Collecting Sand Dollars and Seashells on Tigertail Beach - Marco Island, Florida
During our stay at the Naples/Marco Island KOA we took a day trip to Marco Island on a hunt for seashell treasure. We heard that Tigertail beach was the perfect spot to find sand dollars, so we loaded up the kids and our buckets for a day at the beach. Once we crossed the murky lagoon (being careful not to step on snails!) we were on the beach. It was beautiful and full of shells! The kids walked nearly 2 miles down the shoreline in search of the perfect treasures. By the end of the day, our buckets were full with many types of shells.

Sand Dollar Spit - Marco Island
Sand Dollar Spit is located on the northwest corner of Tigertail Beach Park. As we were walking out to the beach we happened upon a gentleman creating a rather impressive sandcastle.

How to Find a Sand Dollar on the Gulf Coast of Florida
On the northern tip of Tigertail Beach in Marco Island, Florida, you'll find Sand Dollar Island, where the Gulf waters deposit hundreds of sand dollars every day. Here are some tips as to how to look for them!
Aerial Video Footage of Sand Dollar Island at Tigertail Beach - Marco Island, FL
Tigertail Beach has a distinct split personality. You pay $8 to park and come to a clean and well-kept park with changing rooms, a first-rate snack bar, a great playground and a concession stand that rents kayaks, stand up paddleboards and other beach gear. This developed part of the park faces onto a salt-water lagoon.
Cross the lagoon, however, and you leave development behind. Sand Dollar Island is three miles of beach with soft white sand, sand dollars and a myriad of shells, dolphins swimming off-shore, ospreys soaring overhead and so many shore birds that it’s a stop on the Great Florida Birding Trail.

Go Shelling with Me!! Collecting Seashells from CAYO COSTA Island off Florida's West Coast
Here you have some raw (unedited) footage of me shelling the beaches of Cayo Costa Island which is located off the Southwest coast of Florida (not far from Sanibel Island and Captiva Island). Left the GoPro on the boat and the water was just to cold for me to go back to get it so I filmed this with my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy 9S). Hope it's not too bad! Looking back at this video I see some treasures I missed! Do you see anything I missed out on? Comment below!! Hope you enjoy this video.

The night spent in a tent was worthwhile .except for some loud neighbors with karaoke machine. Slept by Cape Romano, listening to vigorous waves.
