Ruff seas of Okinawa, Typhoon Phanfong Okinawa Japan 2014
October 5 2014. Luckily Typhoon Phanfong has steered far enough away from Okinawa, but the proximity of the Typhoon has created ruff sea conditions due to winds. The surge has already claimed the life of 1 US military personnel and 2 others are still missing.

Chinese warcraft fly over Bashi Channel, Miyako Strait on Friday in a west Pacific drill
Warcraft from the Chinese Air Force flew over the Bashi Channel and the Miyako Strait on Friday in a west Pacific drill, an Air Force spokesman said Saturday.
The overflight involved multiple types of warplanes, meeting the set target, spokesman Shen Jinke said while responding to media inquiries.
The routine high sea drill was an common practice among all countries close to sea, Shen said. It accords with international law and practice, doesn't aim at any specific country, region or target, and is legitimate, reasonable and justified, he said.
Shen said the Chinese Air Force is a strategic military force and its strategic power should match with national interest.
The Air Force will continue to conduct regular high sea drills and further improve its capabilities in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and peaceful development, the spokesman said.
Fukushima SFP#5 & Typhoon Update 7 8 14
BEFORE I FORGET: Spent Fuel Pool at Reactor number 5 TEPCO and NHK have been VERY ILLUSIVE on their story about SFP at reactor Five. First they said that Sea Water (Salt water) was used to cool the fuel pools, THEN they said that Salt Water was used to Cool the Cooling Water. I'll copy paste the NHK Narrative Below to be exact. NOTE: If Salt Water (sea water) gets into the spent fuel pools (OR reactors) it creates a MUCH MORE VOLATILE environment and throws off a LOT of BuckyBalls that are nano-particles that can travel LONG distances and are Highly Radioactive.

No prospect to resume cooling No.5 fuel pool
The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says it has no idea when it can resume the cooling system for one of the spent fuel pools.
Tokyo Electric Power Company halted the cooling system at the No.5 reactor on Sunday after workers found seawater leaking from a pipe. Seawater is used to lower the temperature of coolant water in the storage pools for spent nuclear fuel.
TEPCO found a small hole in a valve for adjusting the flow of seawater. Workers covered the hole as a stopgap measure, but they are still considering how to repair the pipe.
The temperature in the pool rose to 25.7 degrees Celsius on Monday, up 2 degrees from Sunday.
TEPCO says the temperature will reach the company's safety limit of 65 degrees in a little over a week.
The operator plans to channel seawater into the pool to curb the rise in temperature.
The No. 5 reactor was offline when the plant had an accident in March 2011 and escaped damage. TEPCO has decided to decommission the reactor.

The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant says it has restarted the cooling system for a pool that contains spent fuel. The system had been suspended for 2 days due to a mechanical problem.
Engineers of Tokyo Electric Power Company on Sunday found water leaking from a pipeline for the system that cools spent fuel rods at the No.5 reactor building.
The engineers shut down the system. They found a small hole in a valve that adjusts the flow of water.
TEPCO officials say the temperature of the fuel rods is below the company's safety limit and that their condition is stable.
The No.5 reactor was offline at the time of the accident in March 2011. The unit did not melt down.

Typhoon Neoguri heading north off Okinawa, Amami
Typhoon Neoguri is moving northward off Japan's southwestern islands of Okinawa and Amami, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The storm knocked out electricity to more than 80,000 households.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says the typhoon was located over the East China Sea, northwest of Okinawa and Amami on Wednesday morning. It was moving northward at 20 kilometers an hour.
The agency rated Neoguri as large and strong as of Wednesday, with a central atmospheric pressure of 960 hectopascals. Its maximum wind speed was 180 kilometers per hour.
Neoguri has brought developed rainclouds over the islands.
Yomitan Village on Okinawa's main island recorded an unprecedented 96.5 millimeters of rainfall per hour on Wednesday morning.
Local governments on the island have received about 10 reports of floods and landslides. The weather agency issued emergency warnings for heavy rain for the island...

As many as 10,000 people are believed to have died in one Philippine city alone when one of the worst storms on record sent giant sea waves, washing away homes, schools and airport buildings. Ferocious winds ravaged several central islands, with the eastern city of Tacloban the worst affected. Eyewitnesses have reported seeing people buried under tons of debris and corpses left hanging from trees. Regional police chief Elmer Soria said he was briefed by Leyte provincial governor Dominic Petilla and told there were about 10,000 deaths in the province, mostly by drowning and from collapsed buildings. The governor's figure was based on reports from village officials in areas where Typhoon Haiyan struck on Friday

At 5:30 am a 6.0 earthquake hit off the Taiwan coast under a stratavolcano beneath Turtle Island (GuiShan Island). Interestingly that seemed to signal an underwater volcanic eruption at the same time Typhoon Lekima neared the island. Is it an Earth - Sun electrical connection? IEA: Fossil Fuel Companies Risk Billions by not Taking Climate Change Seriously
Fatih Birol, who will take the top job at the IEA in September and is one of the world’s most influential voices on energy, said the following at a major climate science conference in Paris: “We see some moves from energy companies in the direction of sustainable development. However, it is not at the level you would like to see. If they think that their businesses are immune to the impacts of climate policy, they are making a strategic mistake.”
Nurseries are Bringing Coral Reefs Back to Life
Rather than sit idly by and watch coral reefs die near his home in the Florida Keys, Ken Nedimyer decided to do something about it. He created a nonprofit conservation organization called the Coral Restoration Foundation, which aims to bring coral reefs back from the brink of death by employing a technique Nedimyer pioneered: reproducing disappearing species of coral in underwater nurseries and then replanting them in the dying reefs.

Powerful Typhoon Goni Slams Japan

TOKYO: Typhoon Goni slammed into the Japanese mainland today, leaving 13 people with minor injuries and disrupting rail and flight services, as the government issued an evacuation advisory for more than 100,000 residents.
The powerful storm, which killed at least 26 people in landslides and floods in the Philippines, hit southwestern Kumamoto prefecture at about 6.00 am, Japan's weather agency said.
Most of those injured sustained minor cuts from broken glass, a prefectural official told AFP.
Packing gusts up to 198 kilometres (123 miles) per hour, Goni was moving just north of Kyushu, one of Japan's four main islands, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported, as it warned residents to expect violent winds, floods and high waves.
Local governments in northern Kyushu and other prefectures on the main island of Honshu issued evacuation advisories for more than 100,000 people, public broadcaster NHK reported.
Most regional railway operators halted operations, while scores of flights arriving and departing from local airports were also cancelled, including international services between major city Fukuoka and other regional centres including Seoul and Shanghai.
At 10.00 am local time (0100 GMT), about 425,000 households in Kyushu were left without electricity after blackouts, said a spokeswoman for Kyushu Electric.
At the weekend, Goni hit parts of the northern Philippines hard, destroying nearly 1,000 houses and forcing more than 12,000 people to flee, the country's civil defence office said.
More than a dozen people in the mountainous region were killed by landslides, surging waters and a falling tree.
