Pike Place Market is a landmark of #Seattle, and one of the oldest continuously functioning markets in the United States. I had been there once before when I was a kid, but this time I was on a mission to go on the ultimate Pike Place Market food tour!
In this video you’ll find some of the best food within the market and all the details about what to order and eat when you’re in Seattle, Washington. One tip - go early to start eating before the main huge rush comes - when it gets to mid-day, the market is packed.
Here are all the restaurants we tried at #PikePlaceMarket:
Lowell's Restaurant - For breakfast we went to the legendary Lowell's Restaurant, serving a mix of classic American food including seafood. I wanted to try their dungeness crab eggs benedict, which was a little expensive, but pretty good.
Dungeness crab eggs benedict - $25
Pure Food Fish Market - Next to Lowell’s don’t miss the smoked salmon. Again, it’s not cheap, but it’s so good, salmon glistening and embedded with smoke.
½ Pound salmon - $16.56
Ghost Alley Espresso - Next on this Pike Place Market food tour I was in desperate need of a coffee to begin the morning so we navigated our way past the gnarly gum alley to Ghost Alley Espresso. Great place for a quick cup of espresso.
Doppio espresso - $3
Piroshky Piroshky - A legendary bakery that serves mostly Russian influenced baked goods, both sweet and savory, is Piroshky Piroshky. Again, I tried to keep it pretty classic, and Seattle style, so Jason and I split the salmon pate piroshky. It was very tasty, with a cream cheesy taste.
Salmon - $6.85
Pike Place Chowder - Having won every chowder competition and award in the US as possible, Pike Place Chowder serves America’s #1 Chowder. So you know you can’t miss it when you go to Pike Place Market. We got in line about 20 minutes before they opened and line didn’t take long. You order, get your chowder, and then sit down. I don’t have too much experience with chowder, but indeed it was good, and I also really liked the seafood bisque.
Total price - $37.76 total
Beecher's Handmade Cheese - Another classic is Beecher's Handmade Cheese where you can sample cheese curds and also order grilled cheese sandwiches.
Flagship sandwich - $7.49
Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt - They also have a very loyal following and for sure it’s some of the best yogurt I’ve ever tried.
Market Grill - Finally to end this Seattle food tour we stopped at Market Grill, right in the heart of the market and I ordered the grilled salmon plate. Overall, it was good, and a perfect ending to this extreme food tour!
Grilled salmon plate - $15
Thank you for watching!

I was on a food tour of Pikes Market in Seattle with Savor Seattle
Wine Tasting in Leavenworth Washington
Leavenworth, Washington is one of the hottest up-and-coming wine regions in the Northwest. The terrain gives the wines depth and complexity, and the growing number of wineries and vintners experimenting throughout the region produces amazing varietals. Join us for a wine tour of several of the over a dozen wineries and wine tasting rooms in downtown Leavenworth and the surrounding valley. Taste, sip, savor and repeat!
Story of Seattle's dam
From my trip to Washington (state) for a meeting of the Western States Water Council. We had a tour to the source of water for Seattle. We were being shown a dam which was build in the early 1900's to generate electricity. A good dam built at a bad location. Our tour guide who worked for the city was an excellent story teller. I captured only a small part of the story where he is reading from a news story on the excellence of the dam, before the problems of the location were know.
4 DAYS WEEKEND IN SEATTLE
I was in good company for this adventure in Seattle, Washington. Chris and I had a couple friends with us to visit this beautiful city surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests. We also rented a car to visit the incredible Mount Rainier National Park and the Snoqualmie area.

Washington Craft Beer Festivals
Each year the WA Beer Commission holds festivals around the state celebrating the production of craft beer.
The Washington Beer Commission is the first of its kind commodity commission in the United States, was formed in 2006, when the Washington State Legislature authorized the creation of the Beer Commission to promote the state's microbreweries.
Washington's breweries, many of them small and family owned, are integral parts of their local communities. When you choose to buy beer brewed in Washington, you support businesses that in turn contribute generously to charitable organizations that support a host of worthy projects in all corners of the state.
Simply put, Washington produces some of the finest beer in the country and our new Beer Commission will help spread the word about these wonderful products. Our microbrews emphasize quality and flavor, and are a signature product of the Evergreen State. And our renowned hops, barley and wheat are the perfect premium ingredients for the nation's best craft brewers.

