Octopus in Kona
Here is a video of an Octopus we found when diving with Sandwich Isle Divers in Kona Hawaii. The female hid in the nest and the male which is shown in the video tried to decoy us away.

13 HOURS IN THE 313: Ultimate 1-Day Detroit Adventure Guide
Welcome to the Ultimate Detroit Adventure Guide: 13 Hour Edition. In this video, we take you through our top pics of places to go & things to do in Detroit if you have a full day on the ground. Let’s dive into the guide!
#1 - ROSE’S FINE FOODS or SISTER PIE
Scratch-made, hip diner food from a company that pays employees a liveable wage & sources local ingredients! This was a Kickstarter project & grew into a local favoritate! Try for the “early bird” specials. A quick & sweet alternative is Sister Pie! This is very close to our house & it’s been highly recommended from major news outlets like New York Times. The pies are fantastic!
#2 - MOGO Bike Tour Around The RIVERFRONT
Detroit’s bike share program! Pick-up & drop-off all around town. Biking is the preferred mode of transport for many in Detroit & when you get here you’ll see why. Detroit is flat, streets are nice & wide & there are a TON of new bike lanes. Watch out for those potholes!
#3 - ATWATER BREWERY (Beer) & ANDREWS ON THE CORNER (Reuben)
One of the BEST breweries in the city. Great selection of tasty brews! Just down the street is another one of our favorite food spots. Andrews On The Corner is one of the OLDEST bars in Michigan with the same family running the business since 1918! They make the BEST REUBEN sandwich. Highly recommended!
#4 - DOWNTOWN BIKE TOUR: Spirit of Detroit, Joe Louis “Fist”, Hart Plaza, Guardian Building, Campus Martius
Iconic symbols include the “Spirit of Detroit”
& the giant Joe Louis fist. Hart Plaza is where some of the biggest events occur like the International Jazz Festival. Guardian Building (world famous art-deco masterpiece) & also Campus Martius Park (centerpoint for seasonal events like ice skating).
#5 - MIDTOWN: Jolly Pumpkin, 3rd Man Records & Shinola
One of the coolest neighbourhoods & has some of the nicest homes & best food & drink spots. When Obama came to visit they took him to lunch at Jolly Pumpkin. Awesome sour beer & excellent pizza. Next door is 3rd Man Records, started by Jack White & now churns out records every day. Another door down is Shinola where fine hand-crafted goods are made (watches, bikes & more).
#6 - DIA: The Detroit Institute of Arts
This should be your #1 not-to-be-missed stop. World-class art museum known as the “crown jewel” Detroit. Don't miss Diego Rivera’s MASTERPIECE “Detroit Industry” murals showing the factory at work. You could spend several days at the DIA but for a brief glimpse you can just run in, check out the Diego murals & keep going. You’ll need to come back again in the future when you have more time!
#7 - FISHER BUILDING
Detroit’s most famous architect Albert Kahn completed this incredible masterpiece in 1928 & it’s one of the finest examples of art-deco architect anywhere. Considered “Detroit’s largest art object”.
#8 - MOTOWN MUSEUM (aka Hitsville, USA)
In 1959 Berry Gordy turned a small house into a recording industry juggernaut & started churning out motown music hits leading to the “Golden Age of Motown Music”… This museum tells the story of how it happened.
#9 - EASTERN MARKET: Street Art & Farmer’s Market
Largest open-air farmer’s market in the nation. Hidden in the alleyways & adorning building surfaces is the other thing that makes Eastern Market a world-famous destination: street art (graffitti). Artists come from all over to leave their mark.
#10 - CAR TOUR: Heidelberg Project & Packard Plant
One of the most bizarre & controversial art sites in the city. Heidelberg Project is a 2-block piece of street art. Love it or hate, it's sure to spark a conversation. The Packard Plant was the largest & most high-tech factory of it’s time. First factory using reinforced concrete. Packard Automobiles were made here & during WWII the engines for the mighty P-51 fighter plane were made here. Now the site is one of Detroit’s most famous ruins but there are plans to renovate the building!
#11 - BELLE ISLE Sunset / Picnic
Simply the BEST place to see the sunset. AWESOME back-lit silhouette of the city skyline. Belle Isle is a state park so you need a “park pass” to drive a car on the island but bikes & pedestrians are free.
#12 - MICHIGAN CENTRAL STATION & SLOWS BBQ
Best restaurant / bar scenes in the city is also home to SLOWS BBQ (our pick for top dinner spot in town). This place was one of the first success stories that gave hope to others & helped spark the Detroit comeback. Across the street is the Michigan Central Station. This terminal building was the hub for all train activity in the city before being abandoned. Recently Ford purchased the building & plans to turn it into a future mobility campus.
#13 - SEASONAL EVENTS / SHOWS / GAMES / CONVENTIONS
Detroit has a LOT to offer year-round! Detroit is the ONLY city in the country where all major sports teams are located downtown. World famous destinations like Fox theater, Masonic Temple, Comerica Park, & more. See online for details.

