Colonie NY Old Price Chopper, Tour (April 2009)
Reuploaded, better quality.
A Tour around Price Chopper located in Colonie in Albany.
Leo moves to Waterford
In 1816 the old precinct of Halve Maan” (Halfmoon) was divided into two separate towns, Halfmoon and Waterford. The Village of Waterford is located within the town and holds the distinction of being the oldest continually incorporated village in the United States.
The industries of Waterford include Momentive Performance Materials, which is the largest employer in Saratoga County. Mohawk Paper Mill on the historic Kings Canal and Ursula of Switzerland are located in the Northside section of Waterford. Industries on Hudson River Road include Cascades, DeGussa, Golub Warehouses and Maximum Security Products. The New York State DOT and New York State Canal Corporation both operate out of Waterford and the Bureau of Historic Sites has their headquarters on Peebles Island, which is a New York State Park situated in Waterford.
The Town has a full-time Police Department; five volunteer fire departments, a Rescue Squad and an Emergency Team. It is served by two school districts, Waterford-Halfmoon being the primary district, a small portion of the Town is in Shenendehowa School District.
The Town is currently in a state of growth and will continue to grow for some time to come. The many civic groups that make up the Town continue to work for the betterment of the community. This can truly be called a volunteer community.
The town is part of the Van Schaick land patent of 1687. The first settlement took place at the site of the current Waterford village, then called Half Moon Point.[citation needed]
The town was formed in 1816 by splitting the area of southeastern Saratoga County known as Halfmoon (anglicized from the Dutch name Halve Maan) into the town of Halfmoon and the town of Waterford.[citation needed]
The village of Waterford is the oldest incorporated village in the US, having been incorporated in 1794, before the town was formed. Waterford has been host to Canal Fest and Tugboat Roundup celebrations for many years.
The Catawissa (tugboat), Northside Historic District, Ormsby-Laughlin Textile Companies Mill, Peebles (Peobles) Island, Urger (canal tugboat), and Waterford Village Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[1]
Waterfront community
Waterford is home to the largest annual tugboat festival in the Northeast US. Every September, a three-day festival is held in Waterford along the waterfront in the village. Recently, 30,000 visitors attended over the 3-day weekend.[citation needed] Arts, crafts, farmer's market items, games, music, story-telling and of course tugboats are on display. Many historic boats travel through the locks in Waterford, as it is the entrance to the modern New York State Barge Canal system.

Brewed in New York - Capital Region Full Episode
New York’s Capital City was once the second largest beer-producer in the world after London, England. Albany is the home of C.H. Evans Brewing, a brewery that dates back to 1786. Maya sits down with owner Neil Evans to learn how he revitalized a family brewing tradition with deep roots. Across the Hudson River in Troy, Matt learns how to draw ‘cask beer’ at Brown’s Brewing and then stops by Druthers: a brewpub started by three brothers in Saratoga Springs that has expanded to multiple locations across the region.

The Truth About George Washington
George Washington was unanimously elected as the first president of the United States of America after winning the American Revolutionary War as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army.
Washington was first called Father of his Country three years after the beginning of the Revolutionary War – a status he earned not only for his military accomplishments, but also because of the numerous virtues he was perceived to possess as a human being.
But within Washington's impeccable character, one quality stood out the most – a unique immunity to the corrupting effects of power, which stemmed from his selfless nature. I often say of George Washington that he was one of the few in the whole history of the world who was not carried away by power, stated Robert Frost, America's great poet-philosopher.
After overthrowing the tyranny of the British Empire, Americans were unwilling to trust anyone with the power of a central government, yet in George Washington they saw a man who had transcended human fallibility. Had he lived in the days of idolatry, the Pennsylvania Journal noted in 1777, Washington would have been worshipped as a god.
How could such a man ever abuse his power, let alone become a tyrant? Furthermore, if men like Washington exist and can be elected into power, perhaps the United States government would never follow in the footsteps of the hated British Empire.
Does the mortal George Washington live up to his immortal legend? What is the Truth About George Washington?

Senator Charles Schumer visits Saranac
Senator Charles Schumer recently stopped by Saranac, a small brewery in New York, to discuss the FDA's proposed ruling on spent grain. The current ruling was proposed as part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and represents an unwarranted burden for brewers and farmers. During the meeting, Senator Schumer warned of the cost it could have for these local small brewers:
The brewing industry estimates that compliance with the proposed rule would cost brewers in America about 50 million dollars and would be a real burden for small brewers who produce less than 1,000 barrels of beer annually.