Visiting the Evergreen State and Purple Cafe & Wine Bar
I visited Seattle on my birthday: Feb. 5th to renew my license and hung out with my old friends. Good time! Just FYI, licensing department in Lynnwood, WA was super empty in the morning of Tuesday. You don't even have to line up before they open!

Pike brews first beer made from Washington state ingredients
Pike Brewing Company's owner Charles Finkel believes not just that beer should be good, but that it draws people together for conversation. Learn more about the new Pike Locale Skagit Valley Alba, the first beer ever to made completely from Washington state ingredients. The brewing team worked directly with Skagit Valley farmers to grow barley varietals specifically for craft beer malt, and the results are delicious.

Visit Tri-Cities: The Heart of Washington Wine Country
The Tri-Cities, made up of the cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland, lies at the heart of Washington States Wine Country. We are located in the hub of the Columbia Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) where 99% of all of Washingtons wine grapes are grown. In fact, Benton County (home to Kennewick, Richland, Benton City, and Prosser) was recently named the largest grape growing region in the state of Washington. We truly offer visitors the opportunity to sample wines made from grapes grown in the area, a chance to roam through vineyards, and meet the winemakers and owners at more than 160 wineries within an hours drive. We have a number of wineries that offer eco-friendly wines, the first vineyard to be Certified Organic by Washington State Department of Agriculture, the oldest family-owned winery in the state sits in Pasco (also home to the Pacific Northwests largest corkscrew collection), and Washingtons first barrel caves were built on Red Mountain, just five minutes from Richland. There are great opportunities to experience the wineries during festivals throughout the year. Local wineries open up their doors to pair dark chocolate with their favorite red wine during Red Wine & Chocolate in February; visitors can preview and sample wineries straight from the barrels during Spring Barrel Tasting in April; and its always an experience to celebrate the bounty of harvest, see how wines are made, and participate in your very own grape stomp during Catch the Crush weekend in September. Most wineries are open year-round, offering free tastings to their visitors. And if they dont, most will waive the tasting fee with the purchase of wine.

Jesse tries BB Ranch's pot-fed pork. Update...
BB ranch website
It's a different kind of head shop found just down the stairs from the Pike Place market.
It's the BB Ranch selling something that's even better than bacon. It's marijuana fed pork.
The pig farmer has been feeding them marijuana for the last two and a half months of their life and they've been happy as hell, said William Von Schneidau, owner of the butcher shop.
This is all thanks the voters of Washington who legalized marijuana in the last election. That's when Von Schneidau saw the opportunity wasn't just blowing smoke.
And then all of a sudden marijuana, you know, became legal a few months ago and somehow, I don't know how, I met the commercial growers and they needed to get rid of some of their stuff. So rather than going into the compost pile we said, 'Lets try it out.' So here we go, said he said.
The pigs are raised in a farm about an hour outside of Seattle. In fact, these pigs are on the rock star diet. The mix contains drugs and alcohol, the booze coming by way of the spent grains from Woodinville's Project V Vodka.
The pot pigs grow to be extra fat and really happy according to the farmer who wants to be anonymous.
Here's the tough part of the story. The pigs love eating weed, and what gives me pleasure is BBQ pork.
So I brought some pot pork belly to my buddy Steve Freeman at Celtic Cowboy BBQ in Edmonds. And we decided to smoke it.
Steve rubbed the belly, which is basically the part that bacon comes from, with spices and tossed it into the smoker for about 45 minuets. He then seared it on a skillet.
Steve says the results are stunning.
That's some pretty happy pork right there. He's done a good job with that. I really like that, he said.
And that takes us back to the happiest farm in Washington. Yes, the pigs will become BBQ one day.
But if you gotta go, why not go out on a high..