Catching Crabs at Night on the Beach!
Oregon Coast Day 1: My old man and I found dungeness crabs while walking around in the surf on our beach! We struck the mother-load as we got closer to some rocks and were about to start crabbing with traps when we realized we were close to a wildlife refuge! We have to do our crabbing outside of that area but the rest of the coast is open! Plenty of crabbing coming up this week! Thank you for watching!

Niihau Kauai Boat Tour
After sightseeing and hearing the history of the Napali Coast we will head across the channel to the “Forbidden Island” of Niihau. When we arrive at Niihau we’ll choose our snorkel spot. Our caring crew will assist and instruct you in snorkeling—relax, float, and watch the comings and goings of the aquatic world. No other place in Hawaii offers you such unique formations, and no other company provides you with the opportunity to see Niihau and Lehua. Niihau’s old age means it has been shaped and carved by ocean currents and waves the longest of all the Hawaiian Islands.
After snorkeling, enjoy a gourmet deli-style buffet lunch. Choose from a variety of deli meats, cheeses, veggies and breads to make your sandwich a work of art! Also included are pasta and fresh fruits. Assorted soft drinks are served throughout the tour, with beer and wine served after snorkeling. While you are eating we talk story about the island, the people and history of Niihau.

PBS Hawaii - HIKI NŌ Episode 505 | Hosted by Seabury Hall Middle | Full Program V2
Premiere Airdate: October 31, 2013.
This episode of HIKI NŌ is being hosted by Seabury Hall Middle School in upcounty Maui.
TOP STORIES: From Lahainaluna High School on Maui comes the story of Kimberly Yap, a senior at Lahainaluna who moved to Maui at age five from the small Micronesian island of Kiribati. With high school graduation in the near future, Kimberly faces the tough choice of either staying in the U.S. to go to college and pursue a career, or moving back to Kiribati and its very traditional way of life. According to Kimberly, Kiribati culture insists on women playing a supportive, subservient role to men. Careers and higher education are not considered proper choices for women, and Kimberly has aspirations for a professional career. Also adding to her conflicted emotions is the fact that Kiribati and its culture are in danger of extinction, as the island is gradually submerging due to rising sea levels caused by global warning. From King Kekaulike High School on Maui, the story of the Haku Baldwin Therapeutic Riding Center, where special needs children from ages 2 to 17 receive the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding.
ALSO FEATURED: Also featured: Students from Waipahu Intermediate School in Central Oahu tell the story behind the Waipahu smokestack ( a remnant from Waipahu's sugar plantation days); Kauai's Ke Kula Niihau O Kekaha Public Charter School reports on an opihi survey that is charting of the effects of the human population on Kauai's opihi population; students from Kapolei High School on Oahu tell the story of a real-life circus family; students from Waimea Canyon Middle School on Kauai show us how to form a traditional Hawaiian salt bed; and students from Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea on Hawaii Island present information on ocean safety.
