A Doggy Bakery Opens In Scarborough Market
A new business has opened its doors in Scarborough market.
Kaspar's Kanine Treats is a brand new doggy bakery, which produces healthy treats for man's best friend.
It's the brainchild of Iain Dunster, who has previously worked in retail but also has a long-standing passion for baking.
Mark Blackburn met Iain to find out the inspiration behind his unique concept.

Group Ginger: Scarborough Market Hall
The vision for Scarborough Market Hall brings to life a key regeneration project for the coastal town that is set to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and independent small businesses.
The design, commissioned by Scarborough Borough Council, follows extensive consultation with past and present market traders, and is a contemporary interpretation of Victorian and 1930s arcade architecture; immediately familiar to local people. The design respects the integrity of the original, purpose-built Victorian market hall, with the addition of new spaces, offering a fresh setting for start-ups.
The £2.7million investment in Scarborough Market is indicative of a trend emerging in the North of England, with public bodies increasingly choosing to invest in supporting independent retail businesses. Creating an element of theatre in the retail and leisure experience combats the lure of online shopping. Markets are ready-made ‘retail theatres’ and there remains a great deal of affection for markets amongst the general public which town and city centres are well placed to capitalise on.
With a listed building as the starting point, Group Ginger are adapting and reconfiguring the spaces, to make them relevant for the future. Not wishing to alienate anyone; long-standing traders, customers or new start-ups, the design puts traders and customers centre-stage, to help foster that sense of community that people love about market halls.
Key to the revitalisation of Scarborough Market Hall is the introduction of a flexible events space, an idea presented in Group Ginger’s original proposal and that will create new opportunities for the building to reclaim its position at the heart of civic life in the town.

A New Museum Opens In Scarborough Telling The Story Of The Town's History
A new exhibition which explores Scarborough's social history has opened in the vaults at Scarborough Market Hall.
Plans for this museum have been in the pipeline for a while, and is the brainchild of Wayne Murray who has lived in the town for a number of years.
And now he's hoping members of the public will visit to share their own stories.
