Back with another travel vlog!
A couple of friends and I went to Naha, Okinawa for the last few days of our spring break. We visited Naminoue Beach, Shuri Castle, Fukushuen Garden, took a bus tour to Churaumi Aquarium, and went to the American Village/Sunset Beach. The weather was decently warm but not really warm enough to swim in the ocean.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium (Kuroshio Sea)
This video highlights our visit to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa, Japan. I’ve been to a bunch of public aquariums, and the okinawa aquarium certainly holds its own as one of the best. Obviously the sheer size of it is impressive, but the quality of the individual displays is top notch.
The signature display is called the kuroshio sea. It measures 115 ft long, 89 ft wide, and 33 ft deep. For those keeping score at home, that is just shy of 2 million gallons of water. The acrylic panel you see here is 74 ft by 27 ft and is 2 ft. thick.

This is our memory of Shuri or Shurijo Castle in Naha, Okinawa Japan. It is a popular UNESCO Heritage Site. We visited this castle during their traditional New Year's Day celebration while we were living in Okinawa. It was called Chohai-Okishi. The event was very colorful. This 600 year old castle is a popular tourist attraction in Naha and was once the castle of the Ryukyu Kingdom. It was sad to hear the news that the castle got caught on fire.

The TSUGARUKAIKYO FERRY high speed catamaran roro passenger vessel NATCHAN WORLD carried Japan Ground Self-Defense Force vehicles and departed to Naha from the port of Oita. This is training which moves a unit to a detached island using commercial cargo ships.

My friends and I went to Kokusai Dori, the walking street of Naha, Okinawa and at the end of the day, we went to the fish market near by.

Today we visited the Tomari Fish Market in Naha, Okinawa! We sampled some incredible seafoods such as the always delicious sashimi don, cheese scallops, baby octopus and more!
After the fish market we headed to a super local spot to try soba noddles - a famous Okinawan street food!

Walking through Heiwa Street

Heiwa Street is one of the most energetic shopping arcades in Okinawa. It's laying about 350 meters from by Kokusai Street to Tsuboya District. Its exotic and energetic atmosphere, which is much different from a main street, attracts tourists from other prefectures of Japan and over sea countries.
The history of Heiwa Street started in 1948, after the World War II. At the time, a population of Naha city rapidly increased and street stalls spread over in Kainan district and Makishi district. In 1951, an association of shop owners raked fund for asphalt concrete to cover the street, and the street was named as Heiwa Dori by public participation. 平和通り(Heiwa Street) means Peace Street in English. The name itself means a lot to Okinawan people. After experiencing horrible war, people really needed peace.
Heiwa Street became a shopping arcade in 1979. More than 200 shops offer various kinds of merchandises, so you can find most of what you want in this street. Around near Kokusai Street, there are many souvenir shops for Okinawan traditional artworks and Okinawan food. As walking towards Tsuboya District, there are more shops for locals. Many branches makes Heiwa Street like a maze, and these byways attract tourists, too. Have a fun to get lost in shopping labyrinth!

The first part of our one-month-trip to Japan happens in Okinawa, an island southwest of the mainland of Japan.
My favorite part of Okinawa was Zamami, a small peaceful island two hours by boat from Naha. To be honest, the place really surprised me with its unreal colors, beautiful ocean and nature, marine fauna and, best of all, the super friendly and kind japanese people.
Zamami is a place to turn to when you just want to remember what is life all about .

Enjoying the day in Naha Okinawa Japan (Cruise Vacation Stop 20)
I finally get to set foot on the famous island of Okinawa Japan. A bucket list of mine since i saw the movie Karate Kid. Known as the Hawaii of Japan where the people are friendly and relaxed. I start the day onboard the MS Amsterdam Holland America where housekeeping has created a zoo of animals made from towels surrounding the pool deck. I find the friendship city exchange monument. Head over to Shurijo Castle Park. Find my first Snake Wine. Take a stroll through the local markets and head to the beach. End the day with a little cruise party.
Join me on my travels as i put down the stethoscope and experience life.
