Alte | Loulé (4K)
A freguesia de Alte localiza-se no centro do Algarve, no extremo noroeste do concelho de Loulé, estendendo-se pela Serra e pelo Barrocal.
Atualmente cobre uma área de 97 Km2, com uma população aproximada de 1987 habitantes (Censos 2011).
Situa-se na parte sul da Serra do Caldeirão, é delimitada a Norte pela freguesia de S. Barnabé (concelho de Almodôvar), a Nascente pelas freguesias de Salir e Benafim, a Sul pela freguesia de Paderne (concelho de Albufeira) e a Poente pela freguesia de S. Bartolomeu de Messines (concelho de Silves). É atravessada, de Poente para Nascente, pela Estrada Nacional 124 e dista da sede do concelho cerca de 25 Km.
A aldeia, de grande interesse pela sua tipicidade, continua fiel às suas origens e apresenta casas brancas com chaminés artesanalmente trabalhadas, que contrastam com o colorido das floreiras, incentivando a um passeio através das estreitas ruelas e escadinhas calcetadas.
A Igreja Matriz continua a ser a mais antiga referência histórica de Alte. O Carnaval, a Semana Cultural de Alte e a Festa do 1º de Maio são, sem dúvida, os momentos mais altos dos festejos levados a efeito ao longo do ano.

The parish of Alte is located in the center of the Algarve, in the extreme northwest of the county of Loulé, extending through the Serra and Barrocal.
It currently covers an area of 97 Km2, with an approximate population of 1987 inhabitants (Census 2011).
The village, of great interest for its typicality, remains faithful to its origins and presents white houses with handcrafted chimneys, which contrast with the color of the flowerbeds, encouraging a walk through narrow alleys and cobbled steps.
The Mother Church remains Alte's oldest historical reference. Carnival, Alte Cultural Week and the Feast of the 1st of May are undoubtedly the highest moments of the festivities held throughout the year.
Out and About at the River House
S.B. Messines, near Silves in the Algarve has two walking routes marked in this area. The Via Algarviana is a walking route across the Algarve from Spain to Cape St. Vincent and passes through S.B. Messines and has a emblem of a walker (as shown in the slides) on the walking sign posts and the other walk is marked with yellow posts (as shown in the slides). The path goes past the River House to the church. The River House can be viewed at holiday-rentals.co.uk/p435709.
