Berlin Mitte zwischen Rosenthaler Platz und Friedrichstrasse (Oranienburger Strasse)
Die Oranienburger Straße gehört zu den bekannteren Flaniermeilen im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte. Sie ist nach der brandenburgischen Stadt Oranienburg benannt und liegt im oft fälschlich als „Scheunenviertel bezeichneten westlichen Teil der Spandauer Vorstadt. Die häufig von Touristen besuchte Straße bietet zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten sowie Bars, Restaurants und Cafés. Sie ist auch für den nächtlichen Straßenstrich bekannt.
Zu DDR-Zeiten wurden viele Gebäude nur notdürftig instand gesetzt oder abgerissen. Die Reste von Schloss Monbijou wurden 1960 gesprengt und abgetragen, ebenso 1972 das nur relativ wenig beschädigte Domkandidatenstift von August Stüler an der Ecke Krausnickstraße, dessen Gelände in die Grünanlage einbezogen wurde. Die Straße war Sitz dreier bedeutender DDR-Verlagshäuser, darunter des Henschel-Verlages. Legendäre Gaststätten der kleinen Ost-Berliner Szene waren das Studentencafé 116 sowie der Esterhazy-Keller.
Trotz unmittelbarer Nähe zur Friedrichstraße konnte die Oranienburger Straße auch nach der Wende ihre durch den Krieg und Vernachlässigung geschlagenen Wunden nicht vollständig heilen. Einige der alten Gebäude und Fassaden wurden jedoch seit Anfang der 1990er Jahre historisch getreu wiederhergestellt. Auch durch die Einrichtung des Centrum Judaicum in der Neuen Synagoge und die Ansiedlung zahlreicher Künstler, unter anderem im Kunsthaus Tacheles, ist neues Leben in die Straße eingezogen.

The Hackesche Höfe are one of Berlin’s most popular attractions – don’t miss the impressive Art Nouveau façades and the special atmosphere. No visit to Berlin is complete without a trip to the Hackesche Höfe. Ever since reunification they have been one of the main meeting points for scenesters and tourists alike. The complex is in the historical Scheunenviertel area of Spandauer Vorstadt in Mitte. They are the largest single courtyard complex in Germany and have been listed buildings since 1972.
In the 17th century, the area where the Hackesche Höfe are now located wasn’t even part of Berlin. There were lots of barns there for storing hay and straw, which couldn’t be kept in the city because of the fire risk. Although the area around Hackescher Markt has long since been part of the city centre, it’s still called the Scheunenviertel (Barn Quarter) today.
By 1700, many people had settled outside the city walls in the area that became known as the Spandauer Vorstadt. It even had its own church. In 1731 it became part of Berlin when the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I had the city walls extended. Shortly afterwards, Hackescher Markt was build according to the plans of the city commandant Hans Christoph Graf von Hacke.
Jewish residents in particular settled in the area around Hackescher Markt in the following years, and a vibrant Jewish community developed. The Jewish cemetery was opened on Große Hamburger Straße, and in 1866 the synagogue was built on Oranienburger Straße, where it still stands today.
The courtyard complex opposite Hackescher Markt was opened on 23 September 1906 after several years of construction. It was designed and built by the architect Kurt Berndt, and the Art Nouveau façade was the work of August Endell. As with many Berlin courtyard buildings, the complex is used for a mixture of offices, shops, workshops (particularly in the front courtyards) and flats.
The original use of the buildings was included in the restoration concept and successfully implemented. Today, the eight courtyards of the Hackesche Höfe between Rosenthaler Straße and Sophienstraße have 27,000 square metres of space for 40 businesses, including cultural institutions, a cinema, cafés, shops and apartments. All around the Hackesche Höfe, bars, restaurants and clubs have opened, and the area is now one of Berlin’s most popular places for nightlife.

Charité-Bettenhochhaus pünktlich fertig
Es ist vollbracht. Nach knapp 3 Jahren Bauzeit erstrahlt das Bettenhochhaus der Charité in Mitte in neuem Glanz. Und während vor der Tür Verdi die Schlüsselübergabe nutzte, um lautstark Tarifverträge für alle Mitarbeiter der Charité-Tochter CFM zu fordern, wurde in der jetzt großzügig gestalteten Eingangshalle gefeiert. 250 Gäste waren geladen, darunter alte Wegbegleiter aus der Politik wie der ehemalige Wissenschaftssenator Jürgen Zöllner und Koryphäen der Berliner Medizin wie der Herzchirurg Prof Roland Hetzer. 202,5 Millionen Euro wurden in die Modernisierung des Bettenhochhauses, den Neubau der OPS sowie in die Erneuerung der Verbindungsbrücke über der Luisenstraße investiert. Die Patienten erwartet neben Spitzenmedizin künftig auch eine Erhöhung des Komforts. So überwiegen die 1 und 2 Bettzimmer, die alle über ein eigenes Bad verfügen. Multimediageräte direkt am Bett bieten Internet und Fernsehen und die größeren Fenster gewähren insbesondere in den oberen Etagen einen atemberaubenden Ausblick.

Berlin Alexanderplatz, originally broadcast in 1980, is a 14-part West German television miniseries, adapted and directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder from the Alfred Döblin novel of the Berlin Alexanderplatz.
It was a co-production between the German Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), Bavaria Film GmbH and the Italian network RAI. Production of the film at the Bavaria Film Studios took nearly a year. Fassbinder imagined making a parallel film which he would make specifically for theatrical distribution after the completion of this series.

The Hackesche Höfe is the renowned complex of courtyards spread around the Scheunenviertel quarter, the former Jewish neighborhood.
One of the most fashionable areas in Berlin today, it was for many years a poor neighborhood. Located outside the city walls for centuries, it was renamed the barn quarter at the end of the 17th century, when barns were removed from the city center and moved here. The fortunes of the area began to change at the beginning of the 20th century, when large numbers of Jews from Eastern Europe settled here, giving rise to major changes: shops and businesses began to open, turning the area into a hive of activity.
With the rise of Nazism and the deportation of the Jews, the neighborhood lost much of its vitality, which it did not recover until recently, once again becoming one of the coolest quarters in Berlin, with plenty of nightlife, art galleries and avant-garde fashion stores.
Opening onto Rosenthalerstrasse is a complex of eight interconnected courtyards, better known as Hackesche Höfe, originally built as a market in 1907 by the architect Kurt Berndt…

I went to one of the Berlins market on a search for Pearls / Beads and other stuff for Macrame. I really love the sound of this market which is in lots of different languages of the world and its so cool. And then I went to Alexanderplatz and you can see how it looks there, if you haven't been there. In this video you can see Rubber Jumpers who are jumping from high buildings in the center of Berlin, lots of street performers as Rappers and Dancers etc..
