Sankaty Head Lighthouse
Sankaty Head Light is located on the island of Nantucket in the quaint town of Siasconset. It was one of the first lighthouses in the United States to receive a Fresnel lens. The views from this spot are spectacular and should be on every vacationer's list of spots to visit when touring the island!

Drone Footage of Sankaty Lighthouse Summer 2018. Very famous, both the lighthouse and the golf course.The shoals off the eastern coast of Nantucket had a long history as a hazard to navigation. The United States government decided in the 1840s that a prominent lighthouse should be erected to alert mariners to that hazard. Congress appropriated $12,000 for its construction in 1848, with additional funds totaling $8,000 in following years. The light went into service in February 1850.[2] The tower is 60 feet (18 m) high; its lower portion is constructed of brick, and its upper part is granite. The light's turning mechanism was powered by a weight-driven brass clockwork,
A brick house was built next to the tower at the time of its construction to house the light keeper's family.[2] In 1887 this house was torn down and a new structure was built.[3] Renovations to the tower at the time included installation of a new lantern section, adding some 10 feet (3.0 m) to its height.
In 1933 the light was electrified, and the mechanical works to turn it were taken out of service.[3] Its original lens was removed in 1950, and is now at the Nantucket Whaling Museum.[4] The light was fully automated in 1965.[2]

In 1987, the lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Sankaty Head Light. The Sconset Land Trust acquired the lighthouse in 2007, and had it moved away from the eroding bluff (approximately 400 feet (120 m)) in October of that year.[2]
ankaty Head Golf Club is one of the Eastern-most golf courses in Massachusetts, perched on the edge of Nantucket Island in Siasconset, Massachusetts. The course was designed by Emerson Armstrong and opened in 1923. It is one of the few examples of world-class links-style golf outside of the UK (see Shinnecock Hills). The Atlantic wraps around 270 degrees of the layout and the famous Sankaty Head Lighthouse looms over the front nine. The Head Professional is Mark Heartfield.
Sankaty members are a driving force behind the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund. They also have successfully sustained one of the few remaining caddy camps in the world, Camp Sankaty Head, which has existed since the late 1930s. Membership is private, but the public is allowed to play in the off-season (October–May) for a fee. Famous members include Jack Welch (whose island residence is just off the 4th tee-box), Bob Wright, Harry Fraker, Larry Bossidy, Amos Hostetter, Henry C. Pfaff, and Bill Belichick.

Aquinnah - Gay Head Lighthouse Martha's Vineyard, - Gay Head Light is situated atop the 130 foot cliffs at the western end of Martha's Vineyard, MA. The US government had the light tower, with a double keeper's house, built on November 1799; ahead of schedule and on budget. The original tower, with renovations and upgrades and less the keeper's house, still stands on the site.
Martha's Vineyard (Wampanoag: Noepe, /mɑːr.ðəz.viːnjʊd/, often called just the Vineyard) is an island located south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts that is known for being an affluent summer colony. It includes the smaller Chappaquiddick Island which is usually connected to the Vineyard, though storms and hurricanes have been known to separate the two. The last such separation of the islands was in 2007 and the two islands are again connected as of April 2, 2015.
It is the 58th largest island in the United States, with a land area of 100 square miles (260 km2), and the third largest on the East Coast of the United States, after Long Island and Mount Desert Island. The island constitutes the bulk of Dukes County, Massachusetts, which also includes the Elizabeth Islands and the island of Nomans Land.
The Vineyard was home to one of the earliest known deaf communities in the United States; consequently, a special sign language developed on the island called Martha's Vineyard Sign Language (MVSL).
The 2010 census reported a year-round population of 16,535 residents, although the summer population can swell to more than 100,000 people. About 56% of the Vineyard's 14,621 homes are seasonally occupied.
Martha's Vineyard is primarily known as a summer colony, and it is only accessible by boat and air. However, its year-round population has considerably increased since the 1960s. The island's year-round population increased about a third each decade from 1970 to 2000, for a total of 145% or about 3 to 4% per year (46%, 30%, and 29% in each respective decade). The population of the Vineyard was 14,901 in the 2000 Census and was estimated at 15,582 in 2004. (Dukes County was 14,987 in 2000 and 15,669 in 2004). Dukes County includes the six towns on Martha's Vineyard and Gosnold; it increased by more than 10 percent between 2000 and 2010, according to Census data released in 2011, gaining nearly 1,548 residents. The Island's population increased from 14,987 to 16,535.
A study by the Martha's Vineyard Commission found that the cost of living on the island is 60% higher than the national average, and housing prices are 96% higher.[7] A study of housing needs by the Commission found that the average weekly wage on Martha's Vineyard was 71% of the state average, the median home price was 54% above the state's and the median rent exceeded the state's by 17%.
