Guided Scooter Tour in Denver with ScooTours Denver Scooter Rental
A guided tour in Denver on a scooter? How does it work? This video takes you through all the steps.
You'll see what it is like to meet in our parking lot in Downtown Denver at 14th and California between the Hyatt Regency and the Embassy Suites Downtown.
You'll see the process of filling out paperwork (driver's license and credit card required) and of picking super-sexy helmets.
You'll see our group safety and riding scootorial training and then individual coaching on how to ride a scooter. Then you'll see that you take plenty of practice laps to gain comfort and skills.
After group photographs, we zoom off to explore our favorite spots in Denver. Some of the tour is historical and some is cultural. We stop at various Denver landmarks and tell stories of famous or infamous people.
The tour is a mix of stopping to see interesting places and riding through beautiful parks and neighborhoods.
We do not visit the same spots on each tour. Among the places we choose from are: Confluence Park, Lower Downtown (LoDo), National Velvet, LoHi, Denver Highlands, Colorado Convention Center, Coors Field, Denver Union Station, Denver City and County Building, Colorado State Capitol, Molly Brown House, Governor's Mansion, Cheesman Park, Capitol Hill Mansion Bed and Breakfast, Denver Country Club's Reed Castle, Cherry Creek North, Washington Park, City Park, Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Things To Do In Denver, Colorado: Touring With ScooTours Denver
ScooTours is a company in Denver, Colorado, that provides an original and thrilling take on the typical city tour. Carri meets with the owners to find out more!
Q: How did the idea for ScooTours Denver Scooter Rental come to be?
Jane: We love our city. When friends come to visit, we want to show them around. We saw all of these Vespa motorscooters, or what some call mopeds, zooming around Denver and we thought it would be nice to have a few for when we have visitors. It was then that we realized every visitor to Denver, even those who aren't our friends yet, should have the opportunity.
Q: What is something readers would be surprised to know about you or your business?
Jane: It is harder than it seems. Everything takes longer. We are a very high-touch business. When people call for reservations, we educate them to make sure they are best positioned to have a great scooter day. Before they show up and after they return their scooters, there is quite a bit of preparation and safety checking that must be done. Training people to ride and coaching them through practice laps sometimes takes awhile, which we think is the most important part of the whole experience. Then, every night, we crop and touch up their photos and write a personalized email to them with the pictures that show they are Cuter on a Scooter. Sending someone on a two-hour scooter rental definitely takes us more than two hours.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
Jane: There are many boring people in this world who don't ever try new things. Fortunately, the customers who find us are either adventurous or are trying to reignite their adventurous spirit. Those are the people we should all surround ourselves with. When we have the opportunity to train these people and then take them on a guided tour of the city we love, we make friends.
Q: What is the biggest challenge of running the business? And biggest reward?
We deliver a very personalized service. We care greatly that our customers are safe and have a great time. That means it needs to be us doing most of the activities. It ends up being time-consuming. The reward is that nearly every one of our customers has a fresh new smile on his or her face as our scooter rolls out of the parking lot. We are allowing people to build a fantastic memory of a visit to a beautiful place. Our online reviews attest to the fun people have. We are consistently ranked as the best thing to do in Denver or very close to the top.
Q: What has surprised you most about owning a business?
Jane: Well, we're always surprised how the taxing authorities think we have time to fill out endless forms very frequently and then fine us for being late.
Q: What do you most love about Colorado?
Jane: Perhaps it is a strange answer, but I love the next thing I learn about it. I am naturally interested in the stories of the people who started this city and state and the changes Colorado has experienced through the years. I'm interested in the changes that are occurring right now, some that make us better and some that don't, and the people who are shaping our community today and setting it on its future path.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be?
Jane: Hmm. We have kids in high school. We should splash some of our sense of adventure on them by taking them to experience more of the world's great cities and different cultures. If I could leave tomorrow, I would head to Africa to go on a safari!

Two scooter renters ride from Denver's Civic Center Park to the Colorado Capitol
October can make for chilly scooter riding, but it is still fun. This couple had just left our location at 14th and California and turned onto Colfax.
At the top of the hill on the left, the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception stands tall. Near the end of the video, the riders turn into the parking lot of the Colorado State Capitol building and ride past the barricades. They'll proceed to the front and take a photo at the step where ONE MILE ABOVE SEA LEVEL is engraved. They'll look out over Civic Center Park and the Denver City and County Building. Beyond that, they'll have a beautiful view of the mountains of the Front Range.
At the end of the video, you'll see me fiddling with my phone, trying to turn off the video. Please do not ride a scooter and operate a phone. I am setting a very dangerous example. Do as I say, not as I do.
