie viewers we will show or mention landmarks and places that could be of interest to tourists visiting Krakow.
Landmarks along the way included the Gothic Wawel Castle, several bridges the Most Grunwaldzky, Karakov, Piłsudski Bridge (named after Marshall Pilsudski, who is considered the father of the Polish independence in 1918), Kladka Ojca Bernatka (Little Father Bernard's Footbridge / the Lovers Bridge where lovers have decorated the bridge with locks), Most Powstańców Śląskich, some railway bridges and Most Kotlarski (the bridge you cross if you are going to visit Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory). Also look out for landmarks such as the Krakow: Static Balloon ride (with a platform with space for 16 people this balloon rises to approximately 300m on a line), Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology (Muzeum Sztuki i Techniki Japońskiej Manggha w Krakowie), Church on the Rock (Kościół na Skałce) this is where the Bishop of Kraków Saint Stanislaus of Szczepanów was slain by order of Polish King Bolesław II in 1079, Forum Hotel (previously the Sofitel Cracow, the amusement park (Krakow Lunapark) and the Galeria Kazimierz shopping center. We borrowed our bicycles free of charge from the hotel we where staying at, The Krakow Sheraton.
Wki writes about Wawel Castle, The Gothic Wawel Castle in Kraków in Poland was built at the behest of Casimir III the Great, who reigned from 1333 to 1370, and consists of a number of structures situated around the central courtyard...
Wiki writes, Church of St Michael the Archangel and St Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr and Pauline Fathers Monastery, Skałka, which means a small rock in Polish, is a small outcrop in Kraków where the Bishop of Kraków saint Stanislaus of Szczepanów was slain by order of Polish king Bolesław II the Bold in 1079. This action resulted in the king's exile and the eventual canonization of the slain bishop...
The footage from this bicycle tour along the Vistula River (Wisla in Polish) is filmed in Krakow Poland. The ride is between the Sheraton Krakow Hotel and the river dam called Stopień wodny „Dąbie which lies a little further east of the hotel. We did not feel that this ride along the Vistula River was the most interesting tourist attraction / activity to do in Krakow in April but during the warmer summer we are sure many will enjoy this ride.

The Royal Archcathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus on the Wawel Hill (Polish: królewska bazylika archikatedralna śś. Stanisława i Wacława na Wawelu), also known as the Wawel Cathedral (Polish: katedra wawelska), is a Roman Catholic church located on Wawel Hill in Kraków, Poland. More than 900 years old, it is the Polish national sanctuary and traditionally has served as coronation site of the Polish monarchs as well as the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Kraków. Karol Wojtyla, who in 1978 became Pope John Paul II, was ordained to the priesthood there on All Saints Day (November 1), 1946, offered his first Mass as a priest in the Crypt of the Cathedral on 2 November 1946 and was ordained Kraków's auxiliary bishop on September 28, 1958. Both of these pre-pontificate events were depicted in the first half of the 2005 U.S. TV miniseries, Pope John Paul II in which Cary Elwes played the younger Wojtyla.[1]
The current, Gothic cathedral, is the third edifice on this site: the first was constructed and destroyed in the 11th century; the second one, constructed in the 12th century, was destroyed by a fire in 1305. The construction of the current one began in the 14th century on the orders of bishop Nanker.

History Of Poland During The Piast Dynasty
History: Middle Ages by Country
The period of rule by the Piast dynasty between the 10th and 14th centuries is the first major stage of the history of the Polish nation. The dynasty was founded by a series of dukes listed by the chronicler Gallus Anonymous in the early 12th century: (Siemowit, Lestek and Siemomysł. It was Mieszko I, the son of Siemomysł, who is now considered the proper founder of the Polish state at about 960 AD. The ruling house then remained in power in the Polish lands until 1370. Mieszko converted to Christianity of the Western Latin Rite in an event known as the Baptism of Poland in 966, which established a major cultural boundary in Europe based on religion. He also completed a unification of the West Slavic tribal lands that was fundamental to the existence of the new country of Poland. Following the emergence of the Polish state, a series of rulers converted the population to Christianity, created a kingdom of Poland in 1025 and integrated Poland into the prevailing culture of Europe. Mieszko's son Bolesław I the Brave established a Roman Catholic Archdiocese in Gniezno, pursued territorial conquests and was officially crowned in 1025 as the first king of Poland. The first Piast monarchy collapsed with the death of Mieszko II Lambert in 1034, followed by its restoration under Casimir I in 1042. In the process, the royal dignity for Polish rulers was forfeited, and the state reverted to the status of a duchy. Duke Casimir's son Bolesław II the Bold revived the military assertiveness of Bolesław I, but became fatally involved in a conflict with Bishop Stanislaus of Szczepanów and was expelled from the country. Bolesław The second I, the last duke of the early period, succeeded in defending his country and recovering territories previously lost. Upon his death in 1138, Poland was divided among his sons. The resulting internal fragmentation eroded the initial Piast monarchical structure in the 12th and 13th centuries and caused fundamental and lasting changes.
