Shark fishing in Marathon Florida Keys with SeaSquared Charters 5/21/11 (part 2)
Catch-and-release shark fishing in the Florida Keys is an extraordinary experience for anglers of all ages and abilities.
SeaSquared Charters shark fishes in waters less than ten feet deep in calm Florida Keys Gulf areas. Because these calmer waters are away from the motion of the deeper ocean waters, shallow water angling for sharks is well suited for anyone prone to seasickness. The fishing, however, is anything but calm.
We primarily target lemon, blacktip and bull sharks, typically ranging in length from three to eight feet. On occasion, however, we encounter tiger and hammerhead sharks which can attain lengths of fifteen feet and more! Regardless of size, all are capable of providing you quite a memorable thrill.

Hammerhead Shark Attacks Tarpon (6/6/11) Capt. Chris Johnson SeaSquared Charters Florida Keys
Anglers from around the world flock to Marathon Florida Keys for our amazing tarpon fishing!
Also known as the silver king, tarpon are green or steel blue above and silver on the sides and belly. They have a deep, thick body, a forked tail and a long trailer at the end of the dorsal fin.
Tarpon range in size from 12 inches or less to about 75 pounds, on average, although big fish of 100 to 150 pounds are numerous. The world record is 283 pounds, 4 ounces, and the Florida record is 243 pounds.
Tarpon are famous for the spectacle and frequency of their jumps. Giant tarpon don't quite match the acrobatics of the smaller ones, but they leap frequently enough in shallow water and with even more fury.
Tarpon reside in the Florida Keys year-round; however, the largest of the specimens show up in April, May and June for their spawning. They like to hang out at bridges, channels and passes where they can linger and await a meal to swim by.
In Marathon, we fish for tarpon at the Seven Mile, Bahia Honda and Long Key Bridges. A great way to spend an evening is to take a stroll on the Old Seven Mile Bridge and enjoy the world-famous Florida Keys sunset while you watch the tarpon anglers below.

Multiple lemon sharks from 6-8 feet long swarm around the SeaSquared. We shark fish in about 4 feet of calm, crystal clear water so you can easily watch the sharks interacting with each other. We recycle junk fish and fish pieces for bait. You can see the sharks dining on the offerings on the fish stringer.
