Thanks to the guys from Submarine Diving Center - diving with you guys was so easy, funny and simple. We liked it very much!
Family Snorkel Trip - Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka
Snorkeling Trip Hikkaduwa. Lots of fish, an eel, few corals, and a puppy rescue with kids.
GoPro! CORAL REEF! Snorkeling at Unawatuna, Sri Lanka
Snorkeling at Unawatuna, 5km away from Galle city, on the Southwest coast of Sri Lanka. The beach was amazing. It's a must visit. The coral reef was even better!
Too bad it was the monsoon. Rains and heavy waves turn the water murky with poor visibility and a pain to swim.
We were on a tight schedule. Couldn't stay at this beach for long sadly. Have to visit this place again!
Couldn't record many fish and corals because of visibility or trying to stay alive and not drown ????
This video is the collection of the decent recordings I could manage ????

Diving the SS Rangoon Unawatuna, Sri Lanka ????????
Diving the SS Rangoon Unawatuna, Sri Lanka
During our tour of Sri Lanka I came across the Pearl Divers billboard right outside our hotel (Janaka Beach House, Unawatuna) and decided to investigate - which led me to take a two dive trips; The SS Rangoon wreck and a local scenic dive.
The SS Rangoon is a steam ship built in 1863 by Samuda Bros., London. It was part of the P & O fleet and did regular trips from Suez to Calcutta. The ship weighed 1776 ton and had 400hp engines, it was captained by GF Henry. The SS Rangoon is upright in full sailing position and teeming with marine life!
Openwater Scuba Napoleons Reef Unawatuna 2019
Thanks to Submarine Diving school in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka for an amazing time and wonderful diving course.
If you ever in Sri Lanka and want to do a dive course this is the place to go. They are Padi certified.
We did our openwater dive course there and we had a fantastic time. You can find them at the end of the beach.

Bathed in warm Indian Ocean currents, and with nearly 1600 kilometres/1000 miles of palm-fringed coastline, Sri Lanka is an amazing dive destination. This island nation has for millennia been a crossroads of historic shipping lanes, the Silk Road and other trade routes have shaped its unique culture. The landscape is as vibrant and varied above the water as it is below.
The waters of Sri Lanka are home to an incredible range of marine creatures from massive blue whales all the way through to tiny nudibranch. Sri Lanka has an abundance of great sites to discover including great wreck dives which are scattered off the coast. Local divers are still discovering new wrecks as they explore the waters of this island nation. Many of the wrecks are covered in marine life, soft corals, macro critters and large aggregations of schooling fish. Above the surface, Sri Lanka also boasts wildlife reserves, which protect native species such as leopards, porcupines, and anteaters. It is also famous for its unique foods and amazing teas, which should be sampled as part of any dive trip.
Where you dive in Sri Lanka depends on when you plan to visit because the monsoon seasons vary from one end of the island to the other. October to May is the high season for diving the west and south-west coast, and May to October is the best time to dive the north-east coast. With incredible diving, friendly locals, amazing food and top side treasures, Sri Lanka truly offers it all.
Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna
Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna are very popular spots. The first of all the places on the island to have a proper PADI dive center and PADI Training center. Getting some Scuba diving hours into your holiday is a no-brainer in Hikkaduwa or Unawatuna. There are at least 10 coral reef dive spots at all depths for all levels, like Hikkaduwa Gala and Barracuda Point. There are also lots of shipwreck dives to check out, none are more than 30 meters deep.
Trincomalee
Trincomalee is on the east coast of Sri Lanka and its Nilavelli beach is the launch pad for most dives in the area. A few kilometers off the coast is Pigeon Island Marine Life Sanctuary, surrounded by coral reefs full of colorful fish, anemone, nudibranch and more. Another diving spot in Trincomalee is the shipwreck Irakkandy, an 18th-century steamer close to the coast.
Mirissa
Mirissa has always been famous for whale watching but now it’s gaining popularity for its great diving. There are around five dive sites in Mirissa. The Poseidon Diving Center has programs for beginners and also full PADI training courses to reach all levels. Mirissa is on the southeast coast of the island.
Passikudah
Another east coast diving hotspot is Passikudah. Some of the sites that can be visited from Trincomalee can also be visited from Passikudah but there are other spots close by like Passikudah reef and the Boiler Wrecks. The famous wreck British Sergeant is accessible from Passikudah.
Kirinda
Kirinda is a special diving spot, home to the Little and Great Basses wrecks. These spots can only be visited in March and April. The rest of the year the waters are way too choppy and murky for the diving to be any good. If you are planning a trip to Sri Lanka during the peak Basses season, you should definitely consider this dive. There is no dive center on Kirinda but the dive centers in Mirissa or Hikkaduwa can take you.

Sri Lanka ???????? Diving with Pearl Divers, Unawatuna
This was the second of two dives (following the SS Rangoon) in Unawatuna.
A nice dive at 18m catching sight of a couple of turtles. During our assent there was a swarm of stingy things in the water which gave a slight tingle to the skin, nothing to worry about though, it made for a very interesting dive.
Hikkaduwa CORAL REEF Best SNORKELING Place in SRI LANKA????????
The Hikkaduwa Coral Reef is a National Marine Park. It’s got its status as National Park in 2002 to protect the reef from further degradation due to the 1998. In the meantime the reef is recovering considerably and is regaining its beautiful colours. It also became the status of National Park to prevent the reef from further damage due to human activity. The reef can be visited by glass bottom boats, but also as a diving safari under guidance of experienced scuba divers. Moreover the reef is also very suitable for snorkeling. Hikkaduwa National Park can only be visited during the dry season, which is between November and April. Outside that period the sea is mostly too rough to visit the coral reef. If you want to see coral reefs outside this season, you should travel to Pigeon Island near Trincomalee, where you can also watch the beauty of the underwater gardens in its full extend.

Diving Extreme | Bentota, Sri Lanka
What a finish in Sri Lanka... After a elite diver's breakfast, we headed to the Laccadive Sea for two amazing dives. Both dive locations (named Siri and Mada) had great fauna (including lobsters, parrot fish, octopuses) and some cool formations. We finished off the morning with high-class Tuk Tuk driving.
