Erie to Pittsburgh trail system, Samuel Justus Trail, Franklin To Oil City
This Samuel Justus to Oil City trail along the Allegheny river is a vital link in the Erie to Pittsburgh trail system. It's very scenic with beautiful river views, River Ridge Farm, open recreational areas and many historical sights all the way to Oil City. You'll see parts of town, a small park and classic homes on the south side of Oil City.

Riding the Samuel Justus Trail and Allegheny River Trail
Jim and Ray of the Erie Outing Club did a ride on the Allegheny River Trail and the Samuel Justus Trail. I had a ICE tadpole trike and he had a Bacchetta Giro 20. It was a nice Indian Summer Day in November

Along the North Country Trail
The North Country Trail is the longest trail in America's National Scenic Trail system. It connects many shorter trails such as the Mesabi Trail, Superior Hiking Trail, Ohio Buckeye Trail and the New York Finger Lakes Trail along with rail trails and historic canal trails to create 4,600 mile route from Crown Point in New York to Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. Each year new trail is added with the ultimate goal of having all 4,600 miles on foot path.
The music artist is Timothy Seaman. The first piece is titled Hiking in the Highland Firs. It is available on Timothy Seaman's album titled Common Wealth. The second piece is titled Hazel River, it is available on Timothy Seaman's album titled Here on This Ridge.
All the images are from Bart Smith (myself). I walked and photographed the North Country Trail over a three year period, walking 300 miles in 2006, 4000 miles in 2007 and 300 miles in 2008. I used a Nikon F3 with three Nikon lenses covering the range of 24mm to 300mm. I used a Gitzo Tripod. I used a baby jogger to push my back pack along the road, rail trail and canal trail sections which comprises about a quarter of the North Country Trail. i want to stress that the jogger works great on road sections but is NOT advised for trail tread sections. It becomes more work than it is worth and some sections of trail do not allow wheeled vehicles. A few times I folded and boxed the stroller and mailed it ahead when nearing trail stretches.
