4) Caravela Café & Bistro- 31st jan Road, Panjim
Today we are going to have breakfast at Caravela Café & Bistro and Nalini cant stop smiling. The reason is this is one of the cafés which has a unique menu only for coffees and not any coffee, its an Indian brand called the Flying squirrel. The café serves the best Rissois (A rissol is a small croquette, enclosed in pastry or rolled in breadcrumbs, usually baked or deep fried. It is filled with sweet or savoury ingredients, most often minced meat or fish, and is served as an entrée, main course, dessert or side dish). Another amazing dish is the soup and the soup was served with olive oil. The brand is Azeite do Reino. Many years ago whatever came from Portugal was called do Reino meaning the Kingdom of Portugal.
They have 6 different coffee machines blending different coffees but the main 3 are Aromatique, Paramã and Sattva. But my favourite is the Sun Kissed.

Fontainhas and Sao Tome
Fontainhas is the heritage quarter of the capital city of Panaji, lying along the banks of the ancient Ourem creek. The new commercial complex of Patto along with the main Kadamba bus stand, lies just across the creek from The Caravela Homestay.
This old district or Latin quarter has a completely different atmosphere from the hustle and bustle of the main city, with its Mediterranean appearance, narrow streets and overhanging balconies of the ancient Portuguese style houses.
The area was laid out on reclaimed land in the late eighteenth century by the Mossmikar, a Goan expatriate so called because he had made his fortune in the Portuguese colony of Mozambique. The entire area is laid out at the base of a hillside known as Altinho, and the natural springs on the hillside, gave the name Fontainhas to the area.
The old world charm of the area is retained due to the fact that most houses in the area, which are built in the classic Portuguese style are still painted in the traditional colours of pale yellow, green or blue, and have red-tiled roofs with overhanging balconies.

Panaji
Panaji is the capital of the Indian state of Goa and the headquarters of North Goa district. It lies on the banks of the Mandovi River estuary in Tiswadi taluka. With a population of 114,405 in the metropolitan area, Panaji is Goa's largest city, ahead of Margao and Vasco da Gama.
Panaji means land that never floods. It has terraced hills, concrete buildings with balconies and red-tiled roofs, churches, and a riverside promenade. There are avenues lined with gulmohar, acacia and other trees. The Baroque Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church is located overlooking the main square known as Praça da Igreja. Colourful villas, cobbled streets and interesting buildings give Panaji a Portuguese ambience.

Africa Speaks! (1930)
Africa Speaks! is a 1930 American exploitation-documentary film directed by Walter Futter and narrated by Lowell Thomas. Although the film was shot over the fourteen months of the expedition in the Serengeti and in Uganda, a scene involving an attack by a lion on a native was apparently staged at the Selig Zoo in Los Angeles and involved a toothless lion. Hoefler wrote a book entitled Africa Speaks about the expedition that was published in 1931. The title of the film was parodied in the 1940 cartoon Africa Squeaks and the 1949 Abbott and Costello film Africa Screams.
