Ukrainian child refugees who have fled to Russia underwent basic military training at the Viva youth club in Voronezh, Monday. The children are being instructed on how to disassemble, reassemble and fire automatic weapons, along with basic navigation equipment training.
Most of the refugees live with their families in Russia, with many now applying for Russian citizenship. The region of Voronezh has welcomed thousands of refugees since Kiev launched its military offensive in the country's east, with many fleeing from Lugansk in particular.

Russian president Vladimir Putin jokes with youth and local residents.
Vladimir Putin took part in the unveiling ceremony for the monument to the Peacemaker tsar Alexander III. The monument has been erected in the Livadia Palace park. After the ceremony, the President had a brief conversation with the local residents and young people.
The monument is a gift from the Russian Artists’ Union. The author of the sculptural composition is sculptor Andrei Kovalchuk, head of the Artists’ Union, People’s Artist of Russia. The monument has been erected in the park of the Livadia Palace, where Emperor Alexander III liked to stay with his family. The four-metre-tall bronze monument was created at a plant in the Urals. Alexander III is presented as sitting on a tree stump, dressed in military uniform and resting on his sword, with a stele behind him topped with a double-headed eagle.

Journey from Magadan to Europe (English subs)

I Make Clay Bouquets That Brides Can Keep Forever
or over 5 years now, I create clay bouquets and accessories for brides (and not only brides) from all over the world.
I graduated as Russian-English interpreter in 2005 and worked for some years in a bank but that never fascinated me, I felt like I have something inside me that is not quite happy with what I’m doing. Since my childhood I liked to create beautiful things from beads, then I learned an art of creating silk flowers but my true passion is clay. Parallel with learning clay art, I graduated as a florist and now I’m involved in wedding decor business here in Russia. I create flower arrangements and bouquets from real flowers too. Now I’m happy that I’ve found my true self.
As to the material, polymer clay is very comfortable to work with, it is soft air dry clay. The flowers are very lightweight and not fragile, it’s not a problem to ship them everywhere!
These bouquets are a great alternative to real flowers because they won’t fade next day after the wedding and bride can keep the bouquet for many years to come!
My inspiration is nature, nature gives us perfect example of color mixes, shapes, sizes… We just should follow!

Save the Earth: Saving the planet, 60 minutes at a time
Saving the planet, 60 minutes at a time. Campaigners across the world are marking Earth Hour. The annual enviromental campaign is designed to save energy resources and make the most of renewable power. Most people do this by switching off lights and electrical appliances. But that's not the only activity. In the Philippines, a chance to burn off some extra calories - whilst powering an LED map of the island.
Ria Adoracion Lambino: What we have here is a symbolic action wherein we have bikers trying to light up the Philippine map. Okay, if one of these bikers stop biking, then the map will not light up, so we're saying together, where possible, we're harnessing human energy, human power to be able to power the Philippines, symbolic for saying we can use our own power to light up the Philippines and also the world.
Some of the world's most famous landmarks are also plunged into darkness. These include the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Sydney Opera House and Brazil's Christ the Redeemer statue. Several key structures in Kyiv including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building and Motherland Statue also join in.

Mallari Excerpts Indian Classical Dance Bharatnatyam
Mallari, the dance concert features newly choreographed Bharatanatyam dances by Malathi Iyengar and showcases solos, duets, and groups performed to new and traditional music.
The jewel of the show is a music and dance tribute to the universal mother goddess 'Kamakshi' and the south Indian art, culture, & heritage. The music for 'Kamakshi Swarajathi' is a composition of the legendary composer Shyama Shastri (1762 - 1827).
The performance features Iyengar's disciples who have continued to advance after
their solo dance debut.
Bharatnatyam is one of the many traditional dance from India. It originated in grand temples of Ancient India. Its oldest description goes back to sangam literature. It originated around 2B.C-1B.C in Temples of Shiva in South-India.
It has its inspirations from the sculptures of the ancient temple of Chidambaram.
Bharata Natyam proper is a solo dance, with two aspects, lasya, the graceful feminine lines and movements, and tandava Ananda Thandavam (Tamil) (the dance of Shiva), masculine aspect, which is identical to the Yin and Yang in the Chinese culture Bharata Natyam performance lasts about two hours, and includes six or more of the following parts:
Allarippu - A presentation of the Tala punctuated by simple syllables spoken by the dancer. This really is sort of an invocation to the gods to bless the performance.
Kautuvam - Ancient temple dance item performed in the beginning of the recital, containing rhythmic syllables sung for jathis.
Ganapati Vandana - A traditional opening prayer to the Hindu god Ganesh, who removes obstacles. See also Pushpanjali
Jatiswaram - An abstract dance where the drums set the beat. Here the dancer displays her versatility in elaborate footwork and graceful movements of the body.
Shabdam - The dancing is accompanied by a poem or song with a devotional or amorous theme.
Varnam - The center piece of the performance. It is the longest section of the dance punctuated with the most complex and difficult movements. Positions of the hands and body tell a story, usually of love and the longing for the lover.
Padam - Probably the most lyrical section where the dancer speaks of some aspect of love: devotion to the Supreme Being; or of love of mother for child; or the love of lovers separated and reunited.
Stuti - Hymn in praise of a deity that may contain a feigned mockery, etc. See also Stotra
Koothu - Item containing a lot of dramatic elements.
Javali - Javalis are relatively new, pure abhinaya types of compositions of light and pleasing nature. Like Padams the underlying theme of Javalis is Sringara Rasa depicting the Nayaka-Nayaki bhava.
Thillana - The final section is a pure dance (nritta) when the virtuosity of the music is reflected in the complex footwork and captivating poses of the dancer.
Apart from these items, there are items such as Shlokam, Swarajathi, Krithi etc. The performance concludes with the chanting of a few religious verses as a form of benediction. Certain styles include more advanced items, such as Tharanga Nritham and Suddha Nritham. When a dancer has mastered all the elements of dance, as a coming out performance, he or she generally performs an Arangetram (debut).
Angikam - This is a devotional song on Lord Shiva and an item dance in bharatnatyam. It can also be performed in byapti slow motion.

SUMMARY
=======
Saint Catherine of Alexandria, or Saint Catharine of Alexandria, also known as Saint Catherine of the Wheel and The Great Martyr Saint Catherine (Coptic: Ϯⲁⲅⲓⲁ Ⲕⲁⲧⲧⲣⲓⲛ, Greek: ἡ Ἁγία Αἰκατερίνη ἡ Μεγαλομάρτυς – translation: Holy Catherine the Great Martyr, Latin: Catharina Alexandrina) is, according to tradition, a Christian saint and virgin, who was martyred in the early 4th century at the hands of the pagan emperor Maxentius. According to her hagiography, she was both a princess and a noted scholar, who became a Christian around the age of 14, converted hundreds of people to Christianity, and was martyred around the age of 18. More than 1,100 years following her martyrdom, Saint Joan of Arc identified Catherine as one of the Saints who appeared to her and counselled her.The Eastern Orthodox Church venerates her as a Great Martyr and celebrates her feast day on 24 or 25 November (depending on the regional tradition). In Catholicism she is traditionally revered as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. In 1969 the Roman Catholic Church removed her feast day from the General Roman Calendar; however, she continued to be commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 25 November. In 2002, her feast was restored to the General Roman Calendar as an optional memorial.
Some modern scholars consider that the legend of Catherine was probably based on the life and murder of the Greek philosopher Hypatia, with reversed roles of Christians and pagans.
